Your disc drive is probably out. Without connection to the disc drive it will not finish update. There are four fuses on the disc drive board and if one is blown then no update.

Buutt I figured out that I had to Format the USB FLASH DRIVE thingy to EXFAT.32 & Then all you do is create a new File ON USB FLASH DRIVE (PS4), Then you click on it and within the (PS4) File you create another file (UPDATE), theen download the Software File, and then go back into the PS4 file and then into the UPDATE FILE and save it there it should say this "PS4UPDATE.PUP" file and then You should be good to go buut don't forget to all CAPITAL THE LETTERS G!!! also if the PS4UPDATE.PUP don't work make sure you put ( ) around the "PUP" Part of the name of the final file other words it'll look exactly like this PS4UPDATE.(PUP)- but yeah that's only way fricken PlayStation System will except it for some reason hopefully that helps you get system ready to play again trust me and I've been going through some s***!!

this video is false. The error code SU-42118-6 directly means there is a problem with the hardware not the firmware. I looked on yt for videos and it explains the likely reason is bc the hard drive needs to be replaces. (may sound complicated but its not at all. here is the link for replacing the hard drive with a new one. (also if your looking around for a new hard drive type up on google 'ps4 hard drive 500gb' and click the amazon website.
