    The Emirates is a nice stadium but Highbury was so iconic.

      Emirates would have been if we'd won as much as we did in Highbury.
      The funds/owners crippled us 😭

      @davebutton1 Před rokem

      No the local people crippled us, they wouldn’t allow us to expand Highbury, the emirates had to be built

      Read his new book, it's all in there! He was forced out by the rest of the board.

    I know it messed us up but just imagine where we would be if we stayed at Highbury

      That is frightening

      Remember that Stamford Bridge is only about 4k bigger than Highbury was. We could easily have rebuilt the Clock End but we'd have lost the Executive Boxes and wouldn't have that revenue stream. Unfortunately, NIMBYs stopped us making the North Bank bigger when that was rebuilt and that put the nail in Highbury's coffin.

    Problem with Wenger is he changes his tune now. He spent terribly at times

    But Arsene, you've had a billionaire owner so if the club wanted to move stadium you should have had guarantees you won't have to pay for it by selling your best players. Instead you have settled for a job safety when you could have gone to Real Madrids and PSG. They were happy to have you pay the stadium off and finish on top 4 and bring in the money and you were happy there was no pressure to win trophies as it would be elsewhere. All this about ensuring clubs financial stability and all that was a job the man sitting next to you and others after him were employed for. BTW you were on some £8M per year for 10 years you've not won a trophy. Wonderful manager in his first 10 years but the last 10 odd, even Arsene himself admitted, he overstayed.

    SUPPORT WHERE YOU'RE FROM! O' Leary starts this be saying "As a fan, I always say...." then prattles on about history, the shirt, etc. In my humble opinion, & I'll call out anyone on this, you support where you're from (or, at worst, where maybe your parrents are from). O'Leary was born & raised in a place nowhere near Highbury, no where near London even!

      @FLASK904 Před 2 lety

      That wasnt Dennis O'Leary you twat, that was David Dien. He was the chairman of Arsenal and responsible for bringing Arsene Wenger to Arsenal in 1997.

      I'm actually from the same town in Essex that Dermot O'Leary is from, and as an Arsenal fan whose Dad was born in Islington, I can vouch for him that his parents lived in Islington, a stone's throw from Highbury, for much of their lives before they moved out to Essex. O'Leary's Dad is a die-hard Arsenal fan, so although I support your sentiment of supporting your local club (I also follow Colchester Utd myself), people often have very valid reasons for supporting the club they do, even if not immediately obvious

      @@liampaton7820 I sort of take your point Liam but I'm sticking by what I said. I mean, wouldn't it be lovely if a media celebrity came out & championed a club like, say, Colchester United, Chelmsford City or Stanway Rovers even....the thing is they never do! All those media luvvies who live in London support Arsenal or Chelsea, regardless of where they came from. O' Leary could have still said 'My favourite Premiership team is Arsenal, my dad supported them' - I'd have a lot more respect for that & I think others would too.

      I’m 70 miles away from Arsenal, yet my greatgrand mother was from Islington on my dads side, hence my grand parents my parents me and my family are gooners.
