That Kobe Bryant story just solidifies how legendary Ronaldinho is aswell. Messi was 17 at the time which makes it even more incredible.
Once Messi made his debut, it didn’t take up to 2 seasons for commentators all over Europe to start tipping him for the Balon d’Or and “he will be one of the greatest of all time”. It was clear for everyone with a pair of functional eyes and brain.

We saw him on the screens at 17 and at 19 commentators were already putting him next to cruyff and Maradona. 15 years later, he also turned out to have the best longevity of all of these players. Sports journalists need controversy for the sake of making programs interesting, but to me--and I daresay to most people who understand football--it was never even a debate. There have been many great goal scorers in football history, though arguably Ronaldo is among the best especially given his longevity. But Messi is one of a kind. Pele and Maradona come in close, but again, neither of them had the longevity Messi has. And what makes him even more special is his humility. If anyone could boast about his achievements, that would be him. Yet he never points to himself. This is because nobody understands better than him that at the end of the day, it's 11 against 11. His goal is never personal. It's always for the team to win. That is what makes him truly great.

Lionel Messi is just a Gift from the 'Footballing God's' and I feel lucky to have seen most of the Greatest Players in their Prime, but I've never seen anyone quite like him. Messi uses his brain more than his body..He doesn't have the physical appearance of someone like Ronaldo but he plays with the oppositions mentally which kinda forces them to do mistakes on which he capitalises n ppl think it's easy..But actually getting control of your psychological brain is the toughest thing to do as a human.. Apart from skill n talent you need to work very hard to make your brain function like that.. It's not all god gifted..Maybe the dribbling abit but not all.. You need to train very hard day in day out so that your body your brain is at a habit of doing the same thing consistently which makes it look very easy but it's not.. Messi's physical appearance is an advantage for his way of playing. He has a very low center of gravity which helps him turn and run with the ball faster. It's harder to dribble like he does if you are taller.
