I saw them at the Marquee around this time. Zal was in full harlequin outfit. As was common at the time, had never heard any of their music just went on a NME review. They were amazing. One of my favourite gigs ever. As was also common at the time at these club gigs, I was able to stand right at the front of the stage too
I remember the Marquee but only from the 1980s. The original club was on Oxford St. and the final one was on Charing Cross Rd. It briefly reappeared as a name in Islington, run by Dave Stewart, at what is now the O2 Academy. But it was the Wardour St venue that was iconic. Mike Pendleton had the brilliant idea of taking the bands he booked out to field for a summer festival, which after a few locations settled in Reading.
1976...im a 18 year old Canadian kid turned on to SAHB by a couple of "older " boys in my rural home town.Me and older sister go to England,Europe on a tour. Highlight of trip seeing "Vambo Rools" spray ainted on brick WALL !!!
holy cowz Batman!! Zal is nekkid!!🤪 (well his face anyhow) but i am sooo glad that people have saved this kind of stuff!! growing up? in 'Merika and being 8 yrs old at the time this was done i missed out!! thank ya for making sure i got the chance to be exposed to this!!
Wow I’m honoured to be the first comment! Just shy of 300 views 10 months ago, that’s a crime! Never saw footage of SAHB without ZC in his harlequin getup, weird! This is great stuff, thanks for posting! I hadn’t thought of SAHB in quite some time until a couple of days ago and today this pops up, so cool. Did you see that ridiculous tiny bust of AH? Kinda sad, anyway cheers!
The bust was made with money raised by SAHB fans worldwide. Also a tree was planted in the grounds of the Peoples Palace , Glasgow, and a wooden bench , with the lyrics of Last of the Teenage Idols too . All without any input from Glasgow City Council . That’s why it’s small , it was all we could afford. Better than nothing eh ?
Ok Jolly, I’ll chime in. I think it’s absolutely fantastic to come across footage like this. SAHB is a band that should have gone further. Alexander was truly one of a kind. CZcams has been a treasure trove to music lovers everywhere. No lights is one of my favorites!!!
Saw them at Blackburn supporting slade though at the time zal was a bit weird but what a guitarist must add a the time I hadn’t realised how lucky I was to have seen such a great band 🎸🔥
This bloke is one of those type that look old even when he wasn't… a lot of the Scotch are like that. He look like some weird combo of Connelly and Palin - crikey!
Alex was no kid when he joined the lads and started SAHB. Fuck, The Silver Beatles performed on an undercard with Alex in a different band before they made it big. You may know them as simply The Beatles.
GREAT stuff! Just amazed...as always. Alex and the band rool!
Wow. Early Alex (note shorter hair) and Zal (pre-makeup). Birth of a legend
Alex looks like a young Bruce Springsteen.
Trippy rockin band. Glad I stumbled on to this band. Cheers!
Incredible...to this day he remains an incredible unique talent with a phenomenal live band ❤

This just shows that SAHB could really rock with the best of them - but they were so, so much more than that. They were SENSATIONAL!
This is fantastic. I remember the Marquee and it was a small venue. SAHB were such an original and talented band. Vambo still Rools.

Ted. One of the greatest live drummers.
Rock Solid.

Possibly my favourite
So underrated.

The one and only,..... I saw SAHB in 1976 at portsmouth Guildhall, and still today, one of the best gigs and bands live ive seen. 💙
Brilliant.. I saw sahb live at the old Vic 1975, still the best gig I have ever seen. Vambo rools
Top band !!
Thanks for sharing this piece of Scottish rock history
Just finished the SAHB book, a great read.
Pre Zal in clownface! Like Zal & Ted have said if they'd been around during the MTV years they'd have been huge
What a great, underrated band. First time I’ve seen Zal without makeup
We are not worthy...
SAHB rock's

@@bighoggy1 yeah i suppose. Still think he deserves better though but oh well.
@@1HandGuitar so do we
Loved you Alex!
So I’m only the third person to comment on this great footage, how sad. However it doesn’t detract from this great band.

Wow, Zal before the make up. What a gig.
Glasgow rocks went their with Jim Diamond and the band great venue
How come I see lead singers back then holding two microphones?
Strange to see Zal without his makeup.😳
Think this was the first time I saw SAHB.
"Went to bed with a whip in his hand trying to stimulator" where does these lines come from effing brill.
Zal without make up!

that is because they have to work very hard from an early age as another country takes their riches, the poor sods.

no makeup on the guitarist tho
Brilliant unique band 👌
