Radical Honesty: How to Transform Your Life by Telling the Truth
I would recommend Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche. He is one of the best deconstructive philosophers of all time and it helps to prove your point that every philosophy/philosopher has its pros and cons. I like to think of philosophy as something which constantly repeats itself throughout history because it is only our reaction to the current circumstances we find ourselves in. Great video!

As a determinist, this doesn't apply. But I understand the point of this.
Your mind is you.
@@davidh5101 there's a difference between mind and conciousness. see, every human is unique it self by his body and mind. Even if you look at things, its impossible to find the perfect exact the same thing. this is because mind, body, things, have huge ammount of memory. But theres no such things as my conciousness and your concioussness, conciousness is the fundamental.
What is I?
Philosophy is a conversation through history. Itâs a story about us and our world. Read philosophy as a social history and you see how thinkers are responding to the issues they saw around them. Our ideas connect to the consensus we form and shows how and why we got where we did.
Yes damn right, best explanation of the subject. Very nice!!

You read 50 philosophy books but came out with a short series of self-help platitudes. Well done.
He skimmed two and listened to a lot of Alan Watts.
@@lehkitteh9927 Marcus Aurelius is another guy who likes platitudes. Meditations is a short book of fortune cookie philosophy and boring bromides by an emperor clearly in the midst of a midlife crisis.
@@MegaLotusEater I came here to expand my knowledge of philosophy. No real books under my belt yet. You seem like somebody who has read deeper stuff than fortune cookie philosophy. Got any suggestions? :3
@@lehkitteh9927 Bertrand Russell's 'History of Western Philosophy' is a good summary of ideas from the ancients to modern.
Also, on CZcams, there's a famous BBC series of philosophical talks with Bryan Magee. It's entry level but actually a very good place to start.
@@lehkitteh9927 What is Philosophy? by Gilles Deleuze gives a really good basic rundown of the field, probably a good one for gauging how much it will click with you.

One thing I try to remember is that everyone can teach you something. One quote that has stuck with me is, "Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools speak because they have to say something." It has helped me be more tactful and intricate with my words so I can express my ideas and be able to listen before I speak.
My first philosophy book has been Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky, which I've thoroughly enjoyed and can't wait to read Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzsche. I try to see the bigger picture in life and not stress over the little things. And, I also wish to soak up as much knowledge as I can, I want to keep learning throughout my life and want to learn from everyone I can and be able to just appreciate life.
I love Crime and Punishment. Have you read Dostoyevsky's other works yet? They are all so thought-provoking.

Harry Frankfurtâs books On Inequality and Reasons for Love are worth reading. The latter is not an easy read, though. I enjoyed the Wittgenstein module i did at university. Epistemology was interesting but gets difficult quite quickly, same with Logic.

Good vid, wish he included Nietzsche who really takes you on a thrill ride through history and philosophy.
Iâve been grinding out self-help books for a challenge recently. Iâm mid way through âThe Richest Man in Babylonâ. Great video man!
The last one is probably the more important one. I knew lots of people being stuck in a unique philosophy and... well, didn't seem to make them really happy at all. They looked frustrated for some reasons..

Awesome video
fkn awesome man i am rn have been learning about phyilospy for two years and the intro was so fkn relatable lol.
You won't believe it if I tell you how much you and I have same experiencess in life. I watched most of your important videos and I realized these are exactly what happened in my life, and this man has same beliefs and attitudes as me. Although with one big difference, you've reached to this position at the age of 24 but me on the other hand got reached at age of 29. It was a very painful journey for me and I wish I could've become better sooner.
What you are doing with making these videos are wonderful, because you are helping others just like you and me to become better sooner in every aspects of their lives before it becomes too late. You are showing how most of our problems have so much easy solutions, so we should seek right answers instead of those answers which society is trying to presents to us. We should be aware of traps and illusions, so put our focus on becoming a better person for ourselves and others sake, not becoming the one who wants just consume everything other people offer, and become a greedy and selfish person. So thank you.
Sorry about my bad English. I hope you see this comment. I wish someday we meet each other in person. I don't have any friends but having you as a friend is such a great honor. Until then take care and be safe.
Thanks for the love
I can imagine you would also like Eckhart Tolle, other books on mindfulness and much of the Buddhist-based spiritualities as well. Maybe existentialism to some degree as well.
The books in philosophy I've read so far:
1. Meditations
2. Letters from a Stoic (Seneca)
3. Descartes
4. Kierkegaard, Fear and Trembling
5. Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil
6. Heraclitus
7. Zizek, Event, The Sublime Object of Ideology
8. Badiou, Wittgenstein's Antiphilosophy
9. The Monarchy of Fear, Nussbaum
10. Camus, The Stranger
. . . And I'm about halfway through about 20 others (mood reader).
One book I can recommend is "Meandering Sobriety". Although it's a philosophical book, it is a bit humorous and still thought-provoking. The book is a series of funny and thought-stimulating stories that will help you have a moment of escape from hustle reality to see and understand it deeper. Most importantly, it's short and can be completed in a day.
Good info thanks. Best book I read was Science of survival and Linda Goodman star signs. (yeah I know that last one isn't philosophy, but it was damn close to philosophy when you get to read how accurate the information was.)

Man this is crazy. So....I graduated Highschool in Texas and left there to go to college at SNU in Oklahoma, City. Dropped out after the first semester. Left there and went and worked in the oilfield. Worked there for seven years and really thought I had it figured out. Got laid off one day and asked myself...is this it? This cant be the entire reason we are born. To work till we die. Although we are born to Live and live till death. So I challenged myself, I got into acting because its something I've always wanted to do. Chasing that till this day. Four year's into acting and have currently booked some pretty cool projects. Moved to Los Angeles to discover a different lifestyle other than the one I had living in Texas. Let me tell you it was a major culture shock. Small town farm boy living just North East of downtown LA. I mean 15 mins from downtown and about 25mins from the "Hollywood" sign. Anyways...Moved there in December of 2019 to chase my dream. Well four months later EVERYTHING gets shut down due to "We all know what shut us down in 2020" So I moved back to Texas just lost. In my pursuit of acting it forced me to start studying the Art's and philosophy. Although I'm a very new guy to the study...I've always questioned my existence and well the entire purpose of this life. Well fast forward to a year later here I am watching this video. I mean this is a sign right. Well this was alot of jabbering but I find that it may relate in someway. Just wanted to let you know where I'm at in my journey. Post virus and all the crazy things happening in the world right now. I feel like this is a dying study and I feel like its so important. Thanks. haha Its late and this makes no sense but just wanted to let you know that there are a few of us still listening.

When youâre faced with something you cannot change perhaps nagging worry as an exercise would be best looked into. There is value in evaluating motivation for worry. Maybe âchangingâ as a desired outcome is less important than chipping away at why you think it needs changing.
We could discover something about ourselves in context, not a worthless outcome. We could also discover that something once believed unchangeable is not nearly so and avoid a pattern of labeling to prevent us from doing the busy work of trying.

Good message. The part about you and the other being the same sounds Hegelian (Phenomenology of Spirit, the chapter on Self-Certainty). One of the most impactful philosophy books I've ever read, a few years after I stopped being a theist, was Donald Crosby's The Specter of the Absurd.
