Considering that the CEO just said in an interview that they don't care if large streamers leave because it'll drive viewers to smaller streams, this is completely on brand.
No one is on Twitch because they are Twitch fans. They go because they are [INSERT FAVORED CONTENT CREATOR] fans.
and that is where they are wrong... people (most of them) will follow the creator they love to watch... they don't give a F about Twitch... it is just a means to watch what they want... there are other places to watch without all this BS...
How braindead. Do they think if XQC leave the XQC viewers will just go watch some coomer with 1 viewer? This guy is a CEO of a company? Bro give me a company I could do better than this
@@LiLBitsDK Hard to say tbh, I think it's more of a situation where if the #1 streamer in a category leaves then maybe a few will follow, but a lot will just go to the next best thing (Most people at the #1 already have a decent CZcams following). The problem with this change is that it's not going to just be #1, but possibly #1-30 as well. Whole organizations and groups leaving will do an insane amount of damage.
@LilBitsDK "there are other places to watch" where? Give me a few examples that match twitch in terms of functionality and reach.
Twitch never fails to disappoint me

Hi
Great Project guys
This isn't Twitch stopping paying streamers. This is Twitch actively trying to take money from Streamers for their own.
Not even for their own, this just stops generating that money for anybody
@@juampisito nah bc streamers have to plan more ad breaks to make up for the sponsors, then giving twitch more revenue from more of their placed ads being shown

Twitch must scientifically formulate the worst possible decisions in a lab, they're so consistently good finding new ways to make their service worse
It's called corporate greed and a desire for exponential profit.
Yo its the guy that lost his sanity trying to get a weirdly colored Regieleki!
Same thing with blizzard
Its turning into Nintendo kinda
@@EingefrorenesEisentwitch bleeds money every year and they have been incrementally trying to make changes to make the bleeding less. This isn't corporate greed. People don't realize how much money it costs to support the infrastructure for on demand live streaming platform especially when 99% of their creators are costing them more than what they make for twitch
If CZcams don't use this time to grab a large amount of streamers, they're missing such a big opportunity
Why would they? Twitch is constantly shooting itself in the foot. Twitch streamers are always mad at the platform. Sooner or later, tons of streamers will move over without youtube having to drop millions on acquiring all of them.
@@zog6940 Or Kick
Buy the dip. Easy way to snag huge orgs. I'd be sending someone in person over to Zach and OTK to personally make a deal with them....Why would you not wanna take advantage of this?!
nah let the degenerates stay there
People don't know that twitch is not profitable and think that google would think this is an opportunity. Twitch is grasping at straws trying to make a larger profit just to break even on server costs, they will not make it in the long run anyway.
at this point Twitch is basically handing their entire audience and users to CZcams on a silver platter
In retrospect Ludwig leaving Twitch for CZcams was the best thing he's ever done
CZcams should give the guys at Twitch that made this a raise

twitch has slowly gone from having a monopoly on the streaming world to now basically promoting and advocating for people to go to their rivals…
Twitch rivals tournament? Lol
rumble taking over
to be honest, twitch having a monopoly isn’t a good thing. Either way, more competition in the streaming space is a good thing no matter how that competition may arise from.
You know, they also allow you to upload recorded videos. And likewise, CZcams allows you to stream videos.
Twitch has basically became a OnlyFans clone anyway.

Ludwig's change to CZcams has aged like fine wine
And it's only been a couple of years, imagine what will happen in 5+ years.
He's killing it, honestly. Just on his main channel alone, he's got high numbers on long form content so that means he's good at retaining his audience in the long run, he still got high ccvs and viewership on streams, and his YT Shorts always gets pushed by the algorithm so he's funneling in more viewers by the day.
CZcams are still assholes, but yeah, Twitch seems like a sinking ship.

Issue is: most big creators would not risk their channel being banned (or outright deleted) for this.
how have streamers not unionized yet? they literally have complete power over the product, and the time is right for change in the entertainment industry
No... unions are terrible. Case closed
@@kirbyscreativity "unions are terrible" what does that mean?
@@kirbyscreativity case reopened, explain yourself
Unions as a group aren’t anything. There are good (and bad) unions now and in the past. Let’s stop pretending the world isn’t nuanced
@@kirbyscreativity That's exactly what corporations want you think. Negotiating as a group gives you so much more power to make demands than if you do it by yourself. @@darkithnamgedrf9495 Because Twitch has started to run into saturation issues in a format that they only dominated because no one else really cares about. They've done their growing so now they have to make their money and start to operate like a large company. I'm not surprised at all by these changes tbh (besides the logo one which is really weird). Reminder that we are just coming off the large controversy of streamers advertising gambling to their audience of kids that led to a ton of drama and even a new 'competitor' appearing.
I actually agree with Ludwig's 'charitable explanation' here tbh, considering Twitch would be annihilated if they actually attempted to enforce this fully. Seems more like a weapon they want to have in their arsenal more than anything to purge problematic advertising done by creators. Which is a very understandable desire for Twitch considering how dumb many streamers are with the advertisements they are willing to engage with.;
@@darkithnamgedrf9495 they actually care.
The best part is JSchlatt saying that the next move will be Twitch banning direct donations and forcing the viewers to use bits to donate instead. Which is prophetic to say the least.

I mean he did have accurate predictions involving the royal family so anything is possible lol
@@k1n1ami18 Your comment is even more pointless
It does sound like they just want a big cut from any source of income that creators get.
Which is very short sighted. What matters is traffic to your platform, not the few bucks that creators get in comparison.
It’s really sad, because if twitch goes down, so do those small streamers. I love watching small streamers. I usually watch fall guys ones because they are very wholesome
Small streamers get nothing

I like to think Brian would get a kick out of that
I figured he sounded familiar!
The problem is that Twitch can (and likely will) use this rule as an excuse to ban streamers that they personally don't like. Their track record is abhorrent, and I have no doubt that we'll continue to see more examples of unequal moderation in the coming years.
Absolutely 100% correct. Not even 99%, 100.
They've mass banned people for less than this. Some times for no reason at all.

What a great site.
After a week the same people are shitting on CZcams again
There's a post on Twitter stating that the "Simulcasting" rules were added to the ToS, implying it affects ALL users, including non Affiliate/Partners. Those that revoked their Aff/Partner to stream to Twitch and CZcams at the same time are no longer allowed.
CZcams just needs to focus on making their streaming feature a lot better at this point to make twitch less of an option. Twitch currently wont die out because of its layout, because of its discoverability versus youtube's. Once CZcams does that, twitch will slowly die out
Seriously, CZcams would be so much ahead of the streaming curve if they just make CZcams Live a much friendlier UI experience. But still pretty sure they're more worried about competing with TikTok with Shorts than competing with Twitch. I mean Drake streamed to Kick. So if there's ever a golden opportunity for CZcams to take that next step. It's now.
I feel like that would be an issue too….CZcams can be just as greedy as Twitch and if they become one of the only streaming platforms, they can just make the same awful decisions but without Twitch there will be nowhere to go.

Come up with an original joke why dont you, this is getting old
For 1 i am happy it was so cut and dry just i also wish they went into depth with defining everything too. Much like the EULA they make us all agree to when making a twitch account. It tells you or used to tell you the rules in a legal text format. A format that has stood up in US court for being both informing the user of what they are agreeing to and short enough that users will actually read it. The Twitch stream guidelines i wish were put out in that format sometimes the 18 pages of legal text would be more informative then what seems to be gone through PR so many times there is hardly anything left to tell you what it is. So ppl will guess and many will guess wrong. Yeah i know the age of websites being pages of text is gone but for changes like this they should have done it that way. Not mostly images to show what they mean not mostly images to say it. Images are iffy and leave a lot up to interpretation words don't and i am sure Twitch Legal would be happy to write it in a business to business way that will stand up in EU court. As EU court is stricter than US court so writing it so it holds up in EU court will mean it will in US court. Now with images Twitch is hoping the companies who do streams for charity and what not do not get a strike for this as being brought to court over a unclear image will be up to the lawyers to decide what does this image mean legally. Thus why all text is always better when talking with and talking about sponsorships and advertising.
The burned in display ads and audio ads are stupid, but the rest are fine and will definitely improve my time on twitch as a viewer. It is A PROBLEM that streamers and brands are starting to treat twitch like television, it is not and it should not be. 3% is a perfect size, maybe a little bit bigger, but you're overreacting about it. There's a small percentage of people that actually stream and will affect them and twitter is going crazy as usual.
The reason Twitch has this new policy is because they’re trying to strong-arm streamers into accepting their new 50/50 contracts. If a Twitch streamer cannot outsource ad revenue, they become totally dependent on Twitch for their income. Then, all of the contract bargaining power goes to Twitch.
Please explain this less advanced

The Twitch CEO interview with Filian was super out of left field and I love that Ludwig knows about it
Softball PR for twitch with no upside for her, no idea why she agreed to it.
@@Toastybees Filian is a very optimistic person, she wanted to believe that they were trying to do good. They took advantage of her good nature which is kind of scummy.
This feels like one of those situations where later on they rollback the logo and banner restrictions but keep the burned-in ad ban to make it seem like they are listening to feedback, all the while that was their plan the whole time.

Just say that you are, similar to other plattforms (youtube wink wink), introducing xyz.
Imagine if every business and developer was as transparent in their work as Coffee Stain Studios is
If you have drift on your Nintendo Switch Joycon, you can cut a piece of cardstock paper to fit in between the thumbpad and the battery connector. The drift is caused by a weak connection in the sticks because the plastic is too weak and the stick loses connection. A piece of a business card inside will help support the stick' connection. All you need is a tri-wing screwdriver and a business card to fix your drift. It might void warranty or something but it's worth not having drift on your sticks. I did it to all of my joycons and not a single one has drift now.
There's plenty of tutorials on CZcams if you want to try it out.
10/10 worked for me and a few friends.
Dan Clancy (Twitch CEO) did an interview on Filian's stream literally 5 DAYS AGO where he said that Twitch would support their creators that don't have contracts by making it easier for them to take brand deals and sponsorships. And then these changes are announced less than a week later that totally destroy the chance of any sponsorship or brand deal for anyone.
he isnt wrong its easier to get sponsors served from a mittelmen ( in this case twitch that take a big cut out of it) then locking yourself for sponsors
Oh, this is what he meant. Whenever executives speak they are bullshitting. When he says “we’re making it easier for creators to take brand deals” he means “allowing creators to negotiate ad sales independently cuts us out and we want our share”. Their entire job is figuring out how to further fuck people over and word it positively.
Huh? Look at the options of getting sponsors with In twitch itself? There’s a freaking tab for it with many many options as well as bounty boards are much more in supply as well. Brand deals idk bout so cant as anything. Yes it’s all hidden but it’s there. But streamer has to be consistent tho
@@boines No company that pays worthwhile money is going to want to sponsor a streamer through Twitch if their advertising space is limited to 3% of the screen.

The gift that keeps on taking

It's likely a step towards a larger plan. For example only allow adds that they approve and or get a cut from. Cause all things considered this change by itself doesn't seem bad for the viewer. Great only a small portion can get filled up with adds that positive, it's good they take control of it, but you'll never know their next step.
I think that the compatable youtube ads is flexible because of the "comparable" wording. You can argue that since it is the creator making the ad, it is not comparable as can fall under creative work and thus can be argued it is not only an ad but a creative expression of the artist themselves.
Now, if you start rolling a TV commercial ad, like youtube does, then they might hut you with a violation. The ads were the youtuber acts it out for a sponsor are allowed because it is specific to said youtuber.
Banners I have no idea. CZcams dors sonrthing like that already.
I think there might a different reason. Bigger streamers get so much money from sponsorships that they stop caring about internal monetization features like subs/bits and they stop incentivizing their viewers to use them. Maybe this is aimed to reign those streamers in a bit by making them more dependent on Twitch. I'm calling it: directly referencing external donation methods will be outlawed too in the near future.
Jup so twitch can f the streamers over even more
So twitch getting jealous of their bigger streamers and want the cake for themselves, typical
Sure and that makes sense. It's a business. But they're doing it backwards.
Make the sponsors have deals with you directly to allow them to sponsor someone, don't punish the streamer, use them to your advantage.

Honestly, when comparing this to CZcams, the actual rules aren't great, but the clarity that they have put this forwards with is really respectable. I don't agree with the things that are banned, but compared to the vague handwaving and random prosecution of CZcams guidelines, i think i prefer this kind of communication.
I mean, do you really think Twitch enforces their rules in any more of a reasonable way than CZcams? Hell no. Both platforms punish people willy nilly and ignore creators who blatantly break the rules. Nor do they ever bother to explain why they cherry pick specific people to punish above blatantly worse offenders.
that's because people are forgetting that CZcams doesn't sell sponsorship deals. Ludwig's ads aren't mid rolls in the CZcams sense but branded integrations, CZcams doesn't sell those so it's allowed.
try to put an adsense competitor in a CZcams video and that will be banned.
@@TheSkcube Right, I read the rule as banning automated ad integration. So, just throwing a random drug commercial in the middle of your video, like network television does, would be against the rules, but doing an ad read is fine, since that's an integrated part of the content.
@@justsomeredspy more precisely any adsense competitor would not be allowed on the CZcams platform, as that would be seen as circumventing CZcams's adsense platform, in the mediums that CZcams uses.

@@ironboundfate but a video based platform that hides all their changes... well somewhere... makes no sense.
they dont need to deal with feedback, but a monthly address livestreamed to the platform going over changes just seems like an obvious choice. right now the average person has no idea whats going on with the platform, and that information is not intuitive to find, which makes the whole thing feel shady
@@emi9643 I fully agree that a company with a good pipeline of information and an actively shown interest in the use of their own product would be great. But as you know by now twitch corporate is just shady, its been non-stop shit bagging for well over 5 years now with their decisions around the platform.
Thank you for breaking this down. A tiny bit that I want to add is that there are no more/less charitable takes on this.
When a rule is officially announced in the ToS it can be enforced at any point in time and is already in effect, meaning if you choose to violate it you are living on thin ice. It's a pretty stressful state. That's the same for both Twitch and CZcams.
They gonna enforce it on small creators. Because they know that they cant afford a platform change that easily. First a warning, making sure they comply and if they dont they'll get banned for a week or something. In the end Twitch wants everyone to stay AND stream in accordance to these guidelines.
when CZcams says that you can't bake midroll ads where CZcams provides ads I think they mean when you only use that as your ads and doing it to the extent that CZcams does
The problem is that if twitch dies CZcams suddenly won’t have a big competitor and might not try to improve their streaming platform as much.
Ludwigs mustache talk brought him back from being frozen
Never seen a company this committed to failure
I can definitely understand how this affects businesses and streamers, and I agree. However I also welcome limiting intrusive advertising when there's already annoying ads on the platform itself, and then my favourite personality is throwing yet another ad at me so that they can make money outside of twitch. I kind of agree both sides but that could be unique to me.
I have to wonder how that affects professional esports streams. Nearly every stream I watch runs burned-in video ads for the sponsors of the event...
if this goes through, youtube, kick and rumble will try to swoop in for the biggest creators. which would be a massive shift and i can’t wait to see what happens.
Ludwig reading a tweet from Brian Kibler is the most unexpected MTG x Mogul Moves universes crossover. What a time to be alive.

Because of his persona, it's easy to forget Ludwig is one of the most professional streamer out there, always keeping a keen eye on all aspects of the streaming / content creation industry.
Tbf it is kinda his job to know
The youtube guidelines prohibit Advertisor created ads, but the content creator can create the ad and run it if they are doing the voice-over/imagery themselves. You can't just (for example) run a commercial from Adidas directly as if it was a TV ad though.
Ludwig projected images into my brain at the start of this video
This is why I don't stream on Twitch anymore. Nothing good happens on Twitch.
how tf are you verified
@@RyBrown paid for it with moms credit card
The move is looking better and better with every twitch announcement.
I kinda agree on the burned in ads bit. Its meant to be a stremaing site and it interrupts the streams. The 3% stuff is total crap though.
Edit: overlays or "display ads" I think should be fine to be clear
I see pixar dad stashe is turning into Budget hulk hogan. You'll be at white fu manchu in no time at this rate!
Jokes aside I do like the stashe, keep it up!
Twitch isn't pregnant, but never fails to deliver. Deliver dogsh*t

Fun fact for those of you who don't know and maybe even lud doesn't know. Brian Kibler, the author of one of the tweets showcased is a legend in the Magic: The Gathering scene and is in the hall of fame for competitive play
Suppose a market hall allows merchants to use stalls for free, but in return they need to pay a share of their earnings. If a merchant then proceeds to use a stall, but secretly sells goods to visitors, then obviously they don't uphold their end of the deal.
This whole thing has been blown out of proportion by content creators for the sake of renegotiating the terms of service that have been there from the start. Streamers put on this little act to cause reputational damage to Twitch and get a better bargaining position out of it. As people, we empathise more with individuals than companies. Therefore even the most reasonable guidelines can be successfully framed as a money grab by a greedy company, instead of a company with employees that also need to be paid.
Though I'm just a small streamer I'm glad you made a video on this. I could not really be arsed to read the whole page and I'm laying off twitter for a while.
Twitch is like the mother that abuses you and says she does it because she loves you
Yeah, this shit hurts.
Unfortunately, they also restricted multi-streaming, from previously being affiliates and partners to the whole of Twitch now, limiting all streamers to their platform no matter their status.
The irony of the banner ad in the League game being from PRIME GAMING their parent company
