      Wannana Atson it’s just cotton and a string. It’s very cheaply made. It’s marked up higher because the manufacturers want a profit. On top of that, stores want a profit so they’ll increase the price more.

    • @wannanaatson3731
      @wannanaatson3731 Před 4 lety +1

      ay den Aaand they need money. And it depends on who your buying it from. If people really want cheap tampons you can literally get them for two dollars. And think about the fact the cotton and the string has to be bought, and then put together. Someone’s got to pay for the time it takes to make and wrap them too.
      And people complaining about this, tell me why a men’s shoe for the same exact size in women’s shoes cost more?

    What I genuinely don’t understand is why the packaging being pink is such a big deal? I think a better way would be to deconstruct those stereotypes we have about colours and stop making men feel like pink is a female colour. I personally feel like making packages yellow to be more inclusive only enforces gender stereotypes. I think companies should rather diversify their “male” products, make them more colourful etc. But saying this product shouldnt be pink bc trans men are also using it, just re-enforces that pink products shouldnt be used by men.
    Edit: That’s not to say that their packaging isn’t extremely ugly lmao, yours is def much more visually appealing.

      In this case, Unilever is a gigantic corporation and very rarely redesigns their products. It's considered risky to radically change a product's packaging as repeat customers may have difficulty identifying the item on the shelf, and then choose something else.
      It's only within the last 10 years that changing your branding to be less stereotypical is almost expected, let alone acceptable.

    First off, I'm not offended about anything and don't really care what these look like. Just hoping to shed some light: pretty much all packaging/sales decisions are made based on data/numbers. The reason the packaging is like that, is that it sells better. It's not about excluding anyone, or maintaining traditional roles or anything. It's ONLY about getting the most people possible to buy it.
    Like I said, not bashing anyone or anything. Just trying to explain kels question "why do they have to be like this". It's because it makes the most business/financial sense. But hey, maybe they'll make a neutral colored alternative in smaller quantities. That would make sense.
    Also, despite knowing that you need it and not needing to be "sold" that product, you do have to choose between brands. Hence the marketing.

    • @starvision4233
      @starvision4233 Před 2 lety

    Who says tampons empower women?? Who's empowered by bleeding and getting painful cramps every month and paying pink tax to get a NECESSITY?

    *love* this type of content, *TRANS RIGHTS!*
    -also, edit, I'm glad u brought up the matter of inclusivity regarding hygiene products that are targeted towards binary genders. As an ally- I'd never thought of this before! You've opened up my mind a little more, and im thankful : )

    okay but as a trans guy i love this so much. that time of the month is full of horrible dysphoria and i hate it. this, something so simple, would help me feel loads better about buy/using these products. also you are so talented and creative. thank you for all of your content.

    I have a trans best friend who hates tampon packaging so he ordered a bunch of stickers he loves off amazon and decorated the tampon box and now he just discards the new box and puts them in the decorated box and makes it much more comfortable to be laying out and doesn’t feel the need to hide them as much. If anyone is looking for ideas he was truly genus with that one 💕💕

    It’s so relieving seeing you go through the same design process of rearranging and fixing it so many times. I always doubt myself when it I constantly change things, love how it turned out!!

    Me as the video was starting: man it’d be dope if she made it gender neutral
    Her: “trans and nonbinary issues”
    Me: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    the term "assigned female at birth" (afab) is a good replacement for "trans men and nonbinary people", since there's nonbinary people who were assigned male at birth.
    thank you for this video, great job
