I think the reality is that there wasn't anything brave at all about him letting her know right off the bat. He prioritized the insecurity over pursuing any sort of connection with her, which to me seems extremely self-absorbed. He prioritized making himself comfortable and risked making her feel uncomfortable.

Yeah I feel like anyone doing extremely odd things like this need physiological help. Definitely sounds like something a serial killer would do. There has to be some sort of word used for people that engage in this sort of behavior. To do something just because you can, or to intrude on someone's personal space just to mess with them almost seems sadistic... if these people get caught by the wrong person it could end very bad for either person... either way, whoever that person is, I'd stay away from them while also keeping an eye on them...

My dog is a fully trained service dog and yet if she was left home alone and someone entered she didn't know, she would 100% accept any food bribes given to her without a second though 🤣 At most she might bark at them if they woke her up from sleeping, but she'd quickly give up if given a bribe.
My girl is like that (not a service dog just really friendly, and a bit of a scaredy cat), but the quickest way to her heart is food. She ran away one time but it took nothing to get her back because she came back as soon as her fat ass saw the treats we had. My boy on the other hand...... on walks if you even LOOK at him wrong, he's taking your arm off. That's a bit of an exaggeration obviously lol, but kinda not. He's a picky eater too so you can't just give him any ol' thing and he don't like new people, so a stranger walks into my house they're getting mauled. That guy wouldn't even make it two steps in the house.
