Constantinople "Warning" (1985)
zhlédnutí 587Před 3 lety
Hailing from Waukegan, IL, "Constantinople" started as a four-piece in late ‘81 and then by '84/'85 (when this recording was made) was a three piece. This recording was made straight out of high school, the members were probably about 19, 20 yrs old. The guitarist and drummer went on to be in noted Chicago blues band Howard and the White Boys a few years later when it started up. But Constantin...

Still awesome 54 years later. Yeah!
Sounds like John Kay is singing with a tape
Thank you so very much for making Parts 1 and 2 of this documentary available to us. This educated and informed me so very much around John Kay's music, perseverance, love for his wife and family and his overall humanity. As one who has lived his whole life in Toronto, Canada, I love John's connection with this city. "Magic Carpet Ride" always has and always will give me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Just an incredible story. Thank you again and best wishes. (Liked and Subscribed)
Thats tricky when john comes back in after the solo, if i was the president the way he entered the vocals
Great live..track.
this is crazy. I've listened to these recordings for 40s years and here I'm seeing them recording them. wow
He is acutely aware of his luck and did not squander his chances..a self made man if ever there was one. worthy of great respect.
Out on my Night Hog, somebody temptin' Hear it scream on by your house The highway sign is my only call 'Cause a demon deep inside keeps driving me to roam Well, I'm nobody's slave, I'm nobody's master Time is mine, morning, night and afternoon And you hitch-hiking woman, when you see me coming Jump on my back and let your hair come tumbling down I'm going downtown to see my lady I'm going downtown to tell her goodbye I won't hang around, it's driving me crazy I'll be out of town 'til the chilly winds start to blow Out on my Night Hog somebody temptin' Hear it scream on by your house My rolling hog will hunt the night And chase the road until it's time to strike Well, I'm nobody's slave, I'm nobody's master Time is mine, morning, night and afternoon And you hitch-hiking woman, when you see me coming Jump on my back and let your hair come tumbling down Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Source: LyricFind
Som lindo curto desde os anos 70
I heard VDGG on an independent radio station 7 years ago. It was Lemmings. I was astounded, I didn't know whether it was super early Iron Maiden or super early Judas Priest lol. That took me down a rabbithole that also led me to KC.
Can anyone believe that Steppenwolf and Grand Funk Railroad aren't in The R&R HOF but ABBA & Janet Jackson ARE ?
My god - they were good! Takes me back....
The use of the glasses as a prop, that he never wears. Pure genius that Alex, and nobody else, would have conjured up. Best live band ever!
Two great talents - love them both.
Hammill Is the best
We need another SAHB in our lives. There will never be anything like these ever! Attitude, drama fantastic.
Madness loved them.
It's uncommon to find a great B-Side song, but here's one of them. Gotta love the lyrics. Compliments for posting the original monophonic recording.
Steppenwolf 7 is a masterpiece.
Our BACK STREET BOYS 🤣🤣🤣
This decade of music 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
John’s lyrical composition is unmatched even to this day. His vocals are unbelievable. Still good enough to fool Black stations who do not know about Steppenwolf! 😂
My introduction to VdGG was hearing "Killer" in 1972, on University of Saskatchewan FM radio! I was never the same. Thank you CJUS.

Hammill is the world's greatest unknown musician. He is a poet, a composer and a singer, all to the utmost of human capacity. It is telling that so few recognise this.
Try creating this with AI!
Zal Cleminson ONE OF THE BEST LARGELY UNKNOWN GUITARISTS OF ALL TIME. Check out all their tracks, he is a freaking beast all over them. And all the time, doing his theatrics barely glancing at his hands. BEAST.
Really like Hammill. I'm from NZ.
Real rock and roll soul. Long gone but never forgotten.
One of my top fav front men. What a lad!! What a mighty group they were!! Thanks for the upload : I never saw this particular shooting before. This version of MCR is mind blowing!
✨👁👁✨
BTBW song will be around beyond your lifetime and more... will be heard places for next 100's of yrs and more its that kinda song only SOME artists strike gold
:Poor kid got brainwashed in a reeducation school.
FUCKIN BRILLIANT
🐺
Best biker band of all time !!!
Out of sight
John Kay just looks like he’s gonna kick somebody’s ass.
Isso e bom demais.....
ジョンレノンの下りをもっと聞きたかった。
Hendrix was the Hammill of the guitar
My first Rock hero was John Kay and Steppenwolf broke my heart when they broke up. I cut 2 yards to buy the album. Years later in the late 80s I got to meet John in Nashville where they played 328 Performance Hall. We spent a little time talking and I got my favorite picture ever the day with John Kay.
Demonic!!

Is that Ted McKenna on drums ?
yep
What a great song
God Dam he was sexy.
VDGG-Saw them at Newcastle City Hall on the "6 Bob" tour and have been hooked ever since..
The fake audience sounds are annoying. Greatest live band I've ever seen.
Saw them in a small club in Cleveland. Warm up was Joan Jet and the Runaways...
greatest band name ever
