    Such a simple solution explained so well. I did add a step, using an awl to mark a hole location and then drilling *very* carefully to make a 1/16” hole. Just seemed cleaner to me but you do risk drilling into the top of that plastic pin.

    Thanks, Johnny! It's the little tricks like this that differentiate the professional from the hobbyist, or the ignorant. I helped a friend put an Apex trigger shoe on his G17, and Apex's recommendation was to just drive the pin through - destroying the OEM trigger shoe. Seems to me a lazy way to tell people to do it, and not terribly professional. Thanks for keeping it classy.

    the way i do it so as not to break it by hitting too hard with a hammer is by using a very small drill bit. just measure where the pin is located on the blind side and rotate the drill bit with your fingers. the plastic is very soft. when you see the pin inside the hole you strike it slowly with a tiny punch or nail. out it goes!

    • @floorpizza8074
      @floorpizza8074 Před 3 lety +1

      If you use a tiny (like 1/16") punch, you won't loosen up the pin hole enough to cause the pin to back out. It's all in that initial disassembly... take your time to do it right, with a very small punch, and then only move the pin the minimum amount necessary to remove the trigger. If you do those two things, you can re-use the shoe successfully.

    Silly question, but what is the point of doing this? I'm genuinely asking not talking smack.

    • @johnnyglocks
      @johnnyglocks  Před 6 lety +3

      Michael Zschoche a lot of aftermarket companies just sell shoes like Blocked Precision, deus ex machina,
      agency, Glock Craft, Suarez, and Ranger proof to name a few. You have to install the shoe on something and in order to do that you have to get the OEM shoe off of the bar and this is a technique to do it in an efficient manner so you can possibly reuse it. So WHEN your aluminum trigger shoe shits the bed if you were smart enough to save your GLOCK OEM shoe you will be able to use it. As far as you clarifying that you are not talking smack shows you are a gentleman. And no question is silly Mike. Keep watching the videos I hope you like them.

    • @michaelzschoche2746
      @michaelzschoche2746 Před 6 lety +1

      JOHNNY GLOCKS the persona I have always wanted to do this because the trigger safety rides on my finger, and it gets tender after a few hundred rounds because of how thin it is. I used to just buy after market triggers with wider safeties, but that gets expensive for all of my firearms. I like the pyramid trigger from the glockstore.com, but the complete trigger is 250 dollars. Even just the trigger bar and show alone is 140. I don’t conceal since I’m in LA county in California, so it’s just for the range and home defense only. I would be ok with removing the safety or buying a show without a safety like you mentioned. Thank you for your video, and fast response.keep the, coming. I’m liking and subscribing now. I just found your channel.

    • @johnnyglocks
      @johnnyglocks  Před 6 lety +2

      Michael Zschoche one thing Michael. I don't believe I said anything about installing a trigger without a trigger safety but I would never suggest doing away with the trigger safety. Even if you have amazing trigger control things happen like drops and snags. Thanks for subscribing and I'll keep the videos coming
