    Great video! Picked up my Taycan Cross Turismo 3 weeks ago in the US and can confirm that this is an amazing car that makes the transition to an EV easy, desirable and not feel like a compromise at all. As long as I follow EV charging “best practices” charging above 240 kW is realistic and results in 5% to 80% charging in less than 25 minutes. Highly recommend the Taycan Cross Turismo.

    It is insane how cheap it is to drive an EV in Norway compared to The Netherlands. As of now you are not yet paying taxes on EV's in Norway (in the Netherlands we pay 22% VAT on all EV's no matter how expensive/cheap) and in this video you mention that the Ionity fast charger at 350kW is only 185 Kroner/kW? That is 0,18 EUROS only! The same superchargers in the Netherlands costs 0,80 EUROS/kW if not more (so people try to avoid them as much as possible). Charging at home in the The Netherlands at 11KW is already 0,24 EURO/kW.
    This probably explains why the EV has not yet reached the same popularity compared to Norway. It is in fact much cheaper to buy a 150 hp ICE car (1,5 liter, 4 cyl), even with the current petrol prices of 2,00 EURO/liter. Which may actually be a good thing, as The Netherlands would not even have the electricity supply / infrastructure to make sure everybody can charge their cars.

  • @siciunasK

    The REAL reason why fast charge port is on the front right side is for it to be able to use Tesla charging infrastructure, but no one in Porsche could acknowledge this :D

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Před 3 měsíci +1

      no it is not... both the Taycan product manager and project leader (two different people) have told me to my face why, and it is for the same reason I explain in this video. If they made it to work with Superchargers it would have been at the rear corner, like in a Tesla. Charging a Taycan on V1, V2 and V3 with short cables is actually quite hard most places.

    • @siciunasK
      @siciunasK Před 3 měsíci

      mate... Do you HONESTLY think that people from Porsche would acknowledge something like this to the outside of the company, which is you in this case? In no scenario would this be possible, never :) And front right side is almost same as rear left side - same distances, pretty much. This story about fuel cap side of 911 is BS in plain sight - Taycan either way has ports on both sides, so aesthetically it make absolutely no difference :)

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@siciunasK sorry, but not only are you wrong but you're also an idiot.
      First of, Tesla's have their charge port at the corner of the rear. The Porsche is behind the front wheel, so not even close to the same distance. This fact alone debunks your claim. I've owned a Taycan for two years, so I know how hard it car be to charge when the charge cables are short.
      Second. I had dinner with the the project manager of the Taycan project last year. The story behind how Porsche came to make its first is very interesting. This Porsche engineer bought a Model S when it came out, and was so fascinated by the car he convinced the board to make an EV. The first months of R&D they actually used his personal vehicle before Porsche purchased several Model S' them selves. So again, you are wrong. The Model S was vital in not only the Taycan development, but also the actual inception. Porsche have not problems admitting how the Model S was important to the Taycan. So again, you are wrong. At this point I think you are just making shit up.

    About 20mins difference from 1 to 10 on 615km...means not relevant at all to me...Buy what ever EV you like best and you can afford!
    As soon the ID3 gets the new Version 3.0 via OTA, which is introduced with ID5...the charging time to 80% will be reduced by about 9mins...and this means one of the best.
    But as said, not really relevant...and ID3 is already only 10mins slower than Model Y.

    "...the chargeport on the right side, is stupid placement, if you ask me"... ?🤔
    Please Mr. smart ass, could you tell us WHY the placement for the DC fast charging port on the right side of the Taycan is "stupid"???
    I think that your totally annoying claim is the only stupid thing, but nothing more!
    First of all, it makes totally sense that Porsche designers are giving the Taycan customers the choice for charging the car on each side, because with such a solution the AC charging capability at home is getting more flexible. You don't have to stand in a certain direction to the charging wallbox.
    I think, that the DC fast charging port on the RIGHT side of the Porsche Taycan is perfectly placed THERE, because most DC fast charging stations are placed at the right side of the driving direction, when you are driving the car to these stations, "if you ask me".

    Hi Kris, first of all; I like your videos and greet your passion for EV cars.
    Few tips for you as constructive feedback that you can benchmark from Björn as well;
    - Please change cars that you test GOM language to English, as it always stays at Norsk which the rest of the world other than Norway does not understand. (Maybe majority of your followers are from Norway, that way i respect your way)
    - And also kindly invest for in-car lighting as it stays so dark whilst you're making the entry to the video. (Maybe at least you can use cars own)
    - If you'll able to show more dash-cam footage during your drive, it may be more comprehensive.
    Thanks for enlightening the way for EV's.
