My three year old son Levi was just diagnosed with Type 1 on Thursday. He LOVED watching Henry get his sugar tested! Levi said, "He's just like me!" He also wants a pump now :-) Thank you, Henry and family, for letting us see what you do everyday. You helped Levi a lot!
Goog luck with Henry! :) I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 13 months old, back in the 1980's when we had no strips, or fast acting insulin. I have managed by diabetes for over 35 years, with no complications so far (thank God). It's not easy but you can do it, I"m sure! Good luck! :))
Antigoni Spiliadi that’s fantastic that long with good management
Antigoni Spiliadi
I was doing research about diabetes my son got recently diagnosed with type 1
Thats wonderful @Antigoni Spiliadi :)
That's great God bless you.. But please can u tell how did u managed it.. And what has been Ur diet for so many years
You are so lucky you got diagnosed. 💔💔💔
Sometimes not all the time diseases are missed.
Our boy is nine and recently diagnosed (Oct. 2013). Sorry about your little guy, he is so little to go through this. I feel your stress, live, breathe it 24/7. I have given up explaining it to people because they have no clue what we go through each day. We have a similar scale as you use. It's a time saver. God bless and yes, hope, pray, believe there will be a cure. Someday.
I'm type 1 and I was diagnosed a week ago. yesterday was my first day out the hospital with diabetes and I did good.
Thank you for posting these video's. I am a single mom of two kids and my youngest (3 years old) was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on January 9 2013. This is such a life changing event and I thank you for sharing and helping me get through this struggle (not alone). I pray for a cure! I pray for our children!
Now ur kids turn to 13 year. I need ur help, my kid age is 3 year and type 1 diabetes diagnosed. So how you treat your kids.
@@muhalmi3372, now I have two kids with type 1. A year after my 3 year old was dx, my 8 year old was dx. Now 13 and 16. I can try my best and answer any questions you have. You're not alone!
Just want to know treatment, look after the kids, how to maintain...
I was diagnosed at 9 years old right after I came back from Disney land😒and my dad thought I was just sick so I was home for like half a week before I was getting really skinny and sick then he took me to the doctor they said my bloodsugar was the highest they ever seen in a kid.I had to ride in an ambulance to the Mary's Bridge Hospital on Tacoma.I wish the best of luck to you guys take care oh and I'm 14 now ❤️✨👑
I was diagnosed at the age of one year
BabyGirl 0926 Hello, Do You Remember That Blood Sugar Reading? If You Don’t Mind Sharing?
I was diagnosed at 18. I am now almost 21. This breaks my heart and it goes out to him. My first A1C was 14.2.... The next A1C after diagnosis was almost 6. All I can say is WATER WATER WATER. It helps so much, avoid drinks that dehydrate! Prayers for your family! God bless.
I love you sharing all of this. Thanks for taking the time to do. I think it's so important for people to realize how much truly goes into it all and how serious it is. You are such a sweet mom and I am so glad Henry has someone like you and Andy who are supportive! I hope a cure can be found in his lifetime!
you're a wonderful mother...my 33 year old boyfriend has type 1 and he was diagnosed when he was 3. this made me cry. I wish his family had the knowledge you have. great video.
Thank you so much for this video! My 13 year old brother was just diagnosed yesterday! It's so crazy how your whole life can change in just a couple of minutes! Good luck with your family! You seem like an amazing mom :)
I was diagnosed with T1D when I was 3 years old. I'm now 35. I had my share with ups and downs lots of difficulties through these years, but I can say now that I have mastered it and I'm thriving. It's a difficult road to walk but once you get to the right path you can do anything. Stay strong and healthy. Lot's of love from Greece.
Thank you. ♥️
My son is two and was just diagnosed right after having my second son and this video makes me cry. Its the first time I truly feel like somebody else knows how I'm feeling
Stay strong I promise things will get better, your such a great mom!
I watched this with my 3 year old, and tried explaining it to her. I think it's important that she is exposed to different situations other than what she is used to. She is going to have her finger poked today to check her iron. And Henry is a great example of a brave little boy to show her. I told her that she only has to have it done once in a while, and Henry has it done multiple times every single day and look how amazing he is. Thank you for sharing Amy.
Great video! I have diabetes myself since I was four years old. I am now 18 and I have learned to live with it so wel. Thanks to this video I realised everything my parents did for me. May God bless you and your amazing son! :) and family ofcourse
God bless you. I was diagnosed as a 4yr and you are doing a great job. You have it so much better now then 1985 and I am so happy that the times have come to help parents manage and be more aware of Type 1 with technology. Keep up the good work and never let the disease overtake you.
How are you coping with T1D now..my 4 year old was recently diagnosed and It's really a full time job
Exact same story of my family. ...my son was diagnosed at the age of 2 when I just had my 2nd son...so we are living with diabetes for almost 11 months. Wish you and your family all the best
Same case here my son diagnose diabetes age 3 year 10 june 2022.
So my question with you is how to look after the child. Diet, BSR check. So how you treat them..
You are a super mom and Henry is such a gr8 kid. Hats off to you..
I just want to say I'm A diabetic and when it comes to picking my finger I hate it. He's such A Trooper and a tough little man. God Bless.
I'm the same way, I absolutely hate pricking my finger! He's an inspiration to be a bit more brave:)
[have type 2]
+Karina Ramirez Type 1 here, I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was three years old, I'm 27 and guess how long I've had it. This boy is brave doing a finger blood test, I didn't do it till I was 8, my mum had to do it.

BigD Jr to you havt to have a shot everyday?
AveryandBryleeShow yes I do.
I'm an FNP student in a pharm class and learning about DM. I really appreciated this. It's so helpful for me to put such a cute face to the whole process, and to be able to see how much work it is for patients and their families. God bless you guys. I'm praying for you and hope Henry continues to do well. He's such a trooper and you are such a good mother. Thanks again

I definitely understand what goes on in your mind as to every minute of my day also goes by thinking about my sons numbers. He is also only 18 months so I resonate with you. Prayers for a cure for all these horrible diseases.

My little brother who is 13 was diagnosed a about 2 weeks ago. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this illness. God bless these children.
Thanks for posting. My daughter was dx'd 4 months ago. She's 12, so our experience is a little different, but the challenges are the same. Your intro to this video could have come out of my mouth. The constant adjusting... just when you think you've got it... nope! It is relentless--I truly understand sister!!
Henry is awesome! I am a 12 year old with Type 1 Diabetes and i love these vlogs!
What an awesome mom you are. I know it's tough but you're making it work...Good Job. God Bless...Praying for you all
I'm really touched by seeing how mother provides for their family. Also type one here.diagnosed after my 20th birthday and i can hardly control my blood sugars.Never mention how much efforts would it take for taking care of a little baby.NICE WORK!
from a T1 mom to another to another I was a little confused about the correction scale that had recently put into place with my daughter. Watching you explain it.. Visually now it makes complete sense!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
he is so strong omg !!! Your a great mother !
Thank you so much Jess!
WOW ! Good thing you are organized. This is a lot to keep up with. You are such a great mom.
You are doing an awesome job as a mom! I teach diabetes education and I plan on showing this to my students so they can get an appreciation of "a day in the life". One thing I typically teach is to only subtract fiber grams if there is 5 grams or more in a serving and then you subtract 1/2 of those fiber grams.
Thank you so much Brittany!
My 7 yr old son was diagnosed last week and its hard getting to grip with the injections and carb counting. I really feel for every parent and child in this situation
It never ends! I had to learn and give half that stress to God because boy it is OVERWHELMING! Keep up the good work!!
I wish him all best
You guys are awesome. Seriously. Poor little guy.
Very impressed. My son (just tuned 9) has T1 for 6 months now... This is all so familiar!!
awww..I was just reading about Diabetes ( medical student ) and came to this video, I wish all the best luck to this great little guy, sending a lot of blessings to him and wish the best in life. He seems so happy and he should stay like that all the life
You are an amazing mother. He is a beautiful boy!! Brave!!
You are such a strong woman, I am sorry he has to go through this battle :( But he is lucky to have such a great mom like you!
Cute and strong boy.. And amazing parents.. God bless you..
Thank you Andrea!
Wow I am amazed by your families strength!!! Prayers going your way!!!
Great video. My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two weeks ago. Every thing in your video looks very familiar even thought it has only been two weeks for my wife and me. I like your scale and how it helps you count the carbs that is the hardest part for us especially in fruits and veggies. Good luck Henery
Amy, I don't know how you do it. Well, I mean obviously you just have to do it, but man, hats off to you! You are amazing!!! Henry is so lucky to have such an awesome momma!
Sweet litle boy!!!Real hero!!!Good courage to everyone!!!
Great Video- Henry is such a good little man and you and your husband seem to work very well together that is a great accomplishment too- Been there- done that- it will be 12 years for us on the 29th. We actually now eyeball most of what our daughter eats and so that makes it a bit easier but your video and your daily carb counts reminds me of how it used to be- too long ago... I wish you all the best - and keep praying for a cure.
Omg I'm exhausted from watching you guys measure and test and calculate just in a video. Even when the day has been tough I should come back to this video and appreciate what I have. This is so challenging and Mind occupying regardless of how routine it is for your family. May god bless u n keep you guys strong as you have been. Good job Amy
Thank you Leah!
You seem like your doing a great job with him, and to say he's so young he is taking everything so well. I was diagnosed at 1 years old and I am now 16. Everything gets easier as you get older.
You are so amazing with Henry. I hope to someday be as good of a mom as you are.
Thanks for this video! :) I do the same thing everyday with Charlie! I'd love to make a video similar to this once I get my channel up and running! I think about you guys often! You have helped make our journey with T1D a little easier. Your videos keep me going! Thank you and God bless! -CharliesMom (aka fordtmck)
You are an amazing mom and I so admire what you do for your son:)
you are very strong mom, Henry is very lucky to have you as his mom. i get worried for everything, and get stressed if baby do not eat, or fall or cry.

you guys are such good parents, and great kids too - weldone !
u people tak care so much its great..
Thank you for sharing this! You are doing an amazing job! I don't know how you do it!
was diagnosed type 2 diabetes 3 years ago at age 34. it's been a learning experience what to eat and what not to eat. I used to love bandanas but even one will spike my sugars to 300+. vegetables, salad's, beans, cheeses, nuts, Greek light & fit yogurt, sugar free oatmeal, any meats etc all good stuff. My average BS is 85-115.
I was same to you and know my Blood sugar is 108 to 140 but I am of insulin
This was very interesting to watch. I went to HS with a girl who had a pump and would have to check hers throughout the day and make adjustments or have a snack/juice but I didn't understand it all. I had no idea about having to weigh everything. Praying for a cure! You are amazing parents and he is an amazing patient
Thank you Jamie!
He’s such a brave little boy ❤❤❤
Hi I'm a nursing student and I want to say a great big thank you for making this video! Right now my life is textbooks and seeing patients in a hospital setting, so this is very much eye-opening as to how a family deals w/ child diagnosed w/ type 1 on daily basis. You and your husband make an awesome team!
I am curious as to what type of insulin your son gets?
ps the Dia-BEE-tes kit is a super cute touch! lol i love it!
I'm a home care Nurse. Family has a 6 year old with SMA Xlknk and a daughter 3 just diagnosed with juvenile Diabetes..
So I understand.
I came across this looking for information for them. They also have a child named Henry..
Your doing Great..
Bless that little Angel...WOW, he is braver than me.
Hello, I was searching insulin pumps and came across this video. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11, with little no help or support from my parents. I am now 26 and am just starting to properly manage. Kudos to you for being so involved. Hoping to get the approval for a pump by the end of the year. Definitely going to check into this one. Hope the little one is doing well
Just finding this now. My one and a half year-old just got diagnosed yesterday and in a bit of a shock 🤦🏻♂️ I couldnt imagine a baby having diabetes until it happened to us. Hope you guys are doing amazing.
Aww, I'm so sorry. Same with us but not we are 10 years into this. ♥️
Good to hear that it gets easier!
Your such a good mom. That seems like allot of work, worry, and stress!
Wow. Poor kid. Glad they caught it in time. Lear ING from you. Ty for sharing. I am also a diabetic.
Thank you so much!
Keep up the grind!! Our was diagnosed at 1.. we know the deal!
He was (& still is!!) such a trooper!!
He is! Thank you!
What a trooper for sure and you guys are wonderful, educated parents that obviously work as a team so well.
What kinds of s/s did Henry have before he was diagnosed?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My goodness. I thought I knew about diabetes, but I really had no clue how involved it is. God bless you all, hope your family is doing well!
Wow great job. You are an amazing mom!
Great video, you out in a lot of effort to keep him safe. I was diagnosed with T1 two weeks ago and I was told I don't have to measure anything I eat but to just play around with my insulin doses. It's working so far but my sugars can definitely improve. I noticed you have a carb reference sheet on your fridge, did you make that yourself or did you find it on a website? I'd definitely like to have one!
hes such a brave boy to do all this!
Amy and Andy you guys are rockstar parents!!👍
I have been diabetic for 10 years or so and my girlfriend has been diabetic since she was two( now 25 y/o) the life is not easy and is a constant struggle. You seem to be doing a very good job with your little one.
Love that! Thank you!
Awww. THank you!
Thank you for sharing! This seems really hard but it looks like you are doing a great job!
Hi Amy, great video sheds a lot of light into taking care of a young child with diabetes!
Have you tried Continuous Glucose Monitoring? This lets you see what his glucose is all day long. He wears a sensor for a week and you can see where he is at the touch of a button.
Great job, keep it up!
