    I have no problem carrying a Timney or Glock performance trigger, but I also do more maintenance than most (with lube and replacing springs and sticking with all stock spring weights).
    I’ve seen where the GPT requires lubrication every 1K rounds, and assume the Timney is the same, so that’s what I do. If it ever fails, I’ll drop it for sure…but so far, so good.

    I got the Timney trigger never had any issues with it but the reset on it sucks even with the red spring. So I ordered the Jonny Glocks shoe upgrade and it came with a heavier reset spring and the shoe has a adjustment screw in it to adjust the take up. Love it now!

    as an EDC, I agree with the safety aspect. I will only carry a stock trigger on my g43. I do, on the other hand, use a Timney on my competition G34. A Timney Alpha along with a Johnny Glock Vex trigger shoe is the ultimate combination. No more reset overtravel and adjustable pre-travel. Right now, my breaks at around 2.75 Lbs

    Trigger pull weight, travel, etc. in striker fired platforms is interesting as it pertains to carry. Some manufacturers like Walther have pushed the envelope and come out with some really amazing triggers in carry guns. Are they too light, and is travel too short? It's a personal question and depends on comfort and expertise. I certainly appreciate people with significant experience explaining their opinions on the subject. It's an important issue if you carry. Thanks for another great video.

    Thanks for the detailed information about this trigger. My concern about the Timney trigger was exactly how it changed operating mechanism to essentially a single action gun without a manual safety. I suppose I might consider it for my USPSA gun as I've had issues with a popular aftermarket Glock trigger, but your discussion of the issues people have encountered gives me pause.

    Johnny Glocks makes a combat/duty upgrade for the timmney trigger. It brights the pull weight to 4.5 or 5.5lbs and has a distinct and hard wall but still a super crisp clear break

    a grub screw mounted through the rear end of the trigger guard and adjusted correctly makes a great trigger stop. i have a few i’ve done and if tightly fitted will not move. also on my stock gen 4 19 it’s the only glock trigger you can dry fire with a loose grip one handed and the sights don’t move. i made a ten second you tubevideo i think i called it glock five cent trigger job.

    Hi Hilton, thanks for the video. I got the Timney glock trigger when it first came out and it seems like there have been some additions to the kit (only one trigger return spring and no retaining plate on the set screw) but mine was for gen 4. Have you tried using the lighter trigger return spring and the + connector? I run that setup and it yields a solid pull weight and nice wall.

  • @joelm5509

    Funny how the trigger pull weight is so different between users, probably caused by the fact no Glock is the same, tolerances are out there. My Stock GEN 5 G17 gives 2lbs 13 oz which is too light for even competition (IPSC Production division, 3lbs min). Although in Open and Standard division it wouldn't matter. With plus connector it's closer to 4lb 13 oz which is too much (My stock PDP gives 3lb 13 oz). Next I guess I have to try the "standard" connector without dot, a.k.a 5.5lb connector. It's a great system overall when you get it to work properly, but I don't think it's a really drop in trigger in all cases. Still worth the money especially for the competition shooters.

  • @samr4584
    @samr4584 Před rokem +1

    I used a timney for 1000 rounds between 2 Glocks. Both Glocks would have light primer strikers on many different kinds of ammo, even with different connectors, and a 6.5lb striker spring. Will not recommend the trigger to anyone due to the massive amount of wasted time and ammo on this kit. Even sent it back to timney and got a new one...same thing.

  • @BeauBrewer5.56
    @BeauBrewer5.56 Před rokem +2

    I am also very careful with mods to Glock triggers. Pretty much all I do is find a shoe I like the feel of, cleaned up trigger bar, 10-8 connector. I just accept that the Glock trigger is gonna be what it is. If I want a specific trigger feel/pull that requires more than those simple mods then I need to get a different gun. Just my opinion. Love the shirt and hoodie btw they feel great.

    I highly recommend a Sig P320 X Carry Legion. The Sig is everything I wish my G17 could be. The trigger is amazing, but not 1911 amazing. The grip feels awesome. The balance and presentation is almost perfect. Safe money on mods for a Glock and purchase a Sig.

  • @bunnyoperator
    @bunnyoperator Před rokem

    Agreed on the Alpha, Hilton. It's definitely a hit and miss on whether or not it functions in each specific pistol. I'd say tolerance stacking but the reports of failures are quite high. It is funny when folks commenting on my video on the Alpha claim that I had installed it wrong when I followed Timney's instructions to a "T" and used all OEM parts. Some of the folks even later replied that they started experiencing issues after the fact and edited their comments.
    I definitely understand that the Alpha may require fiddling but that goes against Timney's claim that it will work with OEM components without the need for a gunsmith. It is also suspect that they've recently released a striker and connector combo for 80 bucks more that only works with the Alpha. Really, it seems to be a design flaw or perhaps shouldn't be advertised as it currently is. I am running their Gen 3 and Gen 5 Enhanced Feel Shoes, and so far so good on those but that is to be expected considering the retention of the OEM system.
    Great video from a fellow LAS family member. 🥰
