My name is Amy. Stay-at-Home Mom to three boys and a Goldendoodle Puppy. I have been vlogging since 2009, before I had kids. 11 years later, my husband and I have three boys- Henry (10), Evan (7), Charlie (5) and Ruby our new puppy. We recently moved from the heart of Minnesota to the family farm where I grew up in Southern Minnesota. I share our life on the farm with our boys and puppy along with sharing our Type 1 diabetes journey with our oldest son. I love sharing easy recipes, new products and organization tips as well. I share it all! #Momlife #Type1diabetes #Goldendoodle

Oh my goodness poor Henry! What an ordeal!
Going vegan is so healthy and way cheaper than. Meat and cheese are so expensive now, it’s ridiculous! Praying for your son’s healing.
Can’t imagine they both are young men now.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was only 1 in a half. 34 years, I've been stuck with it. 😞
I just started using them. I have used 5 and 4 have not worked during the startup
Nearly $300 Canadian! YIKES! Target throwers are about $200, where's the $300 spent on this ($50 to manufacture)ball thrower?
Succinct and very informative. Thank you. The genetic diversity of maize, the evolution, and the research conducted is absolutely fascinating!
I know this is about one of your previous videos, but I've been following you since day one and often binge-watch your videos because I love you and your family! Came across your video about starting your business and just hoping it's been a success! You're so brave Amy!
They were very good in the beginning, and we were very satisfied, but after a few months of use, the performance drastically went down.
I'd steal and eat so many of these as a kid in the candy isle at the grocery store!! I love white chocolate/yogurt pretzels!
The Speed Queen TR7 washing machine is way better. Very quiet machine!!!
My F1 goldendoodle doesn't shed either. And surprisingly doesn't get matted . I wanted an F1 over an f2 because I wanted more of the golden retriever genes then the poodle
Thats really bad😢
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
It happens the same way to me, I waste 2 sensor trying to change an expired transmitter, my daughter was 6 hours no data, thank you
Did you compare the glucose readings with the actual meter?
Do they still make it if so where to buy it
I wear both. Depends on the shoe. I wear ankle with my hokas when I walk and usually no shows for all other shoes
Aww! You just popped back up on my feed here so came over to check for a new Ruby update! She looks like she’s living the dream! You had some of the first videos I watched on doodles before getting my baby. When my pup was younger we would watch the videos of ruby running around on the farm as a puppy and she would seriously watch from start to finish, it was the cutest ever! Thanks for all fun (and informational) content of Ruby!! ♥️
No driving if he's not responsible!
It's great to hear an average dog owner talk about their experience with the electric collar. Especially with the other things not just the stim. On the whole the vibrate is actually more aversive to the dig than the stim setting up to about 50%. A lot of the time people will go mental over the use of the "shock collar" without ever actually seen a dog with one on!!
My son just turned 15, he knows how to carb count, when at school or outside away from me ( ofcourse he makes mistakes and error mostly when he is away from me and that's the time that I have to step in and give him instructions by phone/ messaging ) but when he is home especially during summer (no school), I take over doing everything 100% for 2 reasons: 1st to give him a time off and a break from dealing and worrying about this constant 24/48 hours burden, battle and stress, and 2nd to keep his blood suger more in range to lessen the future complications. In addition, even though he almost knows how to change his omnipod and dexcom I am still doing it for him to give him more freedom and less of an emotional stress! Sooner or later unfortunately they have to be 100% on control thereof I am trying to help him as much as I can while he is still a teenager and living ay home! You are an awesome mom and you are doing great! ❤❤❤
Type 1 Diabetes is insanely difficult to manage for all people.
A friend of mine works with Type 1 kids and helps them and their families in the road to independence. I shared your video with her and this is what she said: Yeah, it kind of sucks with that age bracket but I think as long as she provides a lot of support, doesn’t over nag. Do a daily check in versus each meal and hourly. Maybe she can make a list of his favorite foods and have the portion size and carb count written out and tape to the fridge so it’s a quick glance for him, she might also suggest some apps because he’s probably tech savvy and that might be easier for him to quickly look up a number or type a number. There are so many food apps now it’s awesome. One of them you can take a picture of your food and it gives you a guesstimate. I hope that’s helpful. ❤
Everyone else pretty much already said it. Just keep doing what you're doing. I think you're doing the best you can in a tough situation and if he get's mad at you I know it's not nice but eventually he'll probably look back and see how hard it's been for you too. I get that with my mom a lot as I'm getting older :D. It's insane. I've been watching this channel since 2012 I think ... when I was 18 ahhhh
Still remember one of your first videos where Henry made cookies and got so scared of the mixer sound ha 😊
I keep interfering because it’s so scary with diabetes. I get too scared about the damage it can do. I apologize for nagging too much but it’s for her own good 😢 you would think it would get easier but it doesn’t
you do what you can he will learn in time keep the line of communication open for him he will come to you if he needs help
Oh Amy. My daughter and I go through this all the time. I absolutely hate asking her if she bolused but I also don't like not saying anything then an hour later her saying oh yeah I forgot to when she's so high. I don't know what the answer is either. One of the comments below mentioned their kid eating late into the night. We have a cut off time for food unless its a special occasion. Ice cream is the worst right before bed at least for us. I hope Henry is feeling better and his throat is healing. Ive been praying for him!🙏
You're doing the right thing, that's all you can do. Focus on being a Mom so when any of lifes other problems occurs hes more likely to consult you
My son was diagnosed only 3 years ago and he's 11 now. I keep saying he should be more independent then im like hes still a kid, i can take over this for now. Summertime has been hard bc he stays up too late eating and not bolusing or giving corrections so his BS is crazy most of the time. Glad he will be back in school with a normal eating schedule. I am exhausted.
Same!!!! I'm not a fan of late night eating and all the time eating in the summer. 🤪 I'm looking forward to school eating schedule as well!
It sounds like he needs some scaffolding / more guidance before he can manage his care independently. I wonder whether you could go back to managing his care for now and work together to get him independent with one skill at a time? Maybe Henry could help you come up with a plan. You could decide together what the skills are and what level of support he needs with each of them. Wishing you lots of luck this sounds tricky xx
We've tried a few times to have me be more involved again. It's been impossible to get that torch back though. He likes his independence.
@@dreamflight6000 that makes a lot of sense! I could see if his expectation is to be independent and then he’s getting feedback that could be tough for both of you. You do such a wonderful job with your boys! let us know how things evolve. Goodluck Goodluck!
I feel for you! Unless he is being neglectful of his diabetes, id let him continue with the trial and error 🙂 and of course let him know that if HE has any questions or concerns, you are of course always there 😀
Hi, I would express your concerns to him and let him know you’d like to still help him. Then, ask him how he would like you to help. Offer him suggestions like would it help if I occasionally remind you to pre-bolus? I wish I had someone who would remind me to pre-bolus! Almost everyone learns best from making mistakes. It is great that you’re there to offer him support and help. I’ve had diabetes 45+ years, and I’m good health. However, I always hated carb counting and never really did it. It is super time consuming and with the most recent technology, I’m not convinced it is worth the time. I’m in range 85%+ of the time, and I live a great life. Diabetes sometimes gets in the way, but it mostly doesn’t.
That's good to hear. This technology is really amazing and I'm so blessed that we live in this day and age with it.
Just here to commend you for being so thoughtful and loving.
you have experience, he’s still learning. guide him but don’t try to bug him more than once.
Don’t have a diabetic teen but definitely have a teen that I have to nag 😂… I’m sure he appreciates the freedom. Give yourself grace. 🤍
Amy Dear, you’re right, he’s living at home and you can guide him. When he leaves, from watching your videos since the beginning, I need you to know that you are #1 as a Mom to a diabetic child! 🙏🧡 2:11
He's learning - I think it's completely appropriate for you to continue to guide and help him manage his type 1
Oh my gosh I hope Henry gets to feeling better soon it's really important to advocate for yourself if you think something is wrong get a second opinion I'm glad you did😊
That's awesome I live in metro Detroit but I go to school online at Bellevue university and its in Nebraska and I always wondered what it was like thanks for sharing this.
Oh yeah! Cool. I saw signs for that.
@@dreamflight6000 that's so awesome. I love the Detroit zoo and have wrote essays about it and alot of my professors from Bellevue have talked about the zoo you went too and how awesome it is. it looks incredible. I loved your video
I feel you, I’m in a similar boat trying to get appropriate referrals to specialists for my child (speech therapy actually) and you definitely have to be a huge advocate for your kids and push a bit to get the ball rolling instead of a “wait and see” approach! So I definitely sympathize with your situation!! I know you’re an SLP, I will say boy it’s kinda hard finding an outpatient Peds SLP! Especially one who will evaluate both articulation and feeding issues. Finally found one in our network but it took a lot of work!
I look for jobs all the time and rarely find one where I live. I wonder if there's a shortage by you. I'm glad you found a place!!! Where I used to live the occupational therapists did the feeding therapy.
@@dreamflight6000 ok that’s a good thought, if I can’t find a Peds SLP for feeding therapy maybe I’ll look into OT’s! I’m a PT myself but I treat pelvic floor, so I’d love to get some advice from SLP or OT about pediatric feeding/articulation questions!!
I have never been to Omaha or Nebraska but wow that playground looks seriously amazing!! Their zoo looks incredible too! Definitely keeping this in mind for when my kids get older, looks like it was a perfect trip for your kids’ ages!! Love watching your videos amy I always look forward to the next one!
I want to go back. Such a cool place.
Omaha Native Here!! How cool!! 😎
We loved it there!
I live in Missouri, but teach in Iowa.
With Henry being diabetic, are there numbers where you don't let him driving or seeing a ⬇⬇ on dex and do you check with finger stick before driving. Driving while low is the equivalent to driving drunk. Never drive below 80 mg/dl.
He just got his permit so he hasn't done much driving yet and we are right next to him but yes that'll be a worry of mine when he's driving on his own.
That looks like so much fun. I can’t believe how tall all of your boys are getting. They are all such good kids. Thanks for taking us along. I love watching your vacation videos every summer.💗
