    Beautiful sunset flight. And those motors look excellent. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing. Really enjoying the swordfish. These might be a nice upgrade from stock.

    Nice flight! I noticed when I go lower kv and larger prop. I gain efficiency but lose a lot of top end speed. I don’t have a swordfish but I have the Reptile dragon 2. Started with 2306.5 1900kv on 6042 and it was fast but power hungry. Dropped to 2216 1400 kvs and 7042 and 6042 which seemed to be the sweet spot. I’m currently running 2216 1100kv with 8x5 props and it’s efficient but slow lol 😂

      Yeah lower KV with bigger props is usually more efficient on a slower cruiser, but you almost always give up top end speed. They're great where static thrust is important too. I never experimented much with the RD2, I just left the PNP motors on it and went to a smaller prop. It was pretty overpowered out of the box... lol

    Great evening flight with nice views of sunset.
    When flying crosswind (8:45) seeing ~115-120mAh/mi which appears to be 5-15mAh/mile lower that previous flight. Throttle% appears to be 3-5% lower. Just a quick approximation, to say it appears there is some improvement in efficiency. Looking forward when to seeing real number when you get to fly in calm air. I do like the metallic look of the new motors combined with the black propellers.

      Yeah that's about what I figure too, there seems to be a slight increase in efficiency, but nothing major. I'll probably play around with some different props, just because these are so stiff and catch the ground when landing. I want to find a more flexible prop that will still perform well. I might see how the 7042s do on these motors. I'll see what I have on hand... lol

    Awesome flying and review, Keith! 😃
    I've heard only good things about those motors!
    Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

      Thanks! I'm looking forward to some more good weather so I can get more time on these, and other projects I've been waiting to get to... It's pretty windy most days this time of year though.

    I swear these look like a nice pair of rims that meant to go on a car when I first saw them. Nice!

    Great video Bonafide! I have a swordfish with velox 2207 1950kV, I'm running 7042 gemfan bi-blade props with 4S 21700mAh and I'm having bad efficiency. My plane is 1050gram AUW and it needs 8-9A just to keep it flying straight and level. 4-5A it will sink. What do yyou think I should check or change to make it more efficient? Throttle scale maybe? or switching motor prop combo? Or nose up trim in inav?

      i too am having issues with flight time when cruising at about 25% throttle

    Great video! Been enjoying your videos for a while, im torn between the ranger and the swordfish... what do you recommend for someone entering the hobby with some practice?

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  Před 3 měsíci +2

      They're both great planes, and will serve you well. For someone getting into FPV, I'd probably recommend the Swordfish RTH version, since it comes with decent electronics including a nice flight controller, with it all installed and ready to finish up. They are both easy to launch being twin tractors, and fly well. The T1 Ranger can be challenging to fit with all the gear because it's relatively small with not a ton of room inside. The Swordfish on the other hand has a bit of room to spare with easy access to it.

    • @11coso
      @11coso Před 3 měsíci +2

      These are great considerations! Thanks for the help! I've been on the fence for both and this will put me over to the swordfish RTH.@@bonafidepirate

    My Swordfish didn't come with the red top AtomRC motors like most, instead I got a pair of RCinPower 1700kv units. Interesting video as I am planning on running through a variety of prop sizes in the coming weeks. What do you think about the APCs compared to a polycarbonate prop from say Gemfan or other?

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  Před 3 měsíci

      I find the APCs perform well in the air, but I'm not sure I low how stiff they are when the snag the ground, as seen during the landing at the end of this video... lol The more flexible props just lay flat and get out of the way, these tend to stop the airplane in the process... lol I may eventually switch to some different props just for that reason, to avoid breaking a motor mount or something. BTW, I think I remember someone saying that the AtomRC branded motors are produced by Rcinpower. Maybe they were referring to the motors you got though, not sure! lol

    Love to get one of these planes. However I already have 15 new kits of random large planes… 😂 besides the wife would murder me

      lol I know your pain! I don't have room for the planes I have now, but would love to have more... lol I guess it's a good problem to have.
