- Adam and Norm finally get to unbox the new Robosen Buzz Lightyear animatronic robot! We've been excited for this 16" version of Buzz Lightyear ever since it was announced a year ago, and run through its setup and animations, including control via voice and a smartphone app. Its details and movements are really lovely, with some surprise features that left us yelping with delight!

Oh that's awesome and hey my birthday is next month on December 6th
Okay, I have one major issue with it. (And to add to that you guys failed to test the CASE!)
The case has ‘plexiglass’ inserts for the sides of the stand. BUT, it’s apparent that the designed it too narrow to allow the jetpack to be on while inside of the enclosure… whyyyyyyyy?!!
Yo! Y'all heard about adam savage sisters case against him? shit is crazy!!!
Adam & Norms responses are delightful, but the camerawork is HORRIBLE ! 😖
I'm getting sentient Toy vibes, not Toy Story though. Think another movie where they put a military chip in the figures.
Small Soldiers.
Better not connect Buzz to an AI network. First it will be Small Soldiers, inevitably followed by Skynet.
Time for Adam to build a functional full size Buzz Lightyear space suit and of course a jetpack.
I'm surprised he hasn't done that already.
That's what I've been saying since Lightyear was first announced, it's full of spacesuits he could make.
@@tobynobel5671I’ve had the same thought. I’m surprised that he doesn’t have a Space Ranger suit. I can’t imagine that he hasn’t at least thought about it. Remember Adam is basically a nine year old with adult money.
I've been wanting to see if he has any knowledge of the *_Fallout_* franchise (Bethesda's other popular franchise), and would build any of the Power Armor suits, like he did for the Iron Man Mk.I 😅

I would love to see this tech being applied to the Toy Characters from Small Soldiers. Imagine Major Chip Hazard and Archer walking around/fighting IRL.
I second that! 👍
i was literally about to make this comment! PLEASE WE NEED IT
Hell yeah!😆
Agree
Have you not seen the movie? That doesnt sound like a good idea 😅
There's something special about watching Adam's joy in discovering another builder's work. Especially when the builder put in the time.
The absolute best part about this is that it is infectious. I don't know how to build 80%* of the things he builds, but whenever he explains this kind of stuff he does it with such a passion that I'm always on board with whatever he's saying.
*a rough estimate. I'm okay at repairing broken stuff around the house, but that's about as far as it goes.

As cool as this is. I want it in the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command format and voiced by Tim Allen or Patrick Warburton.
Patrick Warburton might be my favorite Buzz ever tbh
... _whaaaaaat?_ are you a _phoooobe?_
Nah, this voice is fine.
Inneeded
That would be great
Adam clearly trying to weather the statue further by not washing his hands before filming 😂
I was appalled.
Depending on what he got into they may just be stained and washing them won’t make them look clean even if they are. Especially if your hands are a little dry they can stain pretty easy.
I was dying, he kept leaving marks everywhere lol
No matter how old a man gets, his passion for toys remains just as it was in the early days.
That's one expensive ass toy, no kid getting that lol
@GiJoe94 lol its only 780Dollars ain't that expensive
If it's not Tim Allen's voice, it's not Buzz Lightyear...no matter how much it costs
We understand completly. In France, we have a wonderful voice for buzz, Richard Darbois, all kids are grow up with this voice in their ears and nobody can replace him.
Imagine small soldiers figures if they got licence
OMG YES
Imagine when they start running around like small soldiers...doesn't seem like we are to far away from that
I was watching an interview with one of their designers and he was saying that they know the fans really want small soldiers, so heres hoping we get some!! I would drop some serious cash for a chip hazard for sure
I honestly think most of the technology is available now to do it. The problem is just how much are fans willing to pay for near 100% replicas? Then, how far do you want to take it, like do you want them to fight like in the movie? etc
Craaazy
Using water in the jet pack and getting it to make vapor is sheer brilliance on the part of the designer. Most impressive "toy" I've ever seen overall.
Seeing the absolute joy in Adam and Norm playing with Buzz made this the perfect video! Thank you!
Love that they look at models and stuff like that! Not what I expected when I started watching both Jamie and Adam doing Q&A a decade ago, but an amazing bonus!
It's incredible how even in just in the back pack, how much engineering is perfectly packed this all together. It's only a matter of time before the face moves and talks like the movie, and when that happens, practical is coming back, and toy soldiers too!
It's a modern marvel seeing Buzz come alive like this!
Holy cow this is INCREDIBLE!! NEARLY PERFECT! The ONLY THING missing to make this PERFECT is having Tim Allen's voice! Exquisite craftsmanship!! Hopefully someday they will be able to articulate his mouth, but, that would take a miracle!!
Thank you for sharing!!
It's not Tim Allen because it's the real Buzz Lightyear not the toy he's based on.
Wouldn't make sense.
They replaced Tim for this film with the explanation that it's not about the toy, it's about the guy the toy is based on. They wanted someone that could play the drama as well the comedy (take that Tim) and also someone who had potential to play the character in a live action film so they got Chris Evens.
For some reason they love to have big names in animated films because people are apparently more likely to go and see the film. If the viewing public didn't mind them recasting Mario and Luigi in that Super Mario film then I doubt they will care about Tim Allen (they’ll still use him if they make Toy Story 5).
Different Buzz.
@@timmturnerwhat??
@jacobpaint Tim Or Nothing This Toy Is A Toy So Go In Your Corner And Be Quiet They Ruined Buzz Light Year With Their Agenda!!!!
Adams reaction to things is great. Such a creative person of the arts and he is amazed by creative minds.
My only problem with the whole concept of the movie being the thing that Andy watched in universe, is that the animated series from years earlier totally felt like what he would have watched.
Yea, and the idea that he wouldn't have an issue with the Buzz toy voice sounding completely different from the movie because they didn't have Chris even attempt to sound like the voice Tim Allen used. It's a weak excuse so they could get the currently popular actor in the main role and the fact that they didn't just admit that bugged me more than anything.
I like to think of Lightyear as the modern reboot of Buzz Lightyear cartoon that Andy watched. The reboot is in itself a reboot. Also, just, you know, don’t worry about the head cannon. Cannon can ruin media in its own right when you worry about it if ‘matters.’ Same goes for speculating/focusing on real life events and motivations behind a piece of art. Take it in its own right and decide if you like the piece of art or not. I know most hated Lightyear but I really enjoyed it
@@DashierezHe sounds close enough to me. Honestly, there really isn't anything too distinct in Tim Allen's voice when he's voicing Buzz. It's mostly just a "Tim Allen being serious" voice.
Either way voice actors for merch get switched out all the time, (especially for video games) kids usually don't notice or don't care.
You have to stop applying adult nostalgia-based logic onto kids.
Two grown adults are all in awe and joy, like kids with their new shiny toy. I'm all for it.
Absolutely FRIGGIN amazing !!!! I'm soo geeking and completely nerding out watching this video. I gotta have 1. Thank you soo very much for sharing it made my day. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊
10 seconds in and I’m already smiling looking at two grown up kids almost literally jumping up and down from excitement 😊
Thats actually quite sick, 999 for that amount of stuff it can do, vapor pack, animations, sound. Static figurines costs 2k+. This is incredible.
i love seeing these two act like giddy children when they do these unboxing. the joy and passion is so infectious :D
That jet pack is one of the coolest things ever in a "toy". I cant help but to feel the jet pack is a couple of years ahead of its time. If it was available I think adding in the Frore cooling chip could be used to make the vapor flow more like a jet.
You’re both very grabby and work awkwardly together. That’s how we know you’re both excited and this is unscripted. Great genuine content.
Haha
The joy in their faces is incredible
The motion when Buzz did the shooting with blaster is so great! I'm screaming with excitement 😅😂
This was giving me such strong, small soldiers vibes even though it’s toy story. Absolutely love it.
Now they need to make animatronic Robocop figure!
@@-Trend- And in the ED-209 manual they would put in a command to stand down. That does nothing.
The highlight of that was watching the jet pack starting up like an old car engine on a really cold morning! Amazing!
These products are such an enormous price tag for something that can only be controlled by a smart device with an app that will inevitably lose support and won’t be able to be downloaded eventually just like Sphero did with all their droid products
Can we just have a video of Adam saying Rex’s lines from the movie excitedly? I think it will go viral.
I hope they do a small soldiers line up. The Chip Hazzard would be so dope. This is so awesome. As a toy collector im beyond taken away with this. Impressive.
Yeah, and I also hope legos, toys, and stuffed animals can play themselves to move, walk, and talk like humans.
As i grown-up watching toy story in 90's, im totally speechless throughout this video.
😍 This is awesome...
Adam is a boy that never grew up on the inside and that's one of the things we love about him. Cheers from America.
Man Im really tempted to reach out to this company to see if they would do a team up for a Small Soldiers run. I actually have 3d scans of almost all the props currently and have been working on replicas and even exact screen matched boxes using the same graphics seen in the movie.
Im really tempted to send them a message to see if they'd be down for it. Im admin of several of the Small Soldiers Facebook groups and would love to get in Touch with them.
I think you should I’ve seen small soldiers mentioned all over the place in relation to their robots.
I think a lot of people would have a think about getting Chip or Archer from the original toys. Alternatively, it might make sense to contact the people developing the War for Nekron and speak to them about developing and releasing high level toys for when their property (Is it a toy or game?) is released in the future. The great thing with the new ones is as they are modeled in UE5, getting the models together shouldn't be difficult. And if they are approached early enough, it might be possible to licence the voices of the actors that they choose to do the character's voices.
@@Marsattacks69 War of Nekron people are scam artists and actual currently have lost a lawsuit due to their improper trademark useage with Medabots. They were making a scam nft medabots game and trademarked Small Soldiers for the same thing. Thats why there hasn't been any news on it lately. If you google Medabots lawsuit it will show up.
Honestly if you want Small Soldiers to come back in any form. The smartest thing would be to post about it and tag hasbro along with dreamworks and keep it up. Otherwise essentially the Small Soldiers franchise is quite frankly dead.
I've been a deep part of the Small Soldiers fanbase for over a decade or so and Im admin of several of the Facebook groups.
Biggest one is barely 2k members
Do it, make sure they make the faces move with high end silicone faces unlike the Robosen buzz
@@EveryoneneedsaGary oh definitely man
Super cool! I think it be great if they made one that was from the Toy Story rather than the Chris Evans one. Also I would love it if they made a Johnny 5 like from the second movie lol
I've been waiting for this to finally come out. Great review guys.
It's so awesome to watch two grown men like their little kids at Christmas I love your excitement
I have a suggestion for Adam and for the channel, since I know that Adam loves to weather stuff and that he is a model maker by trade, buy a big scale RC truck and let Adam weather it and make some scale accessories for it, could be cool to watch with his experience
Surprised they didn't include a storage drawer in the base.
I love watching two grown men geek out over playing with what is essentially a toy, albeit at very expensive one. Norm's excitement is especially adorable. Thank you so much!
I was sold at the recoil of the pistol! Great stuff 👏
the Super Mario Bros Movie figure of Bowser does the same vapor thing this Buzz does, but from his mouth with a red light, to imitate smoke or flame. it looks pretty good too!
Vape tech had to be good for something :)
Absolutely the most amazing toy I've ever seen in my life! Wow!😮
Reminded me of the old classic movie "Small Soldiers"... Loved that one!
The best thing about these videos is I get to see the toy without spending $1000 :-).
Robosen should make a version with the original Buzz design. Maybe a Woody too.
Those subtle arm movements at 14:09 when he's shooting the blaster, insane....
That was pretty bad ass!
This is my childhood dream come true. They need to do a Small Soldiers set next. It would feel exactly like the film!
They missed a trick not making the rear support see through, and have it motorised to lift him when he’s taking off/ landing
This seems like the exact size Buzz would be in.
Btw, calling these Toys, as well as hot toys, seems a little wrong when you have to sell an organ to get one 😂
Got to love seeing Adam being 12 year old for a few minutes 🙂
You should totally make a draw under the stand, for all the extras.
If they make Sox, they need to hook him up to CGPT 😅
CatGPT?
@@matatath i had to anti censor it cause it got deleted by YT, but yeah, sure, CatGPT 🤣

It's achievable though if you sell someone else's organ.

I'm not a collector. I don't have any particular interest in toys and display pieces like these, I am a modeler but almost exclusively WW2 warships, tanks, and aircraft. I find myself nonetheless entranced by these videos, if for no other reason than the sheer enthusiasm. Like, I can't imagine myself getting stoked about a Buzz Lightyear figure, but I'm delighted by Adam's delight. That's why I love Adam and Tested, I've no particular interest in, say, toy collecting or book binding or Newton's death mask (although that was cool) but Adam's sheer enthusiasm carries everything and makes these videos so intensely enjoyable.
4:50 “Frenching” is an old hot rod/street rodding term. Car builders often “Frenched” the taillights by removing the bezel and mounting the light deeper into the bodywork.
And I thought _Kung Fu Grip_ was so awesome. That's a toy straight out of The Jetsons
Small soldier vibes
Please do more of these! 🥰
Its been around 20yrs or so but seeing this reminds me of the tv show i loved as a kid
I wouldn't pay that much for that if it's not Tim Allen.
I'll be interested once they release the Tim Allen version.
Love it! I wish it had a retractable space helmet but that's just me being greedy. This is perfect in every detail.
Wow, everything I wanted as a kid. This men are enjoying at a later age. Awesome!!
The smoke effect would be really cool for an animatronic Dragon...
(I'd so like to see Buzz's whole body moving as well, so he could lift up and make foot contact with the ground.... and then go off walking... ... maybe Sony are working on that lol)
I would personally never put $400 on a toy like this but man, that is actually very impressive, very cool
Well the jokes on you... Cause its $1000
you got my hopes up because $400 would have been a steal
@@aerykhurley8236 No,the jokes on you,its $999
@@fahq4thissame! I was ready to order when I saw the comment then was like no fucking way that’s only 400!

Awesome! The way he shoots the pistol!
i feel your joy lol wooohoo I am with you in every chuckle of excitement : D Amazing work by Robosen ; )
$750 is not bad at all considering what everything else costs these days. I was honestly expecting $1500 or more based on the case and stand. Im considering buying this for my son or nephew.
Small Soldiers Figures would be Mind Blow! This company must make them ASAP!!!!
@@anyvid100 Right???? 😁
Warms my heart to see all the Small Soldiers love here. I always thought that movie was obscure! If they came out with an Archer, I can't guarantee I wouldn't make a regrettable decision. XD
That's awesome, haha. Toy trains will produce steam with just drops of water too. Pretty cool that they've used a similar system for something extra here.
Those movements are so great! The sword slashing was surprisingly quick and cool... wow what a model.
Congratulations, Robosen.
Actually my Garden Railroad (LGB) Trains 1:22.5 scale you mineral oil, gives thicker smoke... by default some already had this in the early Analog ages, nowadays they added Pulsed Smoke on the Digital versions. That way it's able to keep on smoking (and have light ON) as the train stands still, it increases the thickness and intervals as it starts chuffing away! (tbh I barely put oil in it since it leaves a slightly sticky layer)
@@g60force Yeah the hobby stuff is much different and more realistic as you say.
Toy trains though marketed for kids just take plain water and produce steam such as you see in this video. It's pretty good, but not thick and white, but also leaves no residue.
I recently reviewed one for Amazon which chuffs and puffs pretty well in 10 second bursts while the sound plays too loudly, haha. I wired in a speaker cut off switch on the thing!
The only way this could be better is if they implemented animatronics in the face so he moved his mouth and eyes.
Just only if this was the original version of buzz from Toy Story
I'm so glad that you still have the "kid" in you.
That is TOTALLY awesome, would LOVE one!!
Not particularly a fan of buzz lightyear, but the figure in general is very cool!
They need to do small soldiers so many characters they can do
Yeah this thing's like 1200 bucks I think. And I saw Ryan's world made a video about it. Which means that there's going to be a bunch of kids asking their parents for a $1,200 robot for Christmas and there's going to be a bunch of parents having to explain that once again Ryan's playing with some expensive shit that nobody that's had a childhood can afford and we are in the second group.
Gorgeous...And now we need Archer and Chip Hazard from Robosen😂😂😎
Ah those wonderful BigBoy toys. You got to love em 😊
Shame the movie sucked. #disney2023

As someone who still owns the OG buzz toy this looks really cool
I might be in the minority but I wish this was the real Buzz Lightyear. Not the prequel Buzz. Most people do not care about this Buzz. But I do love what he can do, totally amazing to see.
That. Was. Brilliant. Thanks for that fellas :)
Not going to lie but this is awesome and worth every penny. For fans this is a wonderful centerpiece and great talking point 🏴
This gets me one step closer to having my very own small soldiers vs gorganites battle like the old 90's movie!!
When I was a kid I got a Buzz toy and though it was as cool as this, but holy crap… this one is actually really awesome
Very cool toy, love the new high tech capabilities of new tous
I smell a sequel of a stand with a drawer for Buzz's equipment!
This made me remember that when I was a kid I wanted one like this from Small Soldiers
I am impressed with the jetpack, foldable wings and vapour, I would love to see a glycerin boiler as a vapour system for thicker fumes, that would be nice.
No shot you actually are in a video with donut media hahaha i love it
Adam you got the coolest toys but the one thing I love most is the proton pack. Ghostbusters were and always will be my first hero's and im from 82 . Too bad we dont have those here in the Netherlands and online people ask so much for them. But I love that thing .
