Yes, I loooove transparency in videos about business stuff. Makes everything less scary because we're all just fucking around and finding out, aren't we lmao
yes exactly LOL glad you enjoyed🫶🫶
Haha we are definitely all finding out 😂😂
Small poor disabled artist trying to get off the ground since I can't work a day job, thank you so much for the thorough step-by-step format! That checklist in Notion is a holy GRAIL for me. Listening to this while I draw, and it's helping me be less stressed out about the process. Love your work!!
🫶🫰best of luck with your journey!!
Love seeing artists supporting other artists like this
Thank you so much for sharing this. Working a full-time job and wanting to start a business, has my head swimming. This has helped get my head on right.
happy to help🫶
Artist supporting another artist are a gem. You are transparent and honest, we love your content. Thanks 😊❤
I am in shock. This video is so flippin amazing… the info you give is insanely helpful and informative, you explain everything perfectly, and you even included your notes to refer to! Thank you times a million. I’m hoping to finally sell my art and open up a shop after years and years of contemplation. This helped me immensely. Thank you so much 🙏
ah thank you sm I’m so glad it was helpful!!🫶🫶🫶 best of luck with your shop!!
thanks for this insane 1 hour long video of you explaining your small business from A to Z. Meanwhile i'm listening to this because i'm taking a break from creating products (eating korean spicy ramen atm). you go girl! i had to subscribe because you gave me a vibe as if you're a friend sharing your experiences with me. i love it
🫶🫶🫶 what a compliment I’m so happy I give that vibe🥹 ty for watching!!
Wow, thank you so much for this incredible insight! It is also amazing for all the clients to see that this is in fact a very labor intensive process and is not just "I am selling my drawings on-line" as is perceived by many. It requires many steps and resources to set up and successfully run. I wish you all the best :)
For context (not intending to brag about my credentials) I have two bachelors degrees, and an MFA in Integrated Visual arts. I’ve been researching how to establish an art for commerce space for several years. There are countless videos, tutorials, workshops, ebooks, etc. all of which (that I’ve encountered anyway) have vague directions and superficial advice on how to do this effectively.
This is the first video I’ve seen providing a truly transparent, exquisitely detailed description of how to do this effectively. Truly, thank you so so much for this informative video. Instant follow, instant fan, I greatly appreciate your work, insight and honest explanation regarding artist small business! ❤️🔥💯🥹
omg🥹🥹 this made me grin so hard thank you so much for your kind words!!🙏🫶 I’m so grateful that sharing my silly lil experience can be so helpful to everyone on here❤️ rooting for you & your shop!
Big thank you!
You can't imagine how helpful this video is. It's giving me hope that I can do it, because this autistic brain of mine feels overwhelmed easily when there's no organized step-by-step instructions, and so far I haven't been able to find something like this on this platform.
And I like your seasonal approach :) Never thought about it
Thanks again!
I’m so glad it was helpful! you can definitely do it❤️❤️🙏
This is an incredible resource for someone like me who is finally starting to open my own art store. Thank you so very much for this video, it has helped me more than you will ever know! ❤
I just subscribed and I'm looking to open my own little shop someday but can I just say your an amazing person for doing a video like this! it's an overwhelming thought to open a shop due to all of the unknowns and you have at the very least given people a lifeline to begin researching the things they need. I don't feel as lost on this journey. keep being awesome!
ur so sweet I’m so glad it’s all helpful!! best of luck with your launch🫶🫶🫶🫶
This is just what I was complaining about! Not having one place with all this info. You are amazing. Tysm!!
ahh thank you!! so glad it helps🥹🙏
Im not even a painter but somehow watching talk about the way you planned thia and the way you're breaking it down as a clear strategy with details makes one just wanna keep watching. Your artwork is beautiful, keep it up
23:00 THANK YOU for explaining this simply. I was so lost after my first attempt at printing bc the colors were so off lol
Thank you so much for referencing the third party ink you use for your Pixma pro-100 printer! I got this printer and did SOOO much research about it before hand and was planning to do exactly what you're doing of using precision colors for the ink replacements. Most of the forums and advice on this printer is like seven years old with some mixed reviews so it was refreshing to see a newer video mentioning this printer. I also have a background in graphic design and would like to open a small business in the future as well :D
omg I’m glad it helped!!! yeah the refilling is a bit of a process (esp the first time when you have to set up the new cartridges) but the youtube videos they have on their tutorial page are really informative and the colours look amazing🫰 best of luck with your shop!!
I don't think I'm gonna open my own art shop but I admire your kindness. all that effort to help your fellow artists very inspiring. Spread more love everyone❤❤❤
THANK U FOR TALKING ABOUT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING this was soooo helpful!!!
HAPPY TO HELP🫶❤️🫰
Thanks so much for this! Super detailed made me realize I'm definitely not ready for this. In a good way. Taking one step at a time is always wise.
Wow, thank you for this amazing video. I'm in the process of launching my own art sticker/print shop and I've watched hundreds of videos for resource but this has got to be the most clear, organized and informative one I've seen on CZcams.
you are so welcome!! thank you for your kind words🥹🫶🙏
the SKU tip is super helpful!!!!
This is such an incredible video. It is so hard to know what all to do. Thank you for putting all the work and detail into this that you did! I am looking forward to more videos. I loved all your points about marketing and how skeezy it feels, and how accounting (especially taxes) should not be such a mystery and the fact that it is definitely makes it a little bit of a daunting task. Your personality made this such a great video as well. So many people are loud or gimmicky. I love that you are just a regular person selling some art. This whole thing felt like talking with a friend.
🥹🥹 aw this is so sweet to heart thank you❤️ I'm so glad it was helpful🙏
Omg. I've been so needing this. ❤
Appreciate you taking the time to make this🙏🏼
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION!
so so helpful thanks for making this!
I love you! This is also very helpful!!
This video was soooo helpful 😩
Its taken me over a week to watch this whilst working but very useful info as i try to make my art pay. Lots of very useful stuff here that i will go back over and make notes. Must have taken you hours to do this so thank you very much. Cheers Rich
happy to help🙏 glad you can get some use from it! Best of luck!
Its amazing you took the time to make this video to help other artists! I have a question (or two): how did you write your terms of conditions for your webshop and return policy? Second question: are you considering selling digital products?
mmm for my return policy I basically just said no returns & missing/damaged packages will be taken case-by-case (usually I’m cool to re-send something if the customer is willing to pay for shipping again) and a lot of disclaimers that once the package gets mailed out it’s up to the postal gods lol - I just kinda looked at what other shops were doing to help decide on what the general standard is for that stuff, and it seems like most small businesses don’t do returns. And then as for digital products probably not on my shop, if I do anything digital I’ll save that for my (eventual) patreon :^) Hope this helps!🙏
Omg, thank you! Thanks for your response, this will help for sure😃😊🤗@@leechuts
💖 Thank you so much for making this video, you are greatly appreciated! 💖
very insightful, thank you so much!!
thank you so much for this organized info and motivation!
I wish I could like this video a thousand times. THIS is the info artists need when starting a business! Not a list of design programs and websites to host your shop. So much valuable information here thanks for this!
ahaha aw TY I’m so glad it’s helpful🙏🙏🙏🫶

Thanks for all the information. That’s a lot to learn. I am thinking about setting up a small shop and what you described is scary. 😰
it’s a lot to think about but once you get started it all slowly comes together one step at a time🙏 you can do it!!
U rock!!
This morning while driving I was thinking about how I would setup a SKU system for my new business. My inventory is getting bigger and I need to start doing that asap. I saw your video and started watching it, but not because of the SKU thing, just for tips in general. And you started talking about SKU?? Haha, that's fantastic! Thank you so much for SUCH an in-depth vid! I'll have to watch again just to see if I missed anything!
EZ Sub, EZ like :D
ahahah amazing I’m glad it was helpful!! ty for your support!🙏🙏🫶
I see my one of my prints on your wall hehe
omg hi janice🥹🫶 its one of my most prized possessions im ur biggest fan🧎🏻♀️
Wow I love this! Thank you so much. Do you draw on procreate in RGB mode or CMyK as well?
I draw in RGB and then just convert my art to CMYK in illustrator when I prep my files for print - I post my work online so I prefer creating the art itself in a full rgb colour space and then dealing with colour conversion when it’s time to print by making any edits during my proofing process🙏
Hi. Thank you for your video. It's super helpful to me :) I want to ask which exact model for Munbyn did you get?
happy to help🫶 I have the munbyn P941!
I’d love more information on Shippo and shipping labels, they confuse me so much 😣
if you search up how to use shippo on youtube theres lots of great tutorials/explainers!! but I totally get it - I was mildly confused until I actually integrated it to my site and did a test order, once you can play around in their dashboard it all started to make sense really quickly. Basically you link it to your website, and then when you get an order, shippo receives it on it’s dashboard, and then you can create labels for the orders you need shipping labels for (anything thats not lettermail / stamp shipping) and shippo will prompt you to fill in info about what is inside the package, how much it weighs (for customs), and then which shipping carrier option you want to go with (with prices displayed), then you click which one you want, it gets charged yo your credit card linked to shippo, and shippo gives you a pdf file of that label that you can print! Then you stick it on your package and take it to a post office to scan and send off (label is already paid for, so they just need to scan it into their system). Hope this helps!!
@@leechuts Thank you so much! This really did help! That sounds so convenient, I hope I can use it one day 🤞
I was going to make a video like this as my first CZcams video. Honestly after seeing this idk if I need to now…..
theres definitely value in making one of your own!! there can never be too much information out there for people to discover, and I’m sure you have lots of insights unique to you and your experiences running a shop that lots of people would be so grateful to hear about🫶
@@leechuts Aws thank you!
What about overhead- business license fee, electric, percentage of home studio vs living space, insurance, business license/LLC fees, website cost, internet, payment processing fees, packaging fees as part of cost per piece
A lot of that stuff depends on where you live - for me, since all of my income is from self-employment a lot of those things I have already incorporated into my life/bookkeeping (and where I live we don’t require any sort of business licence/ incorporation as a sole proprietor) so it wasn’t a specific overhead cost for starting my shop. And then as for packaging, when I calculated it came to pennies per piece (because I bought in bulk) so I just recorded the bulk cost in the expenses section. I tried to be as thorough as I could be, but absolutely theres tonnes of stuff (depending on where you live and what your goals are) that will be specific to you and will require research! best of luck!🙏
@@leechuts Wow it a lot different here in the US- I am self employed but have to have a business license. My packaging for medium and large prices costs between $12 and $45 with the foam inserts to keep pieces from getting broken. Lucky you!
