Poles are famous for complaining about everything, including their country. But what we have in common is the fact of appreciating delicious traditional Polish food. I highly recommend going where the locals eat. Most of the places in the center are created for tourists, where it may be tasty, but it's still not like smaller places that have a soul. There is also a list of regional products that have special certificates, and this also needs to be experienced. Polish cuisine varies greatly depending on the part of the country. You got yourself in some tourist traps xD If I can recommend something try Polana Snaków and Elixir by Dom Wódki. Tatar is very traditional for us and we like to test the kitchen with it. From things you didn't try that is our staple would be: "nóżki", "śledzie", "ogórki kiszone". But many commentators are right. The best of the best is in regional capitals and not in Warsaw. There you can find great international food. Great ribs at Aruba. Oh! And "pączki" at Plac Wilsona!

Beside my responds with recomendations for Poland and dumplings quite uniqe is that we make them sweet aswell. Somewhere i saw chinesse ppl refering to it as weird cuz they have a lot of dumplings in their culture aswell but never in sweet variant.

It always amazes me in such culinary guides that people only go to purely tourist places. I'm taught that if you want to taste a given country, go where the natives eat. "Tourist" restaurants are focused on pure customer exploitation, minimum costs, maximum price and nice presentation. You don't have to try because you don't fight for a customer who is supposed to come back to you, the customer is for one time (additionally, I usually don't know how it should taste). I'm not saying it's bad food, but the maximum you'll get there is average. The only thing that surprises me more is tourists in mc donalds.

"Gościniec" in Polish has a triple meaning - A broad road of shoddy quality, a gift brought from travels given to a host when visiting and a traditional tavern or travel hotel on the side of the road.
We do not have a "guesthouse", although the direct translation might've suggest it XD
