ugly is putting it lightly but that is the charm with most ships of star wars. They grow on you
That's actually a really good point. Kinda hit the nail on the head there lol
True. Just look at the Nebulon B.
Why? They are just kitbash ships, no thougth in to the desing.
@@LICVIGO yeah but it's really fascinating how legends writers were able to create so many stories for these ships after the fact. Legends canon had a really natural growth to it when it was first being formed. I miss those days...
@@LICVIGO Yeah but it is Star Wars. It's in the identity. Little money, lot's of good writing.
But then it all changed when the Disney attacked.
EC is so insanely talented at 3d modelling, he needs to be hired by Lucasfilm.
Maybe Dave Filoni
I could see him working for ILMX.
lucasfilm should also use those ships
apanda02 i litetally just said this twice, when i shared this video on two discords... xD
i think he'll be better of freelancing work like this instead of being employed by lucasfilm
Epic! Totally going to use this in my Tabletop game. Great background lore. Really makes it a unique addition
Wow I’m surprised nobody responded to this before me look it’s a verified account in the comment section!
@@this_isnt_patrick if only I got here 3 days ago 🤦♂️
@TheXPGamers when? You’re already 4 episodes in your tabletop (or atleast the tabletop game that’s being recorded)
@@ashandtodd I think he reused the concept with the freestar (I think that's what it was called) the Corellian corvette retrofitted with a hanger
@@MistahFox ah thank you
*Request:* in the movies we see the nebulon b frigate as a medical frigate with very little armament. Could we possibly see *your* rendition of a fully armed nebulon b frigate complete with 24 fighter hangar bay?
I believe the Nebulon B carried its fighters in external racks. Like the Gozanti cruiser
@@christophernemeth421 I've heard that one. I also know that in the x-wing games, it had an internal hangar bay. I've also heard that there were multiple different builds for the nebulon b as they were produced by multiple different shipyards. I'd really like to see EC Henry's take on it, since he has a gift for proportioning these ships properly with his software. And his fidelity is amazing...
I've never heard of the Nebulon B having more than a single squadron - In the Novel "X-wing Wraith Squadron" for example, there is an Imperial Nebulon B (Under Warlord Zinji), that had a compliment that only consisted of a single squadron of basic TIE-Fighters.
@@JonarusDraconius in the thrawn books, they carry 24. In some of the reference materials that I've read, they say that the empire designed them to carry 1 squadron of TIEs but the rebels were able to take advantage of deep storage inside the ship and expand that to 2 squadrons.
@@butterhat1938 Figures that the number would be Alliance specific... I mean, in the same book I just quoted, they managed to further modify an already modified CR-90 corvette to cram pretty much a full squadron of X-wings into it (The Imperial complement of this 'pocket carrier' having been a mere 4 TIEs).
This is your best type of content, you get to demonstrate both your artistic and technical abilities. Please continue.
Probably one of my favourite things about Star Wars HAS to be the ships. These types of vids are incredible and all I do now my Lego is make custom ship designs.
I honestly can’t wait for your next forgotten ship video
Wow, this ship was just featured in Marvel Star Wars #7, but without any of the re-imagining you did here. It seems the artist had access to the same original model.
Yeah
It was? What was the ship called?
@@thewiseguy01_71 It was not named in the comic, but you can find it on the very first page of "Star Wars (2020) #7: The Will of Tarkin part I". Wookieepedia just calls it "Unidentified Rebel Alliance vessel".
This series is still one of the coolest and most earnestly passionate projects I've ever seen and it honestly gives me a drive to continue creating as an artist as well, thank you.
Hey beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....but it's definitely not present in this. And I'd totally pilot it.
I second that notion. It's a solid looking warship
It doesn't look that ugly once Mr. Henry is through with it.
I say, why not use it as a ramming ship? If it has really good armor and shields, then just whip it out and send it flying . . .
@@odstbag337 hm... that plus a massive cargo capacity, you can pack it with explosives... not bad...
@@butterhat1938 If times get desperate enough, it could work. I think it has more value as an escort carrier under most circumstances.
You think that's bad? Boba Fett gets another ship in Legends called: Slave II and it looks atrocious. He eventually gets another ship and names it Slave IV and it looks mediocre but still not as bad.
At least the Slave II worked well.
What happened to Slave III?
The flying brick
@@LEGOJediMaster master chief?
@@jimboringo9958 huh?
I dont know what you people are talking about honestly. It looks so solid and tough for a smaller capital ship. Good work EC
I'm with you on this. I really love it.
Before Henry's work:...WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!
After Henry's work: doesn't look half bad now
It got it where it counts
He made a lot of special modifications.
Saw "Ugliest" and "Star Wars" in the title.
Thought it was about an ugly (a ship pieced together from other ship bits).
Not too far off, as it turns out . . .
I love the Uglies, I wish they were in more stuff
EC Henry: * model ships to exist and no longer forgotten *
everyone: You’re breathtaking!
Keanu: *pops out of nowhere* no you're breathtaking
You made an ugly lump of greeblies into an interesting retrofitted support carrier. I loved the package of A-wings stacked in the hangar. It's also much more interesting visually as well. Bravo!
You certainly incorporate alot of real life military vehicle components. It makes the things look a lot less alien. Impresive work though. Most impressive.
Oh I love it! Could easily see this being used by a pirate gang, small fighters, decent cargo space etc. It's perfect 😃
I think your almost there but the VERY human desire for ballance is a step in the wrong direction. Look at the Falcon that is also not a symmetrical design so it doesn't need to be either. also the HUGE fin under the hull would present problems on landing
since there is no proper sense of scale in the shots of the ship we have no real idea of how big it is though it looks like you have done a little too much squaring off as well.
To me it looks much more of a capital ship tug With Vast Retro engines and cooling fins for the repulsor engines. For when you need to get that Frigate or Cruiser into dock for repairs but cant guarantee that outlaw station has one on hand.
easy answer- not meant to land.
yes, you are right, the falcon is not symmetrical. but it also looks good! he even said that the asymmetrical design was awkward to build on. in the end, he found it important
I figured it lands on its side like Boba Fett's Slave I.
@@SineN0mine3 Same, I just thought it turned when landing, sideways or engine first
Theres a chance that the models for theses ships and the ones in the previouse video are stored somewhere in Lucasfilm archives at Skywalker Ranch and there might even be photos in there archive unit. It's how the Dornean gunship was found so it's possible. Maybe Phil Szostak will know if there is or not. And again, you are very creative Henry.
He's seen em!
he should've fuckin taken pictures
@@funnyguy3D i believe he wasnt allowed to. thats why he had to make a crude sketch. he said something like that in a different video as well.
PLZ don’t stop making this content
What about that ship that looks like Mon Cal with an EXTREMALY long wing? (1:35 just above the engines of foreground Nebulon B)
Yeah my curiosity is peaked there too actually. Sounds like he's gonna get around to it eventually though.
@@butterhat1938 I'm quite excited
Indeed, it looks interesting - I think that it can be some sort of "floating" drydock built on chassis of frigate or light cruiser
He's going to butcher that one and make his own, as well.
@TheSuccTM yea, that's the one, pretty cool redesign
I think someone should make a empire at war mod and put this ships
I can't wait until Dice asks you for these models for a future OT Capital Surpremacy in Battlefront 2.
In my book, that's a win(3).
I would love to see a video on each and every one of these filler ships introduced in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Mainly in the hopes of Lucasfilm canonizing these ships so that they can be used in the tabletop wargame known as Star Wars: Armada.
I would love to see that happen.
And the old video games like Empire at War.
Seeing as they're in the original movies, the ships are canon, even if not known canon.
I'd love to see a crew living inside a G-58
If EA/DICE ever make a battlefront 3 or a Renegade squadron. They should bring you on for ship design.
Ideally. Their should be a mode where you've got a fleet of ships like this a player can earn and upgrade and be used in a clan or team mode where it's your clans fleet against another's ah la EVE or star citizen style. I'd love to command an ISD or even this ship in a rebel fleet.
Looks vaguely B-wing-ish. Designed with the help of some Verpine? Would make sense to me, given its original use is very specialized.
Verpine?
Karkarodon!
Video Request: I wonder if it's possible to convert the various Star Trek Discovery Ship designs into more "TOS" looking vessels while maintaining the uniqueness of the designs themselves.
the ammount of work you put into these then the ammount of views you get for it... need more love man
Keep doing this please. These designs deserve to given backstories like all Star Wars characters and ships.
I love the design you came up with for this one and I love the mini hanger bays. The Nebulon B is one of my favorite Capital Ships, but this ship the way you designed-altered it is awesome.
You know, that makes want to have a mod for EAW with all those great models!
Yeah, it'd be great if AotR did this for EAW, they're one of the few mods with the "Dornean gunship" (also known as the Braha'tok)
@@KaiserMattTygore927 True! Though I'm not the biggest fan of AotR....But they did a great job with the units!
Queen Mola! Love it! As soon as you added the ventral fin, I thought: "Huh. Looks like a sunfish, now!"
Please do more of this. Especially doing backstories for those three ships you modeled last time.
Love the videos man! So cool how you can make ships out of the blobs on the screen.
I really love how you take these completely obscure background designs in Star Wars, and not just flesh them out, but give them a look that fits entirely within Star War's aesthetics. Your Mon Calamari frigate is probably among my most favorite designs!
I am strangely addicted to your designs
Maybe you could do this with Battle Star Galactiga 1979 colonial exodus fleet ships.
That would be so Frakking Great!!!! You might even find a few ships in that clutter of 220 ships that are aldo present in ESB lol.
@@richardched6085 there is the freighter from Silent running in there.
@@barrybend7189 I remember that lol.
Henry!!!! We would LOVE these on your art station or available to patrons (like me) as images!
Conversation between two rebel officers:
"How do we convert civilian ships into fighter carriers?"
"Just shove some A-Wings in there, those things are tiny."
EC, 4 years later and I still find myself enthralled by these vids. Awesome job. I have a couple of ideas for you...
1) Star Trek Miranda (TMP) in Star Wars. Kitsune's Science Fiction Conversions says this class carries 12 interceptors, 12 attack sleds, 6 fighters, and 4 shuttles... a bit much I think.
2) Star Trek Galor (TNG/DS9) in Star Wars.
3) HMS Victory and USS Constitution done in Star Wars style.
Great job, really loved it both your design and the backstory you came up with for it.
"I absolutely love bringing light to these neglected ships of the Rebel fleet."
Me too, keep it up!
As soon as I saw this ship sketch(0:50) I immediately thought of the Freelancer Barracuda Bounty Hunter fighter's vertical fin. It surprised me that so many different franchises have very similar design elements!
What program do you use for the 3D models? This is incredible!
Why would it need to be symmetrical?
@@DerpaTure9503 Only according to traditional values.
Zoe: You paid money for this, sir? On purpose?
Mal: She won’t be winning any beauty contests anytime soon, but she is solid. Ship like this, be with you ’til the day you die.
Zoe: ‘Cause it’s a death trap.
i love how it looks and the idea of a tanky minny carrier is honestly something ive wanted to see more of since homeworld cataclysms Shamans class
it looks like a flak ship made for large scale fighter screening while having a few fighters of its own to run defence.
4:11 Wow, since when did you make that ship on the left side of the screen?
Just looks like a Corellian bridge head attached to a YT-esque freighter
It does look like something Corellian Engineering Corporation would make
Blue Ranger maybe the “Corellian Repair Ship”? Idk, it just looks like the front of a CR90, so it’s hard to Categorize it.
EC Henry made it a “Corellian Tug Ship”, but he just contradicted that with his video, “What is This silly Rebel pod ship?”
The lack of the lower fin on the one we see in the film could be explained simply as it being removed to facilitate landing gear, it no longer being needed with the lack of radioactive material in the cargo hold.
You took a smudge in the background of a scene and turned it into a believable and interesting ship. Outstanding.
Looks like a minbari or a brakiri ship...
No, no,no, thats the accounting and payroll ship, everyone knows that.
That's wonderful! You took a blob and turned it into a ship that makes sense. I could absolutely see a comic series based on this.
This is awesome stuff! How am I just finding this channel for the first time? Really beautiful work and cool, lore-friendly backstory, I love it!
Henry what do you use to model all your ships / texture them? they are incredible, i use 3dsmax and wish to develop my skills even more, so some insight would go a long way for me. Great video and an epic creation, great work.
EC should do a Masterclass.
LUCASFILM!!!! Give this guy a call!!!
that ship design is pretty cool.
I love how you build stories into your designs
Dis gon be good
And it waaaaas
I am smelling alot of "Babylon 5" in this ship design.
World Traveler looks like a B5 Sharlin class
Love that you named it the Queen Mola; after the Sun Fish (Mola mola) that it totally looks like. Well played!
“Needlessly giving a backstory to every bit of junk, and neither ignoring the real-world reasoning nor pretending it invalidates the possibility of an in-universe backstory but actually using all the information given, real and fictional, to form a story that’s interesting on its own and seems to fit in canon” is what Star Wars is all about.
That’s not quoting anyone, I just figured the quotes were the only way of telling where the complex subject ended.
Just a suggestion: Could you tackle the ship right over the Nebulon-B’s engine at 4:15 ,the one with the wing out to the left?
“Unbalanced and asymetrical” makes it sounds like an EVE ship.
Yes more of this! I've been asking multiple star wars tubers. But I think you're my man. Even your smarts of starwars tastes into the details. Perfect.
I love these videos man really keep them up! They give such a new feel to the Rebel Alliance and a whole new meaning to "Ragtag Fleet"
Hey EC can you compare the SDF-1 Macross to the Galactiga( both 1979 and reimagined) as well as other "not so well known" sci-fi capital ships. As its sometimes hard to just see how big a certain ship is without context.
I love it! So ugly :D
I have to disagree. I think it's got a solid sort of masculin look to it that smaller capital ships lack. I really like it.
@@butterhat1938 that's what I mean, semi-sarcastically, it's really likable.
That hunk is amazing and fits the rebels perfectly. Great job!
Good work, pal. I really love the effort you sunk into this!
Still better than The Last Jedi bombers.
I want those Bombers to Fight like the millennium falcon. Acting like fast Gun boats. that can take hits. I wish they did that and had them escort the millennium falcon on an attack run. :)
@@eldrenofthemist2492 They're vulnerable asf.

This kind of looks like the ship from the beginning of Star Wars fallen order
I really adore your design ideas. They look SO much starwarsy, so much more than anything that we got since the prequels. I'd love to see those ships in a Tie-Fighter-style Star Wars game or even a space game where you could fly and manage those ships in an epic strategic Space Sim.
Un-balanced, asymmetrical?

I love these types of videos, thanks for putting the effort in. Looking forward to more.
I love the new ship design and it's backstory.
as always, you're nailing it mate. Keep up the great work!
Been playing catch up your videos having just found it the other day with the Nebulon B-2 video. I love what you're doing!
Your models are always AMAZING!!! Please dont stop making these super awesome videos
I think this is really neat and cool. i love how you just bring that little star wars feel to your designs, keeping them original but tweaking and modifying things that could, might, or should be needed. I would love to see a series or something of you making more of your own personal designs and ships, much like the MK2 b wing or the first order bomber. I love the dedication and well thought work you bring. You are a truly great star wars fan.
I am loving your renders of these background ships! I don't want to be that guy, but I would love to see your interpretation of the Starhawk Battleship since there is no official images and very few fan art designs. Keep up the amazing work my friend!
To me it looks almost like a sheathipede class separatist shuttle but your art is really cool too
Great video, always nice to see you bring attention to Obscure ships.
One thing I would love to see is more material on the Chiss ships, we have next to no info or images about it.
In the novel, Outbound Flight, Thrawn had a Command ship named "Springhawk", and we know next to nothing about it, except that it was a Chiss combat cruiser, a little longer than the Consular class Cruiser (which is115 Meters) and that it had a hangar bay barely big enough to dock a Corellian light freighter in it.
Would be cool to see such that ship being brought to live.
As you described the Queen Mola, I can imagine it missing it's lower fin in the movie due to supply. Because the fin isn't needed for radiation control, it was removed to give the ship a smaller profile and scrapped to give other ships more armor.
These videos are awesome. I love seeing you flesh out these small unknown ships
EC I love this series of videos, please continue making these models. I've always wanted to know what these ships truly looked like and I love what you've been doing.
You should consider a Patreon level that would allow a patron to have you render their starship design into a 3D model like we see on the show and maybe include it in a short video (just a flyby, or something). I'd definitely join that tier.
If you do private commissions, I'd love to discuss terms.
Your modelling is so beautiful
Man, I love your stuff. Thank you for all your hard work.
This went straight into my head canon.
You fascinate me with these videos, well done!
I ahve to say, I hated this design at first. But how you made it live turned it into one of my favorite fan-made designs after all. Really great work and I really want to see it in action!
I am seeing all your awesome Star Wars ship videos and I highly encourage you to either sell Star Wars Armada models or find someone like Mel's miniatures to team up to make the models. These would be awesome to have in the Armada game or just to collect!
I think I'm going to support your patron, your work is incredible, I loved your ywing and bwing and all your content is some of the best on this platform.
These are my favorite of your videos. Your designs are so true to the original trilogy's style. It's fantastic, and I hope one day some of your renderings are made canon.
This has become on of my favorite ships. Nice job!
Love these videos on unknown rebel ships. You’re doing a very good job EC.
I bet the name Queen Mola is a reference to the Mola Mola, or ocean sunfish, because that’s exactly what this ship looks like.
