for dextero headlines this isn't even that bad. he did stream his own music and did get banned as a result. honestly they should've added permanently to the title since it still technically true and would farm more views. news is built around creating the most attention catching headline that treads around the facts.

I think a problem with both Twitch and CZcams is the lack of synergy between replying to a ban appeal in private versus when it gets popular on twitter and then they end up doing a 180 and saying, "No, that's not a reason to ban someone, here's your channel back." They need to be consistent with this stuff, and for over half a decade they have proved not to be.
Oh well
In the end, it's a business led by obnoxious people who don't care about others beneath them. There's no sense of dedication towards their services.
Because they are lazy and care about the money, small channels getting wrongfully banned or claimed is fine for them behind doors and they don’t care because the wider public audience have probably never heard of them, they send the appeals straight to the claimer because they can’t be bothered to pay people for manual reviewing, the only time it matters is when a top creator with millions of followers brings awareness to it because they bring in money and watch time for the platform, acting then makes them look like the “good guys” in the situation as they are “righting” their wrongs, they will never ever be consistent as it’s a poorly ran company making bad decisions in the name of money
Well for starters those two systems are entirely different. Second DMCA and content moderation are two different categories
Content moderation policies change over time and they’re deliberately broad to cover any possible issues that may arise down the line. In the case of CZcams you then have human reviewers that users begged to have more of, which are left to apply those broad policies using their best judgment. As a result you have one reviewer who may say yes this is a violation and another that says no it’s not
This is why policies are applied inconsistently and why when an issue gets enough attention someone higher up has to decide whether or not a reviewer made the right call. 8 out of 10 times the person higher up is just going to reverse the decision anyway to avoid further backlash, even if the decision was actually in line with content guidelines, which in turn leads to more inconsistency
Also if the volume of content wasn’t so high then this wouldn’t be as big a problem, and none of this addresses the issue in the video which is Twitch took down a channel based on a non existent DMCA issue. Which that decision is entirely on them
@@TheJjcczz I disagree that content moderation and DMCA are inherently different. Removing content or channels for DMCA violation is moderating the platform to avoid legal action against the platform from music companies.
I do agree the human application of the vague guidelines is where this inconsistency comes from, and I still think despite that there are intelligent people that can manage to train and create a work environment that creates more consistency or find a better solution.
The issue in the video wasn't due to DMCA. The account was initially banned temporarily until Cardboard proved it was his music. See timestamp 2:01 - 2:31 for a better explanation, but the problem was the indefinite ban after proving this was not a DMCA issue.
If CZcams just makes their chat way more fun like Twitch's and gets a dedicated streaming section more like Twitch's, they'd absolutely dominate overnight.
There technically is a dedicated streaming section on youtube, if you go onto the main page on youtube you get a few selections ontop like; Everything, Gaming, Music, Mixes, Live etc. Although it's more of a recommendation.
I mean for the same reason why it's so slow to get any new products from Twitch is the same reason why CZcams is also so slow to change. They are both bloated companies with so much bureaucracy.

CZcams live section is terrible the whole api is trash and its impossible to filter or find anything. Kick is the only one doing it right Idk why people want twitch to be like how it use to then shit on kick when kick is quite literally what twitch was 10 years ago. Free from ads and bullshit and actually runs faster.
CZcams is already dominating, they already have Ludwig and Valkyrae on EXCLUSIVE.
They have Pokimane and Ninja half on CZcams half on Twitch and if Twitch goes ahead with the ad terms and services they added last week Ninja has already said it would be a "no brainer" to just quit Twitch because he is getting actual sponsorship income from everywhere else.
XQC has also been posting on his CZcams channel more and more.
Twitch seem oddly determined to destroy any form of success they've achieved over the span of a decade.
Meanwhile, Skanky McGee at CZcams HQ is going, *Pfft!* "Amateurs."
That's kinda what happens when a massive corporation buys a successful business out. They change it to what they want.

I had music written for my film on CZcams, the film came out before the music was on streaming, once it was my film got banned from CZcams for a whole month, even the artist himself couldn’t get distrokid and CZcams to undo the auto-claim

There were a hundred better ways to go about this for twitch. They chose none. If I‘d ever get wrongfully banned like that, I’d be announcing my new CZcams stream the next day.
Actually, it’s there was 1 better way for Cardboard Cowboy to go about this. Follow the guidelines laid out for a radiostyle channel. He neglected to do so. Twitch followed through with their policy. They did nothing wrong, CbC was in the wrong.

Herman Li from Dragonforce often gets his VODs muted because he plays Dragonforce music on stream. IIRC a few years ago he got a DMCA warning on twitch as well, for the same reason.

This has happened to me on youtube numerous times. Some asshole copyright claims a video with 12 views and I have to complain to a real person who immediately corrects it. The system is backwards to protect the outlet to the detriment of the creators.

I once had a youtube channel where I would upload instrumentals on and lease them out if people requested. One of my videos ended up getting ~120k views but someone just made a song with it (without contacting me), uploaded it through their music distributor, and it automatically took my video down and copystriked me. If i wanted to restore the video, I would have to go through a tedious appeal process. I was already going through some tough times in life so I just decided to quit uploading music all together.
It really stings because I had uploaded this video 1.5 years prior to the person stealing it. I didn't even really want to monetize my music, I leased them on occasion since it was nice to have some extra money; but it was mostly just passion. I don't really know if this person understood how their music distributor works or not, but they reaped the ad rev from it regardless. (I didn't even put ads on my videos either, they automatically inserted them after claiming it.)
