- In the so-called "Love Triangle Murder Trial," yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong is on trial for murdering a professional bicyclist named Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson. Kaitlin was in a relationship with professional bicyclist Colin Strickland. When Kaitlin and Colin were on a break in their relationship, Colin very briefly dated Mo. Friends described this as basically a very casual, very brief dating period, without much emotional connection. Things didn't work out romantically for Colin and Mo, but they allegedly remained friends. Prosecutors allege that Kaitlin became very jealous of Mo ever since, and that this jealousy drove her to take Mo's life.
After she was questioned by police, she fled to Costa Rica on her sister's passport, where she dyed her hair and had plastic surgery that changed her face dramatically. After she was apprehended, she tried escaping a second time, this time from a doctor's appointment she had in jail.
Trial in this case began on October 30th in Austin, TX when a jury was paneled.
On November 1st, the prosecution and defense gave their opening statements. This video is a recap of Day 1 of this trial.

Did you watch opening statements? What do you think about this trial??
I love you said you need to make a shit sandwich😂😂😂
This is definitely The States case.
Sooooooo, is "don't flee the country using someone else's name and passport, get plastic surgery and then break out of jail when you get caught" legal advice? :p
I mean… maybe general life advice 😅
I feel so bad for Mo’s family 😢
She was so full of life.
*This ladies and gents, is why you have to be very careful who you get involved with* you never know what they have in their head. This man could of died too.
She didn't get involved stalkers stalk it's why there called stalkers.
There is one thing for certain, Mo was innocent and sounds like a wonderful person.
A real tragedy.
It's hard not to see this as an open and shut case.
As for her "relationship" with Colin, it might have been more than friendship, but it's not the kind of thing a well-adjusted person does out of the blue.
There is only one person with a clear motive.
@LegalBytes i tried listening to the opening arguments but the audio was too low and I couldn’t follow it. I am very interested in this case, and I’m glad you are coving it. I look forward to your updates.
Thank you! Yes, the audio was REALLY tough to sit with, and I'm so sorry it interfered that much with your experience. Hopefully this recap helps!
YES thank you LegalBytes for doing this recap! I also tried to watch the Kouri Richins stuff yesterday and the audio was horrific too, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to sit through this bad audio either.
Oh just to add some context, I've had a migraine for what will be three weeks now tomorrow, so I'm already struggling to hear you as it is because I'm only able to have the volume on about a 2 or 3, & so I've already got the speed down to 1/2 as fast. 😅😖😫🫣😵💫🤕
So sad, so many evil people out there. prayers for MO’s family.
Ill give her credit on trying to really avoid capture.
I think it's also worth noting that APD has a less than stellar record of officer conduct. You've got a former chief who habitually engaged in sexual harassment of female officers (including offering to drop disciplinary proceedings if they let him spank them), a captain who murdered his soon-to-be ex wife, numerous incidents of patrol officers being shown to have lied under oath and no less than 3 detectives convicted of planting evidence all within the past 15 years.
I'd argue any reasonable juror would have to at least consider the possibility of police misconduct/ mistakes.
Now none of that seems to be applicable to this case and IMHO the evidence is pretty overwhelming. Just thinking of factors that would affect jurors perception of the investigating agency..
These recaps are the best. I couldn't hear the opening statements and the truth is...I'd 1000% rather hear a twenty-minute recap than two hours of live trial. :)
Thank you.
Cool, finally a good and professional channel that covers all types of cool legal cases, not just celebrity cases
Her analysis is so well-balanced
Walk away. Do everything to avoid prison. No bf is worth it. Never.
100%
she seems verging on delusional- like the actual crime itself, then flying off and having plastic surgery, idk does she think the rest of the world are too dumb to find her? wonder what she's been saying to her lawyer in private
So Cash's Ring did not capture Armstrong entering or exiting?
Apparently not. I’m not sure why-hopefully that gets explained at trial.
It is very rare to have an eyewitness to a murder, so I would not put much stock in that. I doubt many people knew Mo was in Austin and even less knew where she was staying. Kaitlin did, because she had access to Colin's texts. That is why she knew they were going to the pool and to get something to eat. She stalked them. It is going to be interesting to find out where she was when she called Colin (when he ignored the call) and when she then text'd him. Where did her phone ping???? Must have been close to the pool, as her jeep was seen as they left the pool/dinner.
Thank you for covering this
I wish you were covering the Maya Kowalaski case! I love your court recaps ❤️ this is a crazy story! Will be watching out for how it plays out throughout your videos
Thank you! And yeah I’m sad I missed the boat on that one somewhat. Maybe I can do a bit of a global recap of that one if there’s enough interest
Law and lumber is doing a great job doing nightly recaps on the Kowalaski case!
Now nobody wins. If someone doesn’t want you, it’s a sign that there’s a better person out there! So much better than living in prison!
thanks for covering this trial 🥰
How was she able to get yoga pants? She convinced them to take her leg shackles off for her hospital visit too. What kind of correction officers are our tax dollars paying for?
Ty for the recap! Looking forward to more
Thank you for covering this case. You are appreciated
You’re right! This case is wild. Thanks for another amazing legal summary.
Appreciate all your reviews. Thank you.
Great recap!
Thank you for the update. I wish we could watch this trial grrr
“Nuts” is definitely the word for this one. Thanks for sharing-I’d never heard about this case before.
Excellent coverage!
Amazing video!!!!
Yeah watching the prosecutions opening statement was wild.
And then there was objections in the defense's opening.
Gold
I love these recaps. This story is crazy! Thanks LegalBytes for all your hard work on these videos!
I wish we could see the trial live but grateful for you making recaps for us
Fascinating insight.
Wow this is really interesting. Thanks Alyte. 🙂
Thanks for the recap. Tried watching the longer live stream on replay but could barely hear anything.
Great info! THANK YOU for not having music playing while you were talking!
YES! I knew I couldn't be the only one who hates "background music".
Thank you for covering this! It's getting some traction locally, but I have no idea why it seems to be flying so far under everyone else's radar...
He noticed the bike rack on the jeep! Incredible!
Yeah... getting surgery to make yourself less attractive is definitely hard to sell as not exclusively an attempt to evade capture, let alone on someone else's passport.
I’m looking forward to All the updates on the trial. Definitely a good trial but defense has not got much to fight against that is clear.
Terrific analysis ~ fair to all. Absorbing and moving without being sensational. Thank you.
Thank you for the updates! I just finished the first stream (woah) excited to watch this one.
Hope you're getting better and you're not too hard on yourself!
I heard that they couldn't detain her because they'd spelled her name wrong.
Hello :) Great work, love your videos. Is there anything new for Marilyn Manson ?
Murder the hypotenuse, a tale as old as time
I'm not good at trigonometry so I had to look up what you meant. You're referring to the love triangle aspect of this case e.g. "The story of King David and Bathsheba in The Bible (2 Samuel 10-12), where the king sends a general named Uriah on a suicide mission because he fancies Uriah's wife "
I hope there is Justice for Mo 🙏🏼
Theory on the gum : They found chewed gum of the same brand near the bicycle with matching DNA.
That’s an interesting theory! We’ll see what comes up.
Love that your videos always pay the pet tax lmao.
Straight out of a telenovela!!
Finally getting back into law tube. What better way than an ongoing trial? Love the new office.
Making plastic surgery to escape is nuts to me. I know some mobsters did it too. And running away during an appointment? Not a great look.
Running is her only hope for freedom if she's guilty.
Could you please talk about the TikTok Psychic case
Thanks for the recap! I'd never heard of this trial before; sounds quite interesting.
Just hearing your recap in the "What happened" section, I'm a little surprised that the defense isn't going the route of, "she's being framed by Colin, and all those times she fled and tried to hide her identity, she was actually hiding from Colin, not the law." At least, that's where my mind went when I was thinking of alternative scenarios.
It would be a bit hard to explain why she'd flee jail in that case, but it could explain the passport and plastic surgery, at least. And maybe there's some other stuff that wouldn't be explainable with that theory.
Ah well. Probably too late for that now... I'm guessing it's generally a bad idea to completely change your defense strategy _after_ the opening statements are already made?
Collin is a hot tempered man child who appears to lack self awareness. Is he an abuser??? I don’t know the answer to that but I do wonder.
Darrel Brooks changed his defense story almost every day 😂
How did she get yoga pants to put under her jail pants?
Have you done a recap for Trial Day 6?
Can’t find on your channel🙏🏼
It's currently being uploaded!
"thats one point for the defendant's favor"
Oh nice, lets check the score. 1,000 to 1 points.......
Interesting.
Kitty!!
Kaitlin Cash 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💔
Love your pretty tuxie kitty!! 🧡
This guy was a ‘player’. Men like this should also be held legally responsible for driving their partners to such emotional behavior… driving them to literally crazy actions! Many men do this their whole life. They need to suffer legal consequences as well for inciting this behavior. If you listen to the whole story of the way he basically manipulates these women, you will understand what I’m talking about. His partner is apparently guilty of this terrible crime, but if he had been straightforward and honest with these two women (& others…) this would NEVER have happened. In our legal system, there should be some consequence for these men’s dishonest actions when it results in such a serious crime. Mo would be alive today if he wasn’t a selfish ‘player’…Seriously.
Men and women who do this should pay consequences. Civilly, it’s called suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress. These cases are becoming more and more common with large pay outs. Fck around and find out!
So she planed the murder for months?! and than one can see her car in front of the victims house! Killers should watch true crime on CZcams
I think its hilarious that she has to look at her new face everyday, and know she paid for it and it was all for nothing
And the surgery makes her look worse, physically
@@samsunggalaxyj3prime889 so much!
I watched the opening statements but had no idea of what this was all about. Now I'm invested! Bring on the 🍿
At the beginning of the video:
Cat: Whatcha doing mom, booooooring bye
Dog: I don't care
(six minutes later)
Dog: Yep, cat was right, this is boring, mom is just blah-blah-blah-ing.
Me: This is good insightful legal commentary; I'm going to stay to the end. And comment for the algorithm gods.
Her plastic surgery isn’t anything to brag about. I would be so devastated not to be able to recognize my features while looking in the mirror. That is why they I am convinced she is guilty. Why change your face after 30 years
It looks like she had jaw surgery and a nose job. Her chin is shorter than it used to.
She definitely had her eyelids lifted. Her nose looks the same.
Escape shows guilt of consciousness? Apparently, no one watched “The Fugitive…..”
That's *different* because it's Harrison Ford 😂
@@LegalBytesMedia True, I shouldn’t compare to a guy who’s allowed to land planes on taxi ways.
@@mikemck4796 I mean he DID earn those stripes when he managed to defeat all those terrorists back when he was the Commander in Chief... 🙃
Most people have PS to look better. 🧐
I like that she spawned yoga pants.
I mean to be fair, you never known when you're going to need to strike an emergency sun warrior pose 😂
I'm hoping they get brought in as evidence. "We have everything against her, even the pants she tried to use as a disguise to flee police custody."
She has watched too many movies.
Does anyone know how to watch a trial (specifically this one) in person? The courthouse is 10 mins away & I need to see this in person!
I think you just go down there and if there's enough seating you can watch it. Trials are public events.
Show up the morning of, and you should be able to get in depending on how popular it is.
She doesn’t look much different. What plastic surgery?
She got plastic surgery to look worse? First time for everything, I guess
Its so funny that she has yoga pants that look like old timey prison pants.
Oh! No the pants you see her wearing in the video footage are actually her prison pants. She apparently took them off after hopping over the fence
@@LegalBytesMedia oh wow. They still wear stripes in some places. I didn't know.
@@gcooper642 I was just as surprised as you to learn this! It feels very “Shawshank Redemption” lol
@@gcooper642 The prison system switched to orange jumpsuits after many embarrassing arrests of innocent people wearing black & white striped yoga pants followed by many opportunities to arrest escapees missed due to a reluctance to bother innocent people wearing black & white striped yoga pants.
I don't see a big difference in her appearance from the plastic surgery.
She is going down. I feel bad. But next time
walk away, baby, just walk away! Ouch.
I messaged the boyfriend when this happened and surprisingly he responded to me and we had a conversation.
So shocked he responded to me because his messages must of been flooded as it just happened.
He didn’t say much just said he didn’t cheat and things were difficult.
That's super creepy dude, leave him alone.
i just told him not to do any interviews because it will just get worse for him and last longer in the media @@joshgillam5130 he seemed to be grateful for my message. i didnt message him after that
Apparently even with this overwhelming evidence... prosecutor dont even bother to ask for death penalty ....... hmmmm I wonder why?
I like that her new face matches her heart.
Do I see a chocolate in the back???
Yes! That’s Indy, our chocolate lab mix. If you can believe it, she was a street puppy 💙
Def a nose job
