- Well we got a little of topic today. Kinda, this was a lot of fun to do. Starting this we move the transmission under the vehicle and get right to work. While installing a used transmission is not something we typically do in our shop sometimes ya just gotta. The first step for install was to get the bellhousing matted to the back of the engine. Easing the transmission up flush we were able to make sure then converter had clearance to turn and that there were no wires being pinched or lines in the way. Now that we're matted together it's time to get to business, putting in the converter bolts can be a bit of a hassle but they have to be there. We work our way all the way from converter bolts right down to the the starter. After installing the starter and knock sensor and respective wiring we can move to the front engine mount. Once the mount is in we can get the axle shafts into position. Step by step this vehicle came right together. We really had a great time installing the transmission. Thanks for watching.

Great Respect for your knowledge and hard work.
I love this video its really awesome thank you for sharing it
Thanks for a great install video, getting ready to do this job, really helped seeing you do it first
very helpful, thank you!
Great video, I have been quoted $850 for trans r&r on this vehicle to $2200. quite a spread and great to see it done on floor without lift.
Thanks and yes it can be a bit of a job but totally doable.
Wow ..excellent video ..very methodical ..professional ..I’ll be doing a 12 Traverse next week ..very informative ..and extremely helpful ..thank you!
Absolutely

Hi Dave great video your a beast, big job.is cradle same as sub frame?
Yep it most definitely is. Thanks for watching
Great video. What do you charge to put in a used transmissions on this Buick enclave if I purchase the used transmission. Thanks
Great video. 👍 Love the install videos. Was the customer supplied transmission tested. Looks like alot of work taking it in and out again.
It was tested before install
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 how do they test a used transmission?
Can you tell me if I just replaced the torque converter, do I still need to take it to the dealer for reprogramming. I did have the battery unhooked for about a 4 days.
Excellent and helpful if I need to do the transmission in my daughter's Traverse. Only one question. With the cradle and most mounts removed, does the engine need to be temporarily supported from above? If so, what method did you use? Thanks.
It does need support I use a engine hanger that I purchased from AutoZone.
On these units do you ever need to shim the converter to keep it from pulling too far forward? Awesome video by the way.
Luckily not that I've ever seen. Thanks it was different to video on the floor lol.
What is holding the engine up when the cross member and the motor mounts aren't in?
but I mean that mine is the same and I want to lower the transmission and my question is, should I remove the 4×4 awd transfer to be able to separate the transmission from the flywheels?
Can you help diagnose? No reverse. When i switch to manual mode and set to 4. I can drive smooth 1-4. If I set to 5. It will shift ok all the way to 4, then try to get into 5 and then jerks back down to 4 and then forces out of manual mode. I can not re enter manual mode until I stop vehicle and turn off engine...any thoughts?
Off the Bat ...Right off the Bat...it be best keep my Rusty fingers off ..
Lol
I said today 2/14/22
I will be 59 years of age I see David at the craddle..and dirt on his knees...I recall me doing the same.
But I had to adapt to those knee pads when being that active at 58 years of age...I tell ya what there good product at any age.
But no I have to wear pads.on my knees..and my dental protection too a mouth pcs.
To keep from Gritting TEETH..during heavy lifting and such.
Great video Great action..but I only understand 4L60E
That all I own
Lots of personal satisfying being able to work as David and others have the ability
What are the torque specs for the 4 main cradle bolts?
For a dry fill do you fill half way then fill test engine idling?
Yes
Can you tell me the symptoms of a 1, 2, 3, 4 drum failure? I've got an 09 that's slipping horribly in 1st, sometimes does not engage, and has a shudder in the lower gears. Sounds like this may be my issue. Would it be possible to just replace those in the transmission or would a torque converter be required too?
I would be inspecting pressure switches first.
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 Those all tested fine with an ohm meter and I replaced the seals with the Sonnax kit. No change in symptoms. Edit: I did have a pressure switch related code that lead me to that first actually. The code didn't come back, if that matters.
What was the fluid condition
@expressautotransmissiondav4207 looked good. Still red, not burnt. I do drain and fills every 30k miles anyways. I did send a sample to Blackstone too, but I won't hear back for a week or so.
Do you have access to a quality scan tool to look at shift adapt data tables.
Hey, I have a torque converter out on a 2016 buick regal with this trans, is there room enough to do that without dropping the whole cradle? Just looking to not do unnecessary work if I can avoid it.
I would not attempt without removing cradle
@expressautotransmissiondav4207 that's what I was figuring. But never hurts to dream. I just wS looking around at the car, and it's pretty tight in there, no real room to wiggle it around. Thanks anyway! And thanks for the video, I'm sure it's going to be a useful tool in my endeavor.
Absolutely those regals.are fun to pull out. Two major things make sure the radiator and cooling system are tied up they are supported by the cradle also make sure the exhaust is.unbolted at manifold and from center collector and that cradle will just about fall out with ease..
@expressautotransmissiondav4207 thank you! Good to know!
@expressautotransmissiondav4207 well, I successfully completed the job, thanks for the info on the cooling system, I would have had a mess without it.
but I mean that mine is the same and I want to lower the transmission and my question is, should I remove the 4×4 awd transfer to be able to separate the transmission from the flywheels?
