Not sure if it was that particular guitar, but my buddy does the finishing for Rickenbacker guitars and was refinishing John Kay’s prime live guitar; well one of the guys in the shop tightened the vice too tight and cracked the neck of the guitar. That guy no longer works at Rickenbacker.
Wow thank you so much for posting this. I’ve never seen this video before and I’ve seen just about every Steppenwolf video out there. What a great version of Hoochie Coochie man
Sadly this was the way they filmed TV shows back then , John is shown wiling but he's not playing the Leads & by the time the solo is about over then they show Mike for a second . They all knew it was what it was & they got the exposure they needed even it was for the most part fake & done recordings already in the bag. Still great to see old footage of one of the great bands we grew up with.
Em 1968 entrei numa loja de discos moto disco no centro RJ.e vi no saldão um vinil do Steppenwolf não tive dúvida comprei mesmo sem saber nada da banda na época um grupo que grava hoochie cochie Man só podia ser fera
Wish I could have been older then 12 so I could've went on a blind double date with him and my friend for his friend maybe could have been fun for us all
The f'kin voice man...
The brilliant guitar work of the young Michael monarch is outstanding. i
John Kay is rocking the hell out of that guitar. And that voice!

Great posting for all of us in the Wolfgang! Always enjoy the new unfounded heritage clips of the Wolf 👍
One of the Best Bands of the 60's And not in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame... but Madonna is??
Awesome band. Saw them five times growing up in the Toronto area. Sure is a howl to see some vintage 🐺
I am so envious! I saw most of them in the 60s but missed Steppenwolf. They were a great band!
Such an amazing piece of history!
Brilliant man!!! 👍👍👍🍺
Thanks. 🍺
So serene. Goodness.
Michael Monarch playing all the guitar riffs and wasn't shown once 😮

Sounds like some one is playing over the video
Pura pauleira kkkkk
Why were many 1960/70’s cameramen or filmmakers so poor when it came to filming Rock n Roll bands. Really pathetic.
because they put it on YT 50+ years later where it's almost free to watch... and they are dead by now?
they only filmed the singer
