42:56 trauma-core makes no sense, because in modern terminology the suffix "core" itself is referring to an aesthetic, and trauma is not an aesthetic. the imagery is just edgy and provides no coping mechanisms, the term itself makes it sound like glorification rather than a cope. it's quite literally tantamount to those edgy 2014 tumblr sh posts everyone made fun of
most of these aesthetics only exist online and are only popular amongst terminally online people, to be honest I think that adding the suffix "core" doesn't add more substance to an already existing word and is rather only slapped onto a word as a form of reclamation because they think they are doing something new

@@dolislinI think it's more of the aspect of creating key words to find the certain "cute mixed with trauma" images, because I've never seen anyone dress "traumacore". But calling it "edgy" and "cringe" is just a lazy take. Let people express themselves how they want to. I was shocked too when I learned what it was, but I'm not those people, and everybody copes with thing differently.
As a goth, thank you, got everything right immediately. same with punk and emo and metal differences and intricacies. This video needs and deserves more views.
For your sake, I’m glad this is an underrated video. Lord knows that you’d have tons of comments bombarding you about misinterpreting an aesthetic, or claiming that your wrong.
Yeah I feel like people naturally migrate in and out of aesthetics with time and lifestyle changes but only being in one and being confined to one specific aesthetic seems forced and unnatural
a few to add. - meatcore - xspiritualism - youtube poop - lolcows -analog horror -digital horror -dark aero (this one reminds me of the wrestling scene from the first spiderman movie and stoner ps3 owners) - ancient y2k (runescape, early elder scrolls games) - hiroshi nagai vaporwave (the style from the engelwood - crystal dolphin music video) - Britishcore (there are many genres of this but just footie, pints, etc. lol) - sterile white sleek round futuristic landscape aesthetic (this one I have in my head but can't find a word for, kinda plays off frutiger) -bowling animation or 3d gif dubstep
DUDE im an artist and this video will be insanely useful to me. like its going in my research citations kind of useful. I think the biggest hindrance to understanding something (see: aesthetics) is not knowing what you don't know about, so having a big aesthetic masterlist in the form of a video essays is wonderful. Even if some are misrepresented/misinterpreted, it still lets me know it exists so I can do my own research. Awesome video dude

ALSO, when it comes to alternative subcultures like punk, goth, emo, etc, they heavily incorporate DIY to almost everything. So if you're looking into getting into these subcultures, a way to start is to stop buying clothes from large corporations and fast fashion (although everyone should do this) and shop second-hand or from small businesses!
Yes!!! Shopping at vintage stores, thrift shops, & from artist markets has been key to me creating my own aesthetic. It’s intentional discovery versus loading up my cart online.
OMG THANK YOU !!! I wanted to learn more about fashion but didn’t bother caring about research and felt like there was too much to acknowledge. I appreciate that this video takes a deep dive into multiple aesthetics in a proper fashion. 🙏❤️
Learning about internet aesthetics has nothing to do with learning about fashion. Plz watch any other video actually about fashion history or education. There’s milllions on CZcams.
This is sooo useful for things like character and world-building! Total respect for making a 2 hour video on aesthetics - this is brilliant! Also, I do think clouds are pretty 😇☁️🌌
one more thing, yes art hoe tends to particularly center around women but in particular the whole movement was started by black women, the aesthetic was kinda co-opted and lost that context but from what i've seen it is important context-- i don't necessarily follow much about it but it is an important part of tha tmovement
A tear shedded from an eye when he explained it correctly I am so tired (I don't even listen to much goth music or am goth) (I wear j-fashion 😭) (idk man I just love Alt fashion and cultures generally.)
THANK YOU. Finally something I can use as a proper catalogue to explore various aesthetics. Your channel is really something, man. Thank you for the work you've put into these, I can't imagine how much time and effort it takes
what a great video on such a broad topic bro, the concept of aesthetics is so crazy, like it’s hard asf to categorize so many different types of “vibes” outside of yourself
I love how he starts with visco and e kid fashion because you could say that was the birth place of a lot of later "aestheticization" of cultures and style. And for the average person, it may be hard to figure out how current punk fashion isn't just "e kid fashion." Because of similarities. Excessive jewelry, layering shirts, band tees, died hair or split color hair. It took a while for these groups to escape the "e kid" label and im not sure they fully have.
I really appreciate how you talk about every aesthetic objectively and without your opinions mixed in, it really helps give people a better idea of what their aesthetic might be! Also, clouds are pretty :3
Pretty sure this is gonna blow up soon, the amount of effort put into this video to go over all of these aesthetics while keeping it understandable is insane. You earned a subscriber alright.
i really appreciate the lack of judgement and bias for all of these. it's nice to learn about something and be able to actually form your own opinion :)
loving this so far but just a lil bit more information on goth!! bauhaus is absolutely HUGE in how goth like Officially came about but i think there's important further context for how goth as a genre developed in the uk-- i may not be an Expert on all things goth but so so SO many goth acts developed through the london venue known as the bat cave, and the bat cave's house band that kinda started it up was called specimen!! i don't know if they still do anything these days, but i think specimen was HUGELY important for the development of goth not only as a subgenre but as an aesthetic, particularly as far as their synth player's style of dress goes (i don't know if youtube will let me say his stage name but still) anyway gonna keep watching but i just wanted to add this little piece of context :)
Maidcore is also used to describe a sort of topic of music originating in Russia. This topic is built of multiple genres, such as nu-metal, metal, shoegaze (I think???), and others. Cover art for this music often depicts characters similar to maids, most of which being referred to as nijiura maids due to their internet history before use as a representation for their musical creators. Most of the artists' names have their character's name, followed by 'the maid', the only one that doesn't really do this is the artist Kichi, though they technically aren't a maidcore artist, however they create very similar music and have collaborated with a few of the 'maids'. People just kinda said 'ur maidcore now' and he was ok with it.
I think clouds are veryyyyyy pretty!!! But I really love this video tbh! It explains each aesthetic very well and explains the difference between aesthetics and their subcultures. This is not my main interest but wanting to learn more about other cultures/fashion styles, this video was really helpful. It was also helpful in trying to find my own aesthetic and trying new ones. This is such an UNDERRATED video and your work really PAYED off!
I was aways curious about this subject, but was not ready to make all the research myself. I give you my heartfelt thank you. this video is a blessing, and of very much utility.
not only did you create a 2 hour video on each aesthetic, but you also did the research on each aesthetic and gave accurate explanations. the amount of time put into this deserves a lot more recognition, underrated video! I personally think aesthetics (outside of ones that serve a purpose for political/societal change and meeting people of similar interests) can kinda kill personal style. Fast-fashion also encourages regular spending on low-quality pieces for "discount" that you realistically will never wear and will end up as waste which is damaging to the environment and to your bank account. Not to mention the unethical brands that use bad quality materials and have underpaid, poorly treated workers make them just so you can pay way more than it is worth for the durability. So buy what you really love, invest in clothes that are high quality, having less clothes but they fit you properly and will last you a long time and can match many things in your closet will be better in the long run compared to owning many cheaply made clothes that you wont wear because they fit you weird and end up losing buttons and ripping within a year.
SIR! OMG Thank YOU so much for giving in time to make THIS!! I've been looking for this exact type of video since 3 years! And I can't thank you enough for compiling literally every type of aesthetic on earth and explaining that. 💖💖💖💖💖
I just wanna thank you because, this very video helped me realize i was halloweencore for i don't even know how many years (I can remember up to 7 years back)
It made me wonder what aesthetic i am and i think im a mix with cottagecore and something else i cant put my finger on, but its so cool to see a lot of others things here that i can explore
I'm an aspiring graphic designer, so learning about different aesthetics I've never come across really teaches me how to be more versatile with my design skills by using inspiration!
The accuracy with which this is depicted, especially the subcultural backgrounds, is really remarkable. I love how well made and well researched this video is, thank you so much!!!
This video is fire. Also made me realize how I’m so diverse cus I’m someone who either more soft girl, light/dark academia, cottage core, and steampunk but I also have the other half of me that take inspo from gyaru and gothic but also mostly contains hot topic, grunge, scene, tomboy, and indie Like I been knew I’m complex with aesthetics but like dayum 😭😭😭😭
HELP I THOUGHT THIS VIDEO WOULD HAVE ABOUT A MILLION VIEWS FOR SOMETHING WITH THIS LEVEL OF EDITING, WRITING, AND THE FACT THAT IT’S TWO HOURS LONG !!! YOU ARE SO UNDERRATED !!! NEW SUB
Arghhhh i literally cannot understate how happy i am that someone made a video like this where everything is presented respectfully and is researched well!!!! This is literally just as cool as your every music genre explained series!!!!!!!! (coming from someone who respects many different kinds of styles and fashions)

@@milo1685 ah thank you, but I'm also interested in learning a lot more about this, Thank you tho😅
This is sooo useful for things like character and world-building! Total respect for making a 2 hour video on aesthetics - this is brilliant!
Also, I do think clouds are pretty 😇☁️🌌
Fr I'm an artist and I'm totally saving this bc it'll be so useful (and I also like clouds😉)
2 HOURS worth of unbiased information. Educational and underrated as hell 😢 especially since IDK my aesthetic
one more thing, yes art hoe tends to particularly center around women but in particular the whole movement was started by black women, the aesthetic was kinda co-opted and lost that context but from what i've seen it is important context-- i don't necessarily follow much about it but it is an important part of tha tmovement
11:03 the "gah dam" sound clip was too perfect here hhahabaaa
Thank you for knowing what goth means it feels like no one knows what it actually is.
Yeah of course, I did not want to get caught up in the “Goth & Emo are the same” pipeline💀
A tear shedded from an eye when he explained it correctly I am so tired (I don't even listen to much goth music or am goth) (I wear j-fashion 😭) (idk man I just love Alt fashion and cultures generally.)
@@spaghettios 💋
My screen turned black, so for the half of the duration of the video, I’ve been staring at a black screen xD
here before this blows up
so true oomfie
🥲
Here while its blowing up
whoaaa tanger haii i love ur music :3
I watched all of this and I love how you didn’t speak negatively of any of the aesthetics. I really liked how you described each of them ❤
That intro was so beautiful that a tear escaped my eye. I don't want that to go unsaid.
THANK YOU.
Finally something I can use as a proper catalogue to explore various aesthetics.
Your channel is really something, man. Thank you for the work you've put into these, I can't imagine how much time and effort it takes
Well thank you I’m glad I could help
what a great video on such a broad topic bro, the concept of aesthetics is so crazy, like it’s hard asf to categorize so many different types of “vibes” outside of yourself
As someone who has no idea which aesthetic fits to them, often leading to an existential crisis….this video is great!
Why do you feel like you should fit an aesthetic?
i really appreciate the lack of judgement and bias for all of these. it's nice to learn about something and be able to actually form your own opinion :)
loving this so far but just a lil bit more information on goth!! bauhaus is absolutely HUGE in how goth like Officially came about but i think there's important further context for how goth as a genre developed in the uk-- i may not be an Expert on all things goth but so so SO many goth acts developed through the london venue known as the bat cave, and the bat cave's house band that kinda started it up was called specimen!! i don't know if they still do anything these days, but i think specimen was HUGELY important for the development of goth not only as a subgenre but as an aesthetic, particularly as far as their synth player's style of dress goes (i don't know if youtube will let me say his stage name but still) anyway gonna keep watching but i just wanted to add this little piece of context :)
oh and and-- that first picture you use for "emo," that's several prominent people in the goth scene actually!
I give you my heartfelt thank you. this video is a blessing, and of very much utility.
honestly there are unlimited aesthetics... i am that one aesthetic where an artsy talent gifted person studies computer science
I don't care

not only did you create a 2 hour video on each aesthetic, but you also did the research on each aesthetic and gave accurate explanations. the amount of time put into this deserves a lot more recognition, underrated video!
I can’t believe how underrated you are! This video is so entertaining and your editing skills are top notch :)
You have a great narrative voice and I appreciate how thorough this is. Thank you for sharing!
I wish people like you were in my life I’d listen to you talk for hours cuz I’m so invested in stuff like this
INTRO GOES HARD
i never knew THIS much aesthetics existed. 😦😦
bru this video makes me not feel weird for dipping my hand in so many aesthetics 😭😭 ty bro
Damn I didn’t expect the aesthetics I know abt/have interest in to be said so well accurately.
Why is this so damn underrated? You deserve way more subscribers for this masterpiece!
I enjoyed this so much and desperately want a part two with some more Japanese kei aesthetics like Visual kei and all the subcultures in it

SIR!
OMG Thank YOU so much for giving in time to make THIS!!
I've been looking for this exact type of video since 3 years! And I can't thank you enough for compiling literally every type of aesthetic on earth and explaining that.
💖💖💖💖💖
I just wanna thank you because, this very video helped me realize i was halloweencore for i don't even know how many years (I can remember up to 7 years back)
as a goth, thank you for actually doing research on it
This is awesome, some of these I was curious about but had no idea what they were, and some I’d never even heard of before!!
i appreciate the accuracy when explaining the history of “alternative” aesthetics like emo, punk, and metal. simplified but pretty spot on :)
nah bro, im subbing, no idea why I didn't find u before these videos are actually amazing
no you're amazing
It made me wonder what aesthetic i am and i think im a mix with cottagecore and something else i cant put my finger on, but its so cool to see a lot of others things here that i can explore
I love how worm ore is on here! You also included all my my favorite aesthetics and you were accurate. Thank you.
I'm an aspiring graphic designer, so learning about different aesthetics I've never come across really teaches me how to be more versatile with my design skills by using inspiration!

the speed and ferocity with which i smacked this video when i saw it. you are my savior with this
I like how you were unbiased with most, if not all, of these aesthetics when you were explaining them. I also like how clouds are pretty ykyk

Some good sht right there. Love me some retro futurism
Commenting for the algorithm! It can’t be understated how spectacular this is.
The accuracy with which this is depicted, especially the subcultural backgrounds, is really remarkable. I love how well made and well researched this video is, thank you so much!!!

omg i remember being obsessed w tumblr grunge aesthetic,, something about the images gives me so much nostalgia and comfort. what a well made video :))
Same! Jr and senior year of high school I was such a tumblr grunge girl 😂😂
Bro this video is going to help so many artists create new things like actually thank you
I think clouds are pretty... ☁️
42:56 trauma-core makes no sense, because in modern terminology the suffix "core" itself is referring to an aesthetic, and trauma is not an aesthetic. the imagery is just edgy and provides no coping mechanisms, the term itself makes it sound like glorification rather than a cope. it's quite literally tantamount to those edgy 2014 tumblr sh posts everyone made fun of
litteraly most important video in youtube for me, tyu for this video man
im impressed at the depth you went into each aesthetic, especially italian mafia
actually watched whole video, thats so underrated wth
