Much love from Greece to all SAHB fans globally! It surprised me to read Americans were generally unaware of him... Cause as a greek I relate him more to the american rnr tradition and mentality. He could be feeling at home on stage with Screaming Jay Hawkins, the bands from CBGB's, Max's, the west coast rockers... Iggy, garageheads, bluesmen, rockabillies, psychobillies, anyone anyone. It is a real shame America missed on him. Nice of you to scavenge more than mainstream. Cheers.
It's wierd to Me that people didn't know about SAHB! Another local band that We all saw countless times, that never got the coverage or recognition They deserved.
@@lesliemackay7853 I was introduced to them by a friend of a friend that traveled 1000 miles away from home. 40 years later ,I have still not meet of even heard of another Canadian that have know of SAHB. I will forever be grateful to my friend Dave for introducing this band to me

Alex and I treaded on the same ground, The Miami Seaquarium, of course he was long dead when I visited, back in '89 but I read an article about his band performing in Miami at the time, so he went there. Alex was larger than life and burned out too soon, his alcoholism didn't help either. Probably my favorite frontman from that era, there is a book about his life that is worth reading too.
For those who do not think KISS was influenced by this band. Gene stole Chris Glen's stance and at 1:29 of this video Gene may have got the tongue idea. I had front row at Akron Civic Theatre and this will ALWAYS be my all-time favorite concert. SENSATIONAL!!!

I was lucky enough to see SAHB live many times in the early 70's, and it was an amazing experience that I will never forget, never equalled since ! Best gig was London Palladium ! But why have "fake canned laughter" & applause at the "funny bits !!
Blessed to have seen them four times (not a shabby record for a yank!), and my favorite band of all time. That's why... I am... the Tomahawk Kid! Love these guys!
What a find, remembers me the good old days of real acts and music. Saw them at the Olympia in Paris around 73 I think, and at the Reading festival. Still in love with this fabulous band.
Sensational to see this, just as I remember them in their pomp. Seeing the audience all sat down is kinda weird....we always rushed the stage when the lights went down. RIP Alex, Ted...the Band really was 'somethin' else'

This was from In Concert which aired on ABC that aired every Friday night from 1973 to 1976. Never will forget this performance I was hooked right away.
Ahead of their time in many ways. Just a great combination of individual styles that gelled perfectly. The original Tear Gas band was just waiting for Alex to come along.
Pure theatre from Alex, excellenty executed with great music from the band. Takes me back to Hammersmith Odeon in the good ol 70's when I first saw them. Brilliant.

This must be 1976. It looks exactly like the show from the UK spring tour. I saw them at Manchester Free Trade Hall. I was 13, and my mind was completely blown. My dad picked me up and was horrified at all the freaks in the audience. I knew from that moment, I wanted to be with the freaks.
I've seen them here in Holland in 1973,support act of Status Quo. Indeed everybody held his seat ( don't show your emotions you weird Dutch ) and when Status Quo took the stage all got wild! No taste! was my only thought ..........
He is the white blues Voice so authentic and funny In the 70th i am dancing to his Faith healer and about 50jears later I love his style of Next also He is the rock star and entertainer I love him so 👍🎸

I witnessed Alex live. "Supporting" SLADE (who were great!) in the Empire Pool, Wembley. Never bettered as a theatrical rock giant band.
