  • Here is my review of the Ozark Trail Hiker tent available at Walmart for $40. At 6.9 lbs. it's a bit heavy for hiking or backpacking, but I wanted a small tent with a full rain fly that could be strapped onto a kayak. Check out the short review.

    Yep, just bought same tent today. $40. Set it up in the backyard.
    No complaints.
    Good price. Easy setup/teardown.
    Even though it says hiker tent I would definitely not hike this tent no more than a mile for sure. Well-built and lots of ventilation. The fly sits off of the tent and mesh about 2 in, which gives it plenty of room to breathe, hopefully it won't get much condensation with a double wall like that. Heading to Stone Mountain in a couple of weeks this will be my go-to tent

      I still dig this tent for $40. Definitely not for hiking though lol

    What a great way to do a review....Bravo....
    I just bought one on clearance for $20 as a gear tent.....I was worried it was gonna be garbage but from your review it looks pretty legit .... I'm probably gonna use it as a kayak tent as well now after seeing your review...
    Good stuff, thanks I appreciate it....👍👍

    We have a 25 dollar Ozark Trail backpacker tent and it's LEGIT for the price. The brand rarely disappoints me!

      @@TheDcrocks1 Haha yes thanks for reminding me lol it's a great tent my previous tent is a 4 season with skirts and it beats it by a long shot I love how its a longer tent so my feet are not cramped im 5 foot 7 and have plenty room but it does lack in width its claimed as a 2 person but you would be on each other now with one person its enough for ur gear I have with me on my trips a $700 backpack setup and able to store it all inside along with my sleeping bag and Matt however another con is its not the tallest you can set up inside but getting out you need to crawl out or else you rub up against the door ways

      @@TheDcrocks1 Also it has been put through one hell of a rain storm and held up pretty well and have tested it in this december with it reaching around 10 degrees aslong as you have a good sleeping bag which mine is only a 35 degree bag but i have a insulated mat. I do fine have no condensation issues like my previous tent i woke up in a swamp in that one once

      @@shanehunt7553 what about wind? You have to replace the original stakes it comes with it, for sure. What kind of stakes did you get? Im thinking of going to harbor freight and getting some dollar stakes.
      Allot of people, mostly everyone, ha suggested to replace the stakes.

      @@TheDcrocks1 the stakes are not the best nor the worst they are a little heavy but better than the ones that came with my previous tent which waz aluminum I normally angel when putting the stakes in and they hold but I have thought about buying some that are more lightweight and have more of a hold because i was in a wind storm in when i woke up the next morning two of them popped out a inch

    You set the tent poles up wrong...I have the same tent. The poles go parallel to the tent...not crossed

    • @ChainsawFilms
      @ChainsawFilms Před 3 lety

      If you ran the poles parallel, you would not have a place to hook the main roof hook. The roof center would sag. Plus the directions from the manufacture says to cross them.

    Do you have a recommendation for a good budget tent that is better ventilated for summer/rainy summer? I noticed you talked about it being hot with fly and the vents being high
