    Just saw a "Grail" on Gunbroker for more than an XC. Anyway, I'm an old striker fired pistol guy (evolved from Glock to Sig) and started trying Staccatos that friends owned. The last straw was shooting a demo P that the FHP armorer had for T&E and immediately shooting an XC for the first time. I bought an XC a couple weeks ago, love it. And I am cleaning after shooting it and bringing clean/lube kit to the range but no issues yet. BUT, now I want another, choosing between the C2 and P but after watching this, I think I'll go with the C2 because I can do pretty much everything I need to between the C2 and XC. Not saying I won't get a P later though. Thanks Hilton!

      I run up to a thousand rounds through mine between cleanings and haven't had an issue. Stay up on your springs and mags and they're bulletproof.
      They will let you know if you have any out of spec rounds, though.
      A drop of lube every 500 rounds or so is a good idea. They're perfectly happy being wet and dirty.

    Solid info! C2 is the go to piece! One piece of inaccurate information is that there is no duty holster for the XL. Since the Blackhawk T series came out with a Staccato model around mid2020 it has been a usable option. I run the XL in 40SW because my department hasn't moved back to 9 yet and it is an absolute beast.

  • @christopherjohnson2171
    @christopherjohnson2171 Před 3 lety +2

    If you do get a C2 MBX makes 18rd mags for them now. I wonder how a C2 frame will hold up to long term use though, I heard they do not anodize them under the coating which is why I didn't keep my C2.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 3 lety +2

      The MBX 18 rd mag is similar to running the factory 17rd/126mm mag in the C2, which normally takes the 16rd/120mm mag as a flush fit. To gain an 18th round, you must sacrifice spring length and follower stability, and as such I do not recommend that option.
      The 2020 C2 models did not have anodizing underneath the PVD finish, and I haven't checked in to see what is happening with the 2021 models. The factory did durability testing on the C2 and I really have no issues with the frame as it is.

    • @christopherjohnson2171
      @christopherjohnson2171 Před 3 lety +1

      @@108Performance To be clear, I've never used that 18rd magazine that is part of their new "Defender series" of more carry-oriented 2011 mags since I no longer have a C2. But I do have some of the 20rd 126mm "Defender" MBX mags that I am now using in lieu of both the factory 126mm 17 and 140mm 20rd mags. Unlike the more competition oriented mags they have a much stronger spring (and are actually pretty hard to load to 20rds) but still have the same really high presentation of the round. They are a bit longer than the factory 17s though despite also being a 126mm mag but so far they've worked great. I don't have that much of a round count across them all yet though because of the ongoing ammo situation. They've been 100% in my P and XC so far and passed the feed test in one of your other videos with ammo as short as 1.060 with flying colors.

    I have a non billboard STI Costa Carry Comp - the forerunner to the XC . I love it however the only thing that bugs me is that if you hold the compensator at the front with the slide locked up (not pushing the compensator back into the slide) you can still feel a bit of rotational movement of the barrel left to right/ right to left. It’s only a slight amount of rotational play until the island compensator or/ sight lug contacts the slide.
    Has anyone else experienced this and Is there any way to remove this bit of rotational play in the barrel.? Any help much appreciated.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 3 lety

      If it's not affecting function/accuracy, then leave it alone. You're not getting what amounts to a high level gunsmith job from the comments section on CZcams. If you have any actual issues with it, contact the factory for a repair ticket.

    • @czechtactical8388
      @czechtactical8388 Před 3 lety

      Thank you for the reply. There is no performance/ function issue. The question was more to establish if this was normal with other Omni/ XC / DVC-P / Costa users . A ticket to the factory is not so simple from Europe, hence the request for their user feedback before bothering the factory.

  • @airtightbox
    @airtightbox Před 3 lety

    I find the DPO irons on the P and XC to be a bit loose in the sight picture. I really would like to see someone come out with a big dot night sight with the super visible Night Fision glow dome yellow inserts, they are just slightly wider at .140" than the .135" the stock Dawson's. I've seen posts from officers that can't get duty carry approval without night sights.

    The C is much thinner for true ccw
    C2 with mag is chunky,
    Millimeters matter regarding printing 🇺🇸🦾

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 2 lety +1

      A legitimate consideration, but the C is a pretty large gun for 9+1 rounds. It's roughly in the same footprint as a Glock 19, albeit thinner. If I feel that I need a gun smaller/flatter than a Glock 19 or C2, then I go with a Glock 43x or 48.

    • @JohnSmith-mm5rf
      @JohnSmith-mm5rf Před 2 lety +1

      Sure
      But then you give up the trigger,
      Gunsmithing and feel and shootability
      I don’t reserve that for capacity
      I believe those qualities are always welcome in a carry weapon,🇺🇸🦾
      Thanks

  • @BadBaltGuy
    @BadBaltGuy Před 3 lety

    @10-8 have you ever heard of an issue where rounds slide forward and get out of whack in the mag? All 3 of my mags do this. Current model P duo.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 3 lety

      They slide forward but it doesn’t create a function issue. If you are extracting a partial magazine, you’ll notice, but otherwise you won’t

    • @Mines220
      @Mines220 Před 2 lety

      @BadBaltGuy The slide forward aids in ejection. The round will still “pop” up whether seated all the way back and forward. I’ve noticed when they are a little forward, the really add some additional force for ejection on the empty case being extracted. Just remember that a round may be slightly forward vs seated when you train tac reloads etc.

    I have no problem with the lower capacity C, but it drives me crazy that its a single stack, yet still has a 2011 frame, I have a P, but I guess " muscle memory" takes over; I feel comfortable with my Shadow Hawk Commander or WC ultralight commander? Your my favorite gun channel now; great work?

  • @jimsig2194
    @jimsig2194 Před 3 lety

    I bought a staccato p for competition purposes.. I did not want the optics to stay in production division, plus I wanted the adjustable rear sight for that extra tuning to zero it in for my particular loads. Ending up replacing the front FO sight with a thinner blade. My key takeaway now is that the P model is built more like a duty gun than a competition gun. I wish Staccato would still carry their older STI models that were geared more for competition than duty carry.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 3 lety +2

      I hope you mean Limited Minor as SAO guns aren’t permitted for Production. The old STI catalog of competition guns may have been neat, but keeping after all those and limited sales left the company on the verge of bankruptcy.

    Hilton, I see on Stacatto’s order page that I can get the “P” with an aluminum frame. If I’m going to edc, and use for IDPA, why would I get the C2 over the aluminum frame P? Does the half inch +/- difference in barrel length matter that much?

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  Před 2 lety +2

      Depending whether carry or a competition is your priority, the suggestions in my video still stand. The aluminum frame P is more of a niche item for exposed duty carry IMO. The shorter the barrel and slide, the more snappy, so an aluminum frame P will track better than the C2 but not as nice as a steel frame P.
