great footage and video - while we face snow, storm, rain and everything european winter has to offer. This footage looks like late summer flights and everything is green.
Keep on flying and I will watch your videos from the farm again in 2024 !
We're starting to get some colder days too, and I'm sure we'll have more than enough of them in the next 2 or 3 months... lol Our winters are relatively mild though, it very rarely snows, like almost never. We get a nice hard freeze here and there and an occasional "ice storm", but for the most part all the green just turns brown for a bit until the winter plants come in, they they rotate again in the spring.
Great flight, looks like was a blast. Good for you to experiment and try something different, just because. Loving the colors, great golden yellows and greens. Has a nice August/Sept evening feel. Don't worry about a video being boring, always appreciate you posting so we can watch and share a ride. Nice editing of music changes to the flight clips.
Awesome flying, Keith!!! 😃
But yeah, flying needs to be fun! Keep experimenting new things!
Happy new year! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
For sure! I do often enjoy a new technical challenge or learning something new, but then I also often find it's starting to feel more like a long list of problems to overcome and less rewarding... lol It's nice to just take a step back to something fun and different and remember what it's all about!
Nice tuns man!! also very nice video.... Happy New Year Man....
oh ..since a long time ago..nice to see some news from you, so best regards from Germany...😊
Hello Keith from the Rocket City in Huntsville, Alabama. Your videos are exceptional, editing and voiceovers are very well done. Its obvious youve been at this for quite some time. I'm new to the recording and post-processing facet of this hobby and was hoping you could share what hardware/software you use or can recommend. Also your Arduplane/Mission Planner tips sre really helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Do you use any portable monitors (field monitor)?
now check some other nice spots around you and perhaps even try some quadcopter ? vtol ? 7" longrange will be my next rig in spring :) doesnt seem like you get much cold there...
btw: got the same goggles and they are quite nice in 720p with walksnail module. but they also have over 80ms ;its weird sometimes ...i only really feel it somewhat in my 2" whoop when speeding around in my flat. On wings and 5"crusing around(no bando bashing) outside its not really noticable. anyways looking forward to the avatar x or the fatsharky ones 2nd hand, also in spring xD
Yeah the measured latency with HDMI input is about the only real issue I've seen about these. I had some concerns but figured even if it was bad, it would be fine for the usual kind of cruising I do. Having flown the Penguin around the trees in the yard and all though, it's safe to say that I didn't notice any latency. I know some people have more of an issue with it than others, maybe I just adjust, but whatever the case they work fine for me... lol
Great video! That looks exactly like what I’m hoping to do with my new Penguin.
This is the Penguin's natural habitat... lol
Change is good, I love the feeling of fpv how did it feel to put the goggles back on?
Well, that was different m8..lol ..So, you have the VRX mounted on the Cobra V2s with antennas..?....Not using the elevated mast setup?...🤔😳🇬🇧
Yeah for this flight, I just had the VRX mounted on the front of the goggles with the same antennas I normally use. (built in patches plus two TFP on top)
Do you use differential thrust? If so, I have a question. Should one motor stop if you are doing a turn? I know it should slow down
I don't use differential thrust on here, but I know some do. How much the motors speed up or slow down depends on the amount of mix. Pawel did a video on it recently, check this - czcams.com/video/UeroXOmn_8Y/video.html
It's weird... When in the goggles... it's proximity time!
lol Yeah it seems so! It's more immersive I guess... lol
it is posible to connect analog video to your portable 15.6 monitor? if yes what I need
The one I have only accepts HDMI input. You may be able to use an adapter/converter or something to make it work, but then you run the risk of problems with latency, blue screen, etc. For a good analog monitor I'd definitely suggest something purpose made. There have been several different ones over the years from various brands, you can probably find something at most of the FPV retailers. Chances are it will be smaller though, usually in the 7-10 inch range.
I always thought you were watching your flights through goggles... Guess I was wrong.
Nope, I started flying FPV with monitors before goggles were even a thing. People started making their own at one point, I still have my old modded "Trimersion" headset... lol Even when the likes of Fatshark came on the scene making nice goggles, I still preferred a monitor. Still do, but having a nice set of goggles that works is fun too, just for a change of pace.
Liked. What patch antennas do you use with the walksnail module on the cobra x?
I use the two stock patches in the VRX, and two 9.4db TFP on the top connectors amzn.to/3ZcgfwV
Can’t wait to fly mine. I cooked my atomrc fc trying to run analog on it. Long story so I have a speedybee f405 on the way and a caddx vista ready to go. I swapped the stock props for some t mount 5050 props
OSD is looking amazing! How'd you go about setting it up? I'm using the Avatar X Goggles and the OSD elements are restricted to a smaller area than the FOV, not extending to the corner of the screen like yours. Love the font aswell.
What flight controller firmware are you using? Inav and Ardupilot both support the full 16:9 frame for OSD layout. I don't do quads, but pretty sure Betaflight does too. The font is "Batman" from Sneaky_FPV
@@bonafidepirate Nice! I'm only flying quads, using Betaflight. What would you recommend for long range FPV wings? I've considered getting into it.
Hello. What camera are you using? Can you share your settings?
It's the Nano V3 kit linked below the video. I'm using it in 16:9 aspect radio, sharpness lowered a bit from default, but that's it. 1080/60fps
Some people say that the latency when you put walksnail on the skyzone cobra very high and terrible to fly. How was your experiencie?
I've seen the latency tests, but never noticed it myself. I figured even if it was bad it would work for the type of flying I usually do, just cruising around, but even flying through the trees and all it was fine for me. Maybe I just adjust better to the latency, but I couldn't even tell honestly.
@@bonafidepirate my flights are just like yours and If you say so, i'm gonna buy a walksnail for my cobra, thank you.
Very Cool !!😀
I have the cheapo Cobras with the lower resolution screen for Analogue flying. I tried the HDMI feed input but the resolution was terrible....They work great on my analogue quads though. Trouble is, Im addicted to my HD quads now and Avatar goggles...😳😀
I haven't tried the lower resolution ones. Cobra S is it? These are not bad, I was a bit reluctant to try them being 1280x720 and not 1920x1080, but they are fine to me. A few people I know that use them said they would be... lol I'm actually using the VRX at 1080p and it displays the image just fine, but scaled down for the 720p screen of course. It allows me to record in 1080p still which is nice.
@@bonafidepirate The Cobras I have are the original grey ones with 800 x 480 screen...I believe they were called the Cobra SDs....Fine for analogue, useless for HD though... Image is worse than analogue feed ..lol....🤔😳😳...The Avatar goggles are great, the OLED screens make a big difference colour wise...I can see why you went for those Cobra V2 Goggles though....Curious why you didn't leave the VRX up on the mast though...🤔🤔😳
Pretty close to a touch and ? @ 6:18? And yeah, I wouldn't have thunk you'd have a box on your face. I have had the Cobra with analog and like them with glasses worn. I expect than now you've tried this on the back step, next step might be to explore abroad. One of my favorite flights are missions to fly a spot or video a POI. The penguin is quite and can fly in and out anywhere a quad can, but stealthier. This spring I hope to circle outside of the juvenile hawk gatherings which appear at a distance to form a "cyclone" made up of a hundred or more birds. I think I'll use a Volantex 1600mm motor glider for stealth as well as speed to escape if they become distracted of too interested in my loose formation.
Yeah the Penguin is probably the ideal plane for that sort of stuff. Slow and maneuverable, relatively quiet, and easy to transport. While I haven't used a ton if different goggles over the years, the ones I have tried has mostly had one issue or another with me being able to see in them. It's nice being able to wear the Cobra X right over my glasses, and see perfect in them too. As far as goggles with glasses go, it's the best option I've seen yet. It also helps that it's probably the smallest "box" style goggle out there, at least that I know of, and has a long list of other good points too. (nice analog receiver, nice DVR, etc.) I'm glad I decided to give them a try, they were recommended by a couple of others and when I saw them for sale in the classifieds I decided it was time! lol
@@bonafidepiratethis is exactly why I fly the cobra x. I can wear them with my glasses and with the 9 turn helical antenna I’ve been 5 miles out. A cheap and effective long range setup lol that’s on analog tho I haven’t went for the VRX yet as I have the dji v2’s which also work with my glasses on 🎉
I've heard people say that the Cobra X LCD display can be a bit dim and desaturated. Wondered how you personally felt about em.
I agree they're not as vibrant/saturated as some, but definitely acceptable. I found they are plenty bright enough if I set the backlight on high. I forget what it's called in the menu but there's a low/medium/high for the backlight, besides the usual brightness and contrast etc. I'm quite happy with them as far as goggles that work with my glasses. Not many options for that... lol
@@bonafidepirate Thanks for your honest opinion. It's often hard to get that as most of it comes from reviewers who are scared to say anything negative and offend the manufacturers. Been considering that model as a guest unit as it's less expensive, but still pretty feature packed.
