I watched so many videos on how to set up a sub and your video was the best, keeping it simple, to the point, and super useful. Many thanks
Those are high compliments! Thank you 🙏🏾!
My man, this video is the one. You’re a gifted instructor.
Thank you!
Finally I find someone who can explain subwoofer terms in an ez way... I am a fan now!!!
Thank you!
This guy just knows how to explain stuff with so much ease and utter clarity. Thanks Bruv
Thanks!
I've got to just take a minute to acknowledge the fact that not only do you explain things so well I like the fact that you devote time to the smaller details like the difference between the Denon and the Yamaha I applaud you sir damn good work I subscribed
Thanks! I appreciate your subscription and comment. I try to explain things in an everyday manner and it means a lot when someone says they understand and appreciate my efforts!
I couldn't agree more! 👌

Great video. Very helpful too. Was just doing some research on when to set my speakers to small vs large. This video helped clear that up. Thanks.
Glad to help! Enjoy the new setup
one of best video i watched about setting crossover and setting all speakers as small even though u hv large floor stading spekaers.. the technical part of not drawing much power out of ur amplifier is on point as the sub has its own amp built in.. awesome thanks man
Thanks a ton
I have the Denon avr 740 I think it is and you just answered a lot of questions I had specially about how to hook up the base
Great video. Took me weeks of confusion and and messing around slow and painfully to learn all this stuffm..Wish i had seen this video the day I put my system togther
Thanks for watching!
Love your teaching skills!! Learning so much! Thanks!

Happy to help! Don’t forget to subscribe and share the videos!
What is the cord that I would use to hook my Yamaha 5730 to my Yamaha SW010 please. I bought an RCA cable but the plug was too large for the input on the SW
great job, this guy knows his stuff and takes the confusion out with a very straightforward approach. i was confused about using a Y-cable to L/R jacks on the back of the subwoofer but now it seems ....correct me if i'm wrong.....i can go with a basic single RCA jack into either the left OR the right input jack and it makes no difference.
That’s correct! Thanks for the support!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist now i will tell you i did buy a 15-ft cable. let's see how well it works!
you're the best of all in term of knowledge how to setup a sub/subs in a AV receiver...many thanks & happy new year! NYC

This was outstanding and so helpful!!! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Take a pat on the back.....most of the people who do Home Video explanations are more interested in showing off how much they know, than helping the beginner get his system working. This video got me further into success than all the others I wasted my time with. Keep it up.
Thank you!
Helped a lot, thank you for your video!
You’re welcome! Don’t forget to subscribe and share the videos! 😁
Thanks for your video .For Yamaha receivers YPAO sub level calibration it’s recommended that level post calibration should be around zero to 3 . after reviewing sub level in first calibration You can tweak sub volume by on second calibration to fall into the 0 to 3 range.
Ok thanks!
Thank you so much taking the time for us newbie's.
You’re welcome and thanks for commenting

Finally a video on using multiple subs that is actual informative and not filmed with a smudged cell phone camera. One question...one of my subs uses speaker wire and the other uses the connection you showed (the one you can get as a "Y" splitter), I already have one connected but I'm not sure how to connect the one that uses speaker wire. Any suggestions? I have a Yamaha RX-V679BL
I found this on Amazon and it could work but I haven't tried it. You connect the RCA end to your receiver and the other end to the sub. Hope this helps!Full disclosure this is an affiliate link so I will get a small commission if you put this cable.

What a great video thank you
You’re welcome!
Thanks my friend! Lotsa help
You’re welcome 😊
I've watched many videos....and you're the best!! Awesome job explaining everything, simple and to the point! I do have a question about the sub cable: the info I gathered tells me the sub can be placed anywhere in the room- what if I want the receiver and sub on opposite ends of room? (Theater setting) How can I make a longer sub cable? Do I buy the "y" and then use speaker cable to extend it to sub? Thanks
Thank you 🙏🏾😀. Yes you can place them on opposite sides of the room. Just use the Y cable and a long subwoofer cable. You can find them on Amazon.
Very good
Wow! Thank you!!! Excellent video, and yes I did like and subscribe 👍
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video
🙏🏾
Very helpful 🙏
Glad to hear that, thanks!
Well done!
Thank you!
This sub didn't have a hypass rca output so if hooked to a preamp output the main speakers will still be playing full range?
This is great thank you
You're very welcome!
Very nice video and help me to understand the phase and low frequency Q. I have a receiver with 1 woofer out and a bash 300s amp plate how connect 2 woofers to the amp plate?? Parallel or series? Thanks
Thanks for watching, parallel.
Great video!!!
thanks 🙏🏾
2:47 you make it sound like adjusting the lowpass on the sub will adjust the highpass on your speakers. it doesn't of course
Please I want to know more about using the RCA splitter for a multiple subs.... Coz I have tried it with my two subs (Onkyo and Sony)but they don't sound very well like using only one sub
Any advice for how to eat up heights on a vaulted ceiling? Undecided on weather or not to use in ceiling speakers or just mountable. Mountable would be preferable because I have a T&G wood ceiling but I want the best sound possible 🤷♂️
I mount mine and it works great, I mention them in this video: czcams.com/video/cW5mhuVXogI/video.html
Great video. I’m confused about the left right ports on the back of the subwoofer. So I just need to use just either the left or right port? Right now I have a double headed rca cable running from the subwoofer to the Yamaha av receiver (RX-A780). Thanks for any help.
Typically I use just one but if you have a dual ended cable it should work fine.
Thanks so much for the great video! One thing I'm a bit confused on is if you set your crossover in your receiver to 80, what do you actually physically set the knob to on the subwoofer itself to ensure it doesn't interfere with what you said in the receiver settings? Thanks in advance!
Set it above what ever setting you choose. For example if your receiver is set at 80Hz then set the subwoofer at 100hz that way you know the subwoofer is playing everything the receiver is sending.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist thanks so much!
Excelente gracias
Thanks!
@Home Theater Hobbyist WOW ! your always there when i need your help! lol thank you so mush bro! ;-)
Thanks, happy to help! 😀
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist 1 last thing when you have time chick out the Definitive Technology CS9060 Center Channel. I want it but do i still need a Receiver or can i just run it with my TV?
I have a 2 channel stereo receiver with A + B speaker settings and want to run a 2.2 stereo system. I have 2 subs on the way from a Black Friday sale and was wonder if I can run basic speaker wire into a Y connector then into the LFE or Line In on the back of the subs?
I don't think so, I'm not aware of a speaker level to line level connector.
Excellent
Thanks
Thanks for the informative video. My Onkyo TX-NR686 does not have a large or small speaker option, just says "full band, or set crossover depending on speaker size". All my low signals go to the mains and center, and almost none to my sub. My Fluance DB 12's do not have an lfe, just line in. Have the crossover on sub all the way up, phase on "regular" and even with volume 3/4 up, almost no bass. The cable is plugged into subwoofer pre out on AVR, and into line in on sub with a Monoprice sub cable. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.
When you run the Onkyo speaker calibration do you hear audio from the sub when it sends a test sound to th sub? If not you may not be getting audio to the sub, first I’d switch cables then maybe inputs on the sub if you have multiple inputs, then try the same on the Onkyo if you have multiple sub outputs. If you are getting sound during auto calibration you could also try setting your speakers crossover setting to 80Hz instead of “Full band”. That will send more bass signal to the sub.
Great video. I have 2 klipsch subwoofers. I used 2 subwoofer cables. One for each subwoofer. Should I not do that?? Should I get the Y cable and connect the second subwoofer that way?
2 sub cables is fine, continue living your life and enjoying your setup! 😁
There are two line in/ sub in inputs on your sub. Which one do you plug the cable into? Also, on my integrated amplifier I have two sub/ line out inputs. Which one do I plug the cable into at that end?
Either connection should work, if it doesn't try the other. Mono signal is fine for a subwoofer.
Quick question.. I dont have a receiver.. but I wanted to know is it possible to hook my 8 inch theater solution to just my TV and let it power it that way
or does it need more power to actually make the sub work...
The sub have a "left and right" input and the cord you mentioned "male and female 2x.. the TV outputs have 1 Arc hmdi, 2 HDMI, 1 optical digital out: which is hooked to the soundbar...
And components av 6 I believe..is it possible to run the left and right out of the components into the power based subwoofer left and right "in".. I turned it on and I don't here much of anything..
so what ever solution you have will be grateful..
I have an issue where for content say regular TV where there is no DTS 5.1 track like there is on blu rays which sound fine, the audio has far less bass and the sub seems to kick in and out i can hear the click off when more bass comes in to the signal. is there a way to get more of the signal in to the sub by default for this kind of content. or is this just a crossover setting on the amp to increase?
Awesome video :)
Thanks!
Thank you 👍
You are welcome
GREAT VIDEO!!! Very well explained. Can you help with my specific situation. I have a Denon 3806 receiver and a polk audio HTS 12 sub. On the back of the Denon receiver, there is a white RCA port for SW pre-out. There is also a white RCA port for SW Ext. IN. On the back of the sub, i have two options as well. The first is a single black RCA port that says LFE. The other option is a red and white RCA port that says LINE IN. How should I be connecting my sub to the receiver and how many wires will I need? If its to the LFE then I assume its just 1 RCA cable but if its to line in, will I need a Y cable on the sub side of the connection to hook into both red and white? Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I’m not totally sure on this one but I would connect the white SW PRE-out to the black Lfe port. Make sure the volume is low and try some sub heavy music. If that doesn’t work try the other option. Hope this helps!
If I don’t have the rca type connector just plane wire connection on my sub it’s older sub doesn’t have all the buttons like your sub. How do I connect to Onkyo receiver TX-NR626
My subwoofer has a dual cable white and red, should i plug both on sub and yamaha receiver?? My receiver shows two black ports , no sure if it goes there
Thanks for the video sir. Does it matter where i plug my rca cable coming from the receiver into the subwoofer do i use the white or red input
You can use either one, red or white.
