      @@TheRezro Damn, this story is more complicated. For the first time, Poland clashed with the Germans near Cedynia. We had a bigger problem with Russia only during the partitions. That's a difference of several hundred years. Marx Engels are not Russians. Lenin also came to Russia from Germany and the Polish-Bolshevik war was about preventing Russia from passing through Poland to the German communists. We paid for this war in 1920
      "Katyń" and Hitler himself killed almost all German communists in concentration camps.

Merkel joined the Free German Youth (FDJ), the official communist youth movement sponsored by the ruling Marxist-Leninist Socialist Unity Party of German... @@TheRezro All the wars fought before the partitions resulted in shortages in the royal treasury.
      At that time, the Polish economy was based on grain, and other countries at that time were already introducing industrial innovations that Poland missed out on. There was also a problem in the army. Russia suddenly created a large army in which ordinary citizens served. The nobility clung to their traditions for too long and quarrels were actually the main cause of Poland's decline.

There will not be another march of communism to the west and fascism to the east. Why would we push into Ukraine to pump billions into that poverty and fight the corruption arrangements? We had that at home in the 90's. To do a repeat, and go back 20 years in reforms and stop the country's development in favour of sinking money to level the playing field of occupied lands? (Germany, after reunification, halted its development for 20 years before levelling out the differences in civilisation between the eastern and western states). Russia may want the lands of the Ukraine because these are better civilised than Russia itself, but us? FOR what? We have 1.5 million Ukrainians at home, they are doing well here and I hope they feel just as well (if you can feel well somewhere, being expelled from your own country by a war) why do we need another 20 million.

    We're not afraid of Germany attacking. Actually, for much of Poland's existance we didn't have any conflicts with Germany (or HRE as there was no Germany to begin with). We are, however, aware that Russia is round the corner. Your policy of doing business with Russia instead of war was never going to work, and it has nothing to do with NATO expansion. Russia is not a country that relies on normal trade relations for the good of society. Russians have a tsarist empire mentality. Russia had democracy maybe for 5 years in its entire history and Russians view that period with shame. No one in Russia cares for the people and their comfort as much as they care for their shape on the map.

    I think this data is not correct. Poland is at the beginning of army modernization, which will last many years. Currently, terribly old structures are being replaced with ultra-modern ones and this is where the biggest difference will be. For example, we are buying F-35 and as many as 96 Apache helicopters. There's not that much in any army. We build our own armored vehicles, drones and missiles. There were about 1,300 tanks, of which 1/3 of the oldest ones were transferred to Ukraine. As for the weapon. "Grot" is a modern design that is slowly being modified and developed (currently in the 3rd generation - I think I'll buy it :)). Weapons in private hands in Poland, not just 1%. There are 1 million gun permits and half of my friends have them at home. Poland, as a former Eastern Bloc country, has a very large army in relation to its population and will have an even larger one, including civil defense.

    The caliber of the ammunition does matter. Firstly, the standard NATO round is a 7.62 mm round. This is so all NATO rifles can use the same ammo. However, it isn't required. For example, the last US rifle to use the 7.62 was the M14 rifle, which was replaced by the M16 which uses a 5.56. A 9mm Parabellum pistol doesn't do the same damage, nor have the same stopping power, of the .45 caliber round of the US M1911 pistol.
    The other thing to remember is that Poland doesn't want to rely on Allies who say they'll help but may not. As what occurred in 1939. One reason the Poles welcomed the US Army V Corps to Poland (Camp Kosciuszko) was because if they're invaded, the invaders will automatically be hitting US troops which means war with the US as well.

    Hi, Chris. No, we in Poland are not afraid of being attacked by the Germans, and it's not because we have bigger or smaller army, but because Germany has a normal, democratic and responsible society and politicians. What we actually fear, is if we can count on you as our ally and if you won't be reluctant to help us if Russia decides to attack.

    Well Germany is in very comfortable position of being very safe from any direct military threats - 100% bordering countries are allies, it's in NATO and the only potential threat - Russia - would have to first invade and defeat Poland to even reach Germany by land. So at least since 1991 the government was more than happy to save on military and pump the industry instead, and II ww trauma helped to justify that. We on the other hand have direct border with potential enemy and even though we are in NATO we know very well that we have to stand our ground for a while until any serious NATO forces even arrive (if they arrive at all - no one can be sure until it happens at least once somewhere). I think the state of our armies reflect that pretty well.

      When poles got there they saw among locals suffering, starvation, and the feeling of being told that your existence was inferior to those oppressing you. They Knew that exact situation. Haitians wanted independence just like poles so they turn back on french and joined Haitians helping with gaining independence:)

Yet, only 9 years later Germany destroyed not just Poland, but the next year all the Western Europe, combined. And another year later almost defeated the Soviets (who built the largest army in the world), at the last moment saved by the US+UK resources. And it is very important what type of ammo You use for many reasons.
    belive me You would prefer to get hit with a .22 Long rifle round than a .45 hallow point... or a 308 lapua
    For example a 9x19 is very different than a 9x18 in many ways. Ways that might seem miniscule way but in extream conditions (like war) every thing can make a huge difference.
    for example the 9x18 is a lot slower and tend to have to little force to destroy and fragment itself on impact then the 9x19. We use to laugh that You can see the 9x18 fly. From what i know The 18 is more prone to ricoschete making it a bit more dengerous for the shooter himself. Im not sure but i find The 9x19 to be worse to get hit by, not becous of the speed or the force but becous of a much higher chance of fragmentation and deformation of the bullet. to be honest You could write a whole book about it... and many people have.

If Hitler never attacked us, I believe our countries could be bigger (economically) than USA. I mean Germany is 2nd biggest economy anyway. Now add Poland growing uninterrupted since 1918 as their main partner…

  • @artursmya2052
    @artursmya2052 Před 3 měsíci +2

    Every military force is created for needs of particular country. Germany don't need strong land forces, because there is close to none risk of them being invaded by land. Since there is a military alliance, it makes a lot of sense for Poland as potential frontline, to have tanks, AA systems and sheer numbers. Germany would complete the front well with sending aircraft, so the way it is, looks logical to me. Poland must maintain strong army at all times, that is obvious, because it's matter of life and death. If i was German, i wouldn't keep half million army, just in case another country gets attacked. Germany have other ways of helping. If they only contribute to keeping air supremacy over attacked Poland, we can handle rest. What i am mostly afraid of is, how strong the alliance would be in a moment of need, because famous article 5 can be interpreted in many ways. That is also wy Poland upgrades army so quickly: we might see a situation, where Poland is fighting alone for weeks, while allies debate about how to help without annoying the little KGB oldtimer.
