- In this video we show you what Warsaw has to offer from a contemporary perspective! 🏙️ Hold on tight because the further you get... the better! 🔥 Together with twin sisters Karolina and Pamela, we spent the whole day visiting modern neighbourhoods, chic cafes, filming renovated spaces and of course ended up at the Polish Fine dining restaurant with the best food we ate in Warsaw! 🥂
NOTE: there was also AI and a robot making me a 🌭😜. Enjoy!

Does Warsaw give you the NYC vibes?! We definitely had this feeling on that day 😎✨
Having been to New York City I'd say for sure that Warsaw looks way cleaner!
Yes, but not completely (yes I live in Warsaw). We have here plenty of ugly Soviet-styled blocks, modern skyrcrapers and of course a beautiful Old Town (which isn't that old by the way) that is nowhere to be found in New York.
@@smerfdzikus2334 But New York has also modern skyscrapers near old blocks.
@@ch36799 Not that old. Find me a building in New York from 14th century. Or 13th c. In Poland there are plenty, for example in Kraków.
@@smerfdzikus2334 yes! But i talk about Warsaw. In New York you have many old skyscrapers from the 1920- 1930s
Poland being a "poor country" is a common misconception spread by certain areas of the press (ie Daily Mail). The truth is that Poland is considered a high-income economy that is growing at a fast rate and the country has a high standard of living. And in my experience Polish people are some of the hardest workers!
It’s so true! We’ve really met a lot of people who were literally shocked after visiting Poland because they „didn't expect so many skyscrapers” 😂 But jokes aside in this video we just wanted to show the powerful development of this country and the super places and top restaurants that are still very affordable 🙌
Yes, Polish people are very hard-working and really committed to what they’re doing! It might be influenced by the harsh past and uncertainty but in today’s word it’s rare to see that!
Actually Poland was really a poor country not that long ago. So, this is not a lie but rather outdated perception. Poland was simply the fastest growing European country since the fall of the Berlin Wall (and one of the fastest in the whole world). And it is not done yet.
I agreed that it was an old perception, not a misperception. I go to Belgium quite a bit and apparently there are a lot of Polish people migrated to Belgium (from 10-20 years ago) and many worked low level paying jobs (house cleaning, etc., almost like some portion of the Hispanic folks in the States). But my co-workers also said not as much any more as Poland economy is getting really good now.

WOW!!! WARSAW looks so nice, modern and cosy .... 😍 surprised?
When I had first come to Warsaw I must admit I wasn’t expecting it to be so developed! And what surprised me the most was the quality of living as well as relatively low cost of services - in any other European capital you would pay for the restaurant meal 2x or 3x more and the quality might be the same or even worse!
I really can see Poland’s potential and I’m glad that Karolina is Polish because it’s always nice to be back 😄🇵🇱
Exactly 😬 It’s really great to see the uprising economy and how a lot of international capital also comes into the country!

Thank you for showing us beautiful Poland which I believe is an upcoming rising economy. It is also home to my favorite CZcamsr Eva Zu Beck. Thanks Jay and Karolina for your beautiful vlog. Greetings from Singapore.
Our pleasure! It’s really nice to share the insights and actually for me to showcase my country in the best light 😍🇵🇱 [Karolina]
Agreed! Visited Poland in 2008 and always think that they are a underrated country as compared to the other European countries! Btw the twins are beautiful, speak good English and very entertaining. Great job to the 3 of you! Thank you very much and will make an effort to revisit Poland again.
I’m glad to hear that 😍 We’ve had so much fun filming this episode all together! I’m sure that in couple years time it will be even more difficult for you to recognise that it’s Warsaw 👀 The speed of development has been insane! Thanks for watching!
In 2008, Poland was completely different. Everything is changing very quickly here.
2008 you would not recognise Poland anymore, it's a building site.

I come from Poland and I'm Polish, now I'll say something like this in Polish ,, Jak będe dorosły to będe podróżował po całym świecie".
That's exactly how we thought! It sometimes feels weird to realise that this is our lifestyle 😍
I’m over 50 years old. I remember communist times (although I was a kid). In late nineties I finished university and started the career.
I must confess….. it’s completely different country than 20 years ago. Young generation does not notice it but for such an old prick like me it’s amazing that in 3 decades (since east block collapsed) Poland made such a progress.
It is so remarkable how you are able to see such huge progress with your own eyes. Thank you so much for sharing your experience 🙏 For us too, Warsaw is changing year by year.... Also interesting to see what this city will look like in 10-15 years:)
Ja dobijam do 30 i już zaczynam widzieć różnice a prawie nie pamiętam Polski przed EU
I fell in love with a Pole ten years ago and now I am falling on love with the country😂❤ so beautiful, thank you for all the insight.
My Polish husband had to smile big about the 'the government want us to spend time with the family'. It's probably more the catholic influence still dictating some parts of our life, just like here in Germany. You can't even enter a shopping mall, it's all closed, so that is nicer in Poland, just like the rest actually 😂.
You three are lovely ppl, it was fun to listen to and to watch you. They should pay you for doing this tour! We want to go to Warsaw now like probably many others 😂 hugs ❤
That’s an interesting story 😬 Thanks for sharing! Yes, Poland has been developing pretty fast but in some aspects it’s still quite conservative!
Happy to hear we’ve made you inspired to visit Warsaw ❤️
As they think in the world that Poland is a poor country, let them continue to think so. Why straighten it out and explain it. There is not the slightest reason to lead them out of their wrong thinking. 😂😂
It’s nice to talk about the success of one’s country 😉 We’re happy to „promote” Poland on our vlogs because it’s amazing to observe how it’s been developing! And filming-wise it’s quite nice that we can attract more people to visit the country!

What you call “these old buildings” are actually pieces of architecture that represent the history of my city of Warsaw. There are different “old buildings”- some are from pre war times, some are communist concrete cubes, called “wielka plyta”.This kind of apartment buildings were constructed the cheap, with low quality materials, also using asbestos and many unhealthy materials. But the brick buildings from pre WWII times are precious and remind of the beauty of Warsaw those days.
There is no reason to demolish and replace everything what is old. The city has its important history, and those buildings stand for it. They are going to be renovated eventually and maintain in good condition.
There is so much to see in Poland, but my city is the closest to my heart.
Enjoy your sightseeing !
This is so true! Actually them buildings are a true treasure now because you can see the history in front of you 👀 It would have been amazing to see the whole of the city how it was before WW2... We can only assume how beautiful it was.
Thank you so much for watching! 😍
@@JayeshChhayaafter Warsaw uprising Hitler decided destroy whole city. So about 90% Warsaw was destroyed after World War 2. Bombing planes making hundreds flies per day destroying one building after second building and all citizens were or killed or captured and moved from city by force. For example my grandfather was captured and moved Stutthof and my grandmother moved Pruszków.
@@JayeshChhaya also, Warsaw was so beautiful and lively with culture and night life, that it was called “Paris of the North”.
The german nazis monsters bombed and destroyed the whole city as a form of revenge due to Warsaw’s uprising. After the war, Warsaw was rebuilt almost with photographic details thanks among others to the Bernardo Belotto Canaletto’s paintings, showing incredibly the architectural details of the Old Town buildings.

You have a point! I would usually do that as it’s also British culture but what you don’t realise is that I’m doing that on purpose so that I can film the first look/feel to the place for the viewers watching ;)
I have been planning to visit Poland for some time, hopefully this summer.

Come back during SUMMER!!!
Yes a lot of people told us so because I know that Warsaw and in general Poland is way different during summertime! Would need to make a second visit I believe 😏
I'm Polish and I live and work in UK. When I came to England for the first time I was surprised how underdeveloped, backward this country is. I was shocked by depravation, poverty, poor quality of healthcare, education, public transportation, infrastructure, housing and many other problems. Sometimes it looks like a Third World, honestly. And I'm not trying to be rude, I just like truth.
I was always thinking that UK is like Poland but ten times better, because it has stronger currency, bigger economy, etc. Well it's not.
Funny thing is many locals here believe their country is the best in everything because imirgants come here from other countries. Well-it's not.
For most of us (I mean those who came from Europe, not Third World) it's just stronger currency which allows us to buy a property in our country without mortgage.
Stronger currency doesn't mean it's a better, more developed country and most of my life I used to think the opposite.
This is so true! I have exactly the same impression - we can afford more when we go abroad but the standard of living, services, restaurants... You pay a lot more for it too and it doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Quite the opposite. It will be interesting to see what happens next in the UK 🙌 I deeply believe that better changes and plans for the future will come, because everyone talks about inflation, traffic jams and economic stagnation, so it would be nice if something changed 😊
@@JayeshChhaya I wouldnt be optimistic, recession came to UK but ppl still thing of UK as some kind of 'british empire'. People are lazy, tend to omit some jobs and there is not enough of some professions. Brexit did a big number as influx of immigrants has been stopped, not only for basic jobs ( which now are either not taken or done with terrible quality by locals) but also some well educated and high paying jobs. EV ( Tesla, China) vs legacy carmakers - this one will be also nasty for UK. All and all - apart from huge influence of UK as political force and also London being one of finance centers of Europe - things do not look good.
@@JayeshChhaya Well, one of your ministers claims Poland will have higher standard of living than UK before 2030 (probably not true as the UK shows the first signs of recovery from the crisis).
But ye, poor people have it worse in UK than in Poland (due to high 'base costs', like food, renting an apartment etc.) - from what ive heard its especially pretty rough in Scotland.. But you know, if youre qualified you can earn a lot more in UK than in Poland.
But tbh average wage in UK isnt much higher than in Poland anymore (if its really 2041 GBP; apparently its around 2k dollars in Poland so... i think like 1600 pounds?; in 2000 average wage in UK was around 4 times higher btw.).
as Polish living in Scotland i 100% agreee.
I dont agree with everything - english education is still good level.

18:50 This abandoned building is earmarked for demolishion to make space for a new slim skyscraper.
20:00 These old buildings will be renovated. One of them has the last surviving facade of important pre-war Twarda Street running from south-west to north-east direction and the other one is the birthplace of heroic chaplain Ignacy Skorupka killed at battle of Ossow during great battle of Warsaw in 1920 - one of the most important victories in Polish history. That's why these buildings will be never demolished.
27:35 These buildings on Grzybowska Street are not very old; only about 100 years. They will be renovated once ownership issues are resolved. Building touching The Bridge Skyscraper ( under construction ) is already beeing renovated by Ghelamco.

Very good insight! Thanks for sharing - this makes complete sense. It's a strange one because it's seen as Russian but built by Polish - so people should maybe focus on what you are saying here and take more pride in it?
@@JayeshChhaya Actually, the project of the Palace was based not only on US inspiration and technology used in USSR, but the architects were adding local Polish historical elements to the project. There are element shapes of historical renaissance buildings in it. :) On the other hand the modernist architecture was expanding in before WW2 Warsaw, so a bit similar huge building was planned to be built before the war, but in other place in Praga part of Warsaw.
Takie bylo zyczenie Jozefa Sigalina, owczesnego szefa BOS; ustalil on tez ostateczna wysokosc Palacu. Okolo polowy budowniczych Palacu Kultury stanowili obywatele ZSRR, czesto weterani wojenni; pracowalo tez sporo kobiet. Jezeli chodzi o nazwe, to mial sie on od poczatku nazywac Palac Kultury i Nauki.

Part of it is that we don't invest enough in PR. Parly it is because Anglosaxons had always been a bit biased about any Slavic nation so you can see any of Slavic countries shown in grey or blue filter and other such. Maybe it is just that Poland doesn't want to show off not to evoke jelousy.
The measure of a country's wealth should be the number of its own patents and technologies, but unfortunately this is missing. We are a large assembly plant and subcontractor of simple technologies, mainly for Germany. There is a significant lack of own capital here, which is why foreign capital dominates. We do not set directions of development, we follow other larger and richer allies who care about our sales market and labor force, which is why we are one of their wagons. In addition, there is widespread conservatism and the serf mentality of a large part of society.
Palace of culture wasn't given to us. We were forced to build it using our money and resources.
I live in Warsaw and I agree the Modern Art Museum looks terrible and I hate that it blocks the view of the Palace of Culture, which I really like actually, despite its history.
I completely understand you, because I think exactly the same thing 👍 And that huge white block just doesn't fit there at all haha, I wonder if at least it will be a museum worth visiting!
@@JayeshChhaya I don't understand how the city architects could accept this awful design and location... The view on the Palace from the street opposite was amazing, and now it's gone. :( I will boycott the museum and not go there...
@@JayeshChhaya BTW, you said that in London shopping centres are full of people on a Sunday. I was in London five years ago and on Sunday all the shops in Oxford Street were closed, except maybe for some souvenir shops. So how is it now?
Warsaw. huge office buildings. huge streets. super small flats. unless you have 1.5 mio PLN
Hmmm, I guess that’s the characteristics of big metropolises! People want to live close to the main part of the city but it’s unfortunately not feasible 😬
@@JayeshChhaya maybe. But flats in Athens for rent are 2 times cheaper despite twice the population size 4 mil vs 2 mil of warsaw
19:20 it will be demolished soon and if im correct a 80m building will be built there so that is why its so run down
Thanks for sharing! It doesn't really fit in so hopefully they will turn it into something more relevant 😜
you can record whatever you want in the gallery on the street, the security guard had no right ;)
I would say so too 👍 That's why public space is called like that 😜

There's nothing you can't do.
Literally 🙌 It’s such a convenient and nice city to live! And also I’m pretty sure it will become a huge hub for expats in the future!
Proponuje Wrocław, Gdańsk . Warszawa taka sobie.
We’ve filmed in Gdańsk too and had plans for Wrocław! I can definitely agree that these cities are having a completely different vibe compared to Warsaw :)
omg they are twins?!? 😮wow i was sooooo surprised. that is sooo cool ❤. And i am also wondering about your ages 😊. I guess the girls are in early or mid twenties? Maybe? And i really cannot guess your age 😅
Yes they are - but not identical! 🤪 Oh, you made us happy because the girls are 27 now and I’ve already turned 30 this year! 🎂

@@JayeshChhaya my pleasure !
So is the same as Amazon Fresh store in London. Just walk in with your amazon app to scan in and walk out with your grocery. We had one of this grocery store in Singapore... but it didn't do well. Oh my, I love the hot dog robot machine. So cool! Btw, there are actually people monitoring the cameras and to track what the customers bought. I read the article for Amazon fresh. I think I will need to come back again with my Scottish partner next time to do a proper visit to Warsaw and maybe Krakow since I heard it is very beautiful city.
Gdańsk and Wrocław too
I believe so it works like this! Poland is so underrated - the more places we visit, the more I like the culture, cuisine and people! At first I wasn’t feeling super comfortable but now knowing some basic Polish and having Karolina around helps massively 🙏
@@JayeshChhaya it is always useful if you have a local friend and in your case, your gf as your guide. Ive tried the traditional Polish food and they are nice though not a big fan. I still prefer my Asian food especially South East Asian with spices.
There’s nothing exciting about this cashless stores, they should be banned cos they don’t offer any jobs and no cash payments!
There are no people tracking what the customers bought. They review. thecamera footage only in case of an incident.
Poland have surpassed Portugal in the GDP per capita in the last few years AMF is now at the Greece level.
Great to hear! Keep going Poland!!! 😄🙌🇵🇱
In Purchase Power Parity (PPP) per capita is in the UK $58k in Poland $50k and the inflation difference is probably higher, add the fact that Poland does't have such income differences and there is little difference. If you would exclude City of London out of the UK, Poland is actually better.....
And it's really visible! Coming from England, of course, it is easier to spend money, but the level of services price to value is incomparable 🙌 Poland is really already very well developed, and if it continues like this, it will become one of the most developed in Europe soon!
To one of the twins, all trams are electric! How long have u been living in Warsaw/in this world ? 😂🙈
Too long to even say it out loud 🤪
Galerianki :)
Oh, I remember that movie 😅 Funny metaphor haha [Karolina]
If you wish to see poverty, consider visiting various areas within affluent Western countries. There are some beauties.
Yeah, we know this and it’s actually pretty sad and controversial in one. From one side you’re happy to help poor or homeless people but on the other hand if they’re just getting enough help from the state without even trying to find a job, then it becomes a bigger issue.

I live in Warsaw, and I 100% agree that the museum of modern art is ugly and should be somewhere else or just not exist at all
😂😂😂 Let’s see what people say when it opens! I’m so curious if it’s going to be even good inside lol
True! Poland is one of the last European countries where I can see that there's not so many immigrants. However, the changes are fast and the world cannot be stopped, so sooner or later the influx of foreigners and international influences will be more visible. Hopefully it will only bring positive results :)
This old building, close to very modern offices, is a former Jewish house from the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II!!! The memory of history is now, but should be part of the reconstruction
So interesting! Probably the government officials have been thinking for a long time what to do with it 👍
47:52 -kopytka = little hooves
So good! Them are my favourite with some sauce 😍👌
To clarify - those run down buildings are not replaced/renovated due specific legal situation in Warsaw. After ww2 communist government siezed the land from a lot of people due to variuous (usually non-legal, owners died and buildings were a rubble) reasons. After the fall of communism, those decisions were deemed illegal, so e.g. descendants of the original owners could reclaim their properties. If there are none identified/there are some legal battles etc./legal proceedings - those plots of land are pretty much unsellable.
It's super interesting! Thanks for sharing! Sometimes the past decisions or bonds are mysterious and we'll never know to whom some properties really belong, especially after the war... Nevertheless, it's good to have a good plan for them in the future because dilapidated, not utilised space in the heart of the city doesn't serve anyone.
OMG! I almost assumed you have 2 wives. I couldn't even tell which one is Karolina as well as her sister had they use same outfit. Would you like to try it out, mate?

@@JayeshChhaya I mean guessing which one is yr wife when they use the same outfit. It'll be hilarious!😂
Show Galeria Mlociny Shopping Mall. MASSIVE SPACE. but 25 sqm flats for ya, so you can reduce your bad carbon ! and shop shop shop, only from foreign corporations.
There’s so many shopping malls in Warsaw! I’ve heard that Galeria Mlociny is also a transportation hub (end of the 1st metro line and P&R area) so at least people can go shopping on the way back home :)
As a New Zealnder traveling to Warsaw is it safe ? Don't wanna go there and end up getting murdered 😂
Poland is a very safe country - it’s safer than the UK! You can walk in Warsaw in the early hours and feel safe - Karolina was sometimes taking late buses and I didn’t worry 👍

It’s good to question not-that-smart rules sometimes 🙃
Everything is fine in Warsaw.
It is only difficult to find a job, especially if you are a foreigner (even if you know Polish)
That’s a very useful insight for all the foreigners! I had no idea it’s that difficult to find a job but it makes sense because I do struggle sometimes in public places knowing only super basic phrases 🤭
The fact that you compared Warsaw to NYC shithole is offensive
I wouldn’t say NYC is a shithole 😂
NO, pls. Warsaw is SO much better than NYC!
😬😬😬
Look at the facade of the Palace of Culture next to it, it looks very bad.
There is a lot of graffiti, it needs to be repaired.
That graffiti around the city (especially historical areas) is super awful 😩 I have no idea why people do that lol
Dunno where you got that Poland is a poor country thing. Perhaps some sort of 90s encyclopaedia?
A lot of people from the West categorise Poland as the East, which is associated with something 'backward'.
On the other hand, when people come to Poland, they are amazed at how highly developed the country is and, of course, at the level of service - the value for money of the food served in restaurants is amazing!
Another example of racism in Poland 😅 This is just sad and unnecessary.
Try to work on Sundays for years and have kids then sing the same tune.
I would assume most of the people working in these retail/hospitality jobs are younger people/students who don't have kids - yes there will be people working in these jobs that are older and have kids but do older people generally go for these types of jobs? or maybe I'm ignorant lol
@@JayeshChhaya Live is not utopia
It's obvious that the ladies who showed you around my capital have never worked in customer service in stores if they don't understand why it is so important that at least one day a week is legally designated for rest for employees who work in this industry. Is it so hard to understand that working with a client is very stressful and that one day off a week, which is 100% certain and your employer cannot change your plans because of his whim... is very necessary? Spend Sunday outside the city, it will be good for your health. It is also a good thing for society because they can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the daily rat race in a crowded city and spend time with their families among greenery, which is absolutely missing in Warsaw.
I don't like our capital, it's too concrete and soulless. I prefer cities to be greener and not completely eliminate nature from citizens' space.
Anyway, welcome to my country and visit us more often ;). See our other cities.
I get your point. It’s actually not a big deal to not shop on Sundays - however, girls were more talking of the fact that some young people would actually prefer that 😄
We filmed a bunch of videos in other Polish cities so hope you’ll enjoy them too! We’re also planning to visit more rural and local areas in the future!
Warsaw is one of the greenest cities in Europe. Warsaw is far from being soulless and has one of the best refurbishment plans that brings the city centre back to pedestrians. It'sThe only Capital with a legally protected park on one of the wild river sides with protected birds species living there. It seems that you never worked in customer service - even with working on Sundays you were always able to have at least half of them free. Stop romanticising customer service work, it's entry level and something that is supposed to be temporary.
Poland IS poor country. Growing doesnt mean rich or even medium. Most fast growing economies grow fast because they are still somewhat poor.
I get your point but also the number of investments and GDP level in comparison to other Western countries is quite impressive too 😉
