Fixing & Restoration Honda Portable Generator EM600 Not Working And Leaking Gas,
I Always like to fix old vintage stuff mechines the hardest part parts replacement because it's hard to find parts, therefore I have to find way to fix or restore it
this generator made in Japan in 1980s I think 1984 maybe
i bought it from second hand store for $150 no gas to try it so I took my chance I know Japanese made stuff last very long time and what else could be terribly broke
except maintenance,
this generator worked few 1-2 seconds and stopped
problems and solutions
1- Spark plug dirty and gap blocked by corrosion and carbonated
solution replace it or clean it with cleaning parts spray with little sand paper,
2- leaking gas from caprator
solution,
A-replace the rubber gasket
B- check if bolts are loved or too tight or not tight at same level
C- Apply little gasket paste
note don't tight caprator too much.
3- caprator springs are either too tight or losed
-the throttle spring (speed control spring) was too hard , hard or soft must be at same strength with caprator gate spring it's balanced so can work, take spring out and if hard stretch it little bit or too soft squeeze it until you make it right tension
- the caprator gate spring was too soft losed and that can Cause the Gare to be either Always opened or closed, to fix it pull spring from one end about 1/2' to tension just enough to right strength
4- caprator dirty and blocked
solution, the caprator must be clean take it apart and use caprator cleaner or parts spray ,
note caprator has some tiny parts be careful not to lose them ,

Here are most common problems and solutions from easy to hard
1- bad spark plug, clean or replace
2- spark plug cable bad or has shortage, replace
3- Ignition coil, burned or bad , replace.

you might try looking at chainsaw parts for a suitable replacement, they come with 'screnches' all the time.
