I'm not joking when I say I've been trying to work out how speakers are connected to each other/amps/subs etc for 3 days without things making a whole lot of sense, and this one video has me understanding everything to do with subs perfectly. Much appreciated!
Another great video, I bought the Sony subwoofer on sale for 98 bucks and now I know how to hook it up, thanks Randy
Thanks for making my mind right when I'm screaming into the abyss! You keep me dialed in!!!
Thank goodness for this video. This guy's whole vibe and demeanor is just gold
So helpful for my new sub! Thanks! Also, since installing my sub, I thought I was imagining things when my Klipsch bookshelf speakers started sounding crisper. Your explanation makes sense as to why that's true!
LPF low pass filter. Great channel, love the Everyman vibe. Please keep it coming.
Very informative! Great info on not only adding a sub, but also what to look for in a sub for your particular situation. Your reviews are awesome! I'd love to see you do a budget streamer shoot out, or for the budget home theater guy "how to live without a center channel" or "budget home theater without a center channel" or "cutting ties with your center channel", and also "budget-minded upgrade your speaker cables/RCA's/ subwoofer cable/ etc." Excited for the sub $300 speaker challenge"!!!!!
Appreciate it. You've got some great ideas and I'll put them to use... I owe you, my friend.
Good video dude / tutorial! Well done, like lamends terms style. You've definitely conveyed it in a non-intimidating manner. I'm all about lending ones experience in such a way to make it easier for the unfamiliar to receive without all the pretense / intimidation / elitist factors. After all, at the end of the day, its really all about the love of listening to / enjoying music & all the feely/feels that ensue. Well done, again, Sir!
Came across this while trying to figure out how to mod in a subwoofer out on a Bose speaker pair with integrated power. While this didn't solve the problem, it did give me some ideas on how to pull it off and how to isolate the bass response on the speakers themselves. Thanks!
You just saved me a lot of money on the headphone amplifiers I was thinking about buying because some had "sub-outs".
Hi Randy,
I love your videos very much. Do you know why? You bring me back to my teenage years (I am 44 now), because you are exactly like my high school German teacher, Herr Geiger. You eyes, your beard, your hair, your wrinkles, the style how you speak, your gestures, everything exactly like him used to be 25 - 30 years ago. In this video you even you are teaching me. Magical. :)
I am still running my Hsu subs. They aren't the fanciest. They aren't the most expensive; they aren't the cheapest. But they have been making me happy for a long time now.
Randy, another option to the 'inline' capacitor high pass filter is to put a higher power resistor in parallel with the capacitor. This will be kinder to your amplifier at low frequencies. For example if your speaker is 8 ohms, and you want 50% less bass, you will put an 8 ohm 50 watt resistor in parallel with the capacitor you're using.
I just bought a used powered subwoofer and I thought it would hook right up but no.... you have really helped and I didn't want wast my money
This might have been a simple video for you to make but I have been trying to understand this concept for a very long time. Thank you so much for all of your videos and knowledge you are a blessing to the average High fi enthusiast !!! And BTW to all fans reading this Randy is just as cool in person . I met him at axpona and he took a photo with me without any hesitation. Super cool bro 😎
Hey, Anthony! Great meeting you.
Oh damn this doesn’t speak to powered vs passive though. Sucky
Very helpful. I always wondered why those terminals were there. Now I know. Thank you!
Watched a few of your videos and got some great info! Got a pair of RP 500M and drive it with the little T9 in my 13x11 office and it sounds better than I could have imagined! Subwoofer next although it really doesn't need it. Thanks for the great info!
Thanks for this, Randy. I've just been randomly twiddling the knobs on the back of my sub, and kidding myself I knew what I was doing! Phase? Yeaaah, we'll have some more of that!
I'm probably going to remake this video with some b roll
Thanks for the info. I learned more from you in 5 minutes than the store sales staff at Best Buy could do in the same amount of time.
Ok, I try that with my cheap ass Mohr subwoofer ... the settings etc. ... I may later change to a Polk matching the new fronts and rears ...
... finally some understandable instructions.
I used to set up subwoofers and used a capacitor as a hi pass filter at the amp’s inputs instead of the speaker inputs. This meant the input impedance was higher and more linear than a speaker’s and eliminates low frequencies from reaching the amplifiers. As an amplifier’s impedance is 10k or higher a much smaller and higher quality capacitor can be used and a speaker’s input impedance is anything but linear. I’ll have to look up my equation for determining the amp’s -3 db point as my memory is vague. Think it’s 1/2pi f c. Polarity change doesn’t need a switch, just reverse the speaker wires.
Depending on whether you wire them in series, or parallel, coils and capacitors can be used for both high pass, and low pass filters.
i pulled out my old kenwood sw-35HT sub and been using in along with polk rti-28 bookshelf speakers for my pc. have dac and amp. Dont wanna leave my PC anymore.
Good video! A couple of points:
1. Line level is the unamplified preamp level. Use RCA jacks or balanced connections, if you have them on your equipment.
2. You can use a y-connector on your preamp output if you have powered speakers. Run one leg to the main and one to the line input on the sub. It won't provide high pass filtration to the powered speaker, but you can definitely run a sub.
3. Some audio guys like using the speaker level (powered signal) even better than the preamp level signal They claim it helps match the sound signature better.
4. Many people use a sub as an add on to the main speaker when it is for music. In that case. No hp filter on the mains.
5. If you wire in a capacitor to block hi frequencies on the mains, try to use a decent one. Electrolytic types do have bad toleancing and the tend to store the energy longer and smear details a bit. If using 100 speakers, don't sweat it.
#2 is a no-go, unless just for fun. Or at least the volume won't be the same for Right and Left. #4 that is not true, most stand mounts will benefit from a high pass filter, and let the sub exclusively play the very low end. :)
@@jungtarcph I respectfully disagree with your statement. 2. Is fine. A powered sub and then powered speakers. Each with volume control. Then left and right channels, each with a y jack. Or, just run preouts to the sub/s and high pass from subs to powered satellites.
4. This is done all of the time. I personally like a high pass filter to the bookshelf, but it is not always necessary. If they do a great 50 hz, you may just add the sub at the bottom. There are lots ways, but, none of mine were "wrong".
Hey man, I was wondering if I Could run rca cable from my 3.5 pc port, split it with y-connectors into 2 pairs of left and right, and connect each to an active sub and active speakers? You sound like a good person to ask 🙏
@@wvrnstng Yes you can definitely do that. Depending on the output levels in the PC, the signal may be a bit weak. May not produce 2V at all four of the RCA outputs. Hook it up and check the levels. Is it loud enough? Is the base response punchy enough? The preamp signal is very important for dynamic capability. If it is lacking, get a simple preamp, (there are many) and run the 3.5 jack/RCA adapter into it. Then split the output of the preamp into the active speakers/subs.
@@markceci9896 Thank you!
You had me at "cheap audio guy"
Thanks for information!
Love the shirt.
This taught me about phase on my guitar too plus some great information well explained,I come here to see if you had a hack to turn my oldish Samsung subwoofer into a Bluetooth 1 to pair with a new Samsung sound bar, seems a waste getting rid of a working item👍
You’re doing a great job and putting out great content. Watched several of your videos and enjoyed them all. I’m getting back into the Hi-Fi world in 2021 from a long time off and glad to have stumbled across the channel.
Secondly, that’s a great shirt!
Yeah. They're the leading terraformer out there
Hi Cheapaudioman, first thanks for your videos they are great! 1) For adding subwoofer on open baffle, one on each channel (L & R total 2) or single one place on centre, will it make a significant different? 2) My pre amp have a tape rca out, power amp only have speaker out, use pre amp tape out or power amp speaker out to subwoofer amp will be better? 3) If I use the high level out from subwoofer to main speakers, will it change the sound fr my power amp? 4) How about connect an active crossover fr pre amp tape out > another power amp > subwoofer drivers? thanks. 🙏
You don't have to have a sub out on powered speakers. I ran into that issue with the elac navis. What you can do is if you have a separate pre amp and dac or if it's integrated you connected the pre-amp out connection to the subwoofer's in rca left/right channel and then you connect the powered speakers to the subs rca out.
So it goes speakers > subwoofer > preamp > Dac > source (pc ,cd player etc)
I'm a simple man, I see a extra headphone jack, I plugin in sub.
Hey bro one doubt
I like Leonard Skynyrd too.
I'm sure you're the same way with the hoes
Very good information. I like your down-to-earth style
Thanks so much.
Thanks...lots of good info. I want to connect my passive sub with +/- wire inputs to my AV receiver that's expecting that single pre sub in. Do I absolutely require a separate amp in the middle? It sounded like you briefly touched on that by connecting the sub to your front speakers [?] or something like that. I've read a few examples but they don't seem to finish off the how to. Hope you can shed some light.
This was very helpful.
What edifiers do you have in your office? Also what model is the sealed 10in sub you have? Been looking all over for cheaper sealed sub options
Thanks. Great video . Well explained.
By the way, I love the cheesy 70's game show music.
Hi Randy.
I purchased a Fosi BT20A amp and Sony SSCS5 speakers based on your reviews.
This $200 dollar system sounds much better than my $500 Sonos Five.
I am going to add the Sony Core sub-woofer SA-CS9 with an in-line bass blocker.
The SSCS5 speakers go down to 53 Hz.
Question:
1) Can you recommend what size first order high pass filter should I buy for this system?
2) Where can I purchase high pass filter online?
Cool video. As a hardcore weather nerd (I chase hurricanes), it's cool to see hardcore nerds in other arenas (like audio equipment) doing their thing. 👊
P.S. To be clear, I mean "nerd" as a compliment. Like, someone who's deeply specialized in some topic.(Didn't want to seem insulting.)
You all need to try HSU subwoofers. I have 2. They blend in so smoothly! They make my movies sound incredible. My little Revel center channel sounds like a huge wall of sound. I don’t know how they do it. I’ve got Revel and Definative technology subs and they don’t even come close!
I'll check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
Great video..i got a Klipsch Cinema 600 soundbar, wich has a sub out...if i wanted to hook up a powered sub to it, when i change the volume of the soundbar..the volume of the sub wont go up or down right?
Thanks Randy! I have been doodling ideas about how to connect my TDK S60 Subwoofer into my Panasonic SC-PM45 shelf stereo system to work with my Sherwood DSS250e speakers that I purchased new December of 1988. Replicating the circuit to accept speaker level inputs and using a capacitor for high pass cut-off sounds possible, maybe a sniffer circuit to pick off the signal and reproduce a line level output to head off to the subwoofer... although the Sony subwoofer that you talked about might be a good idea... I have some old National black and white television equipment looking for a home... you don't want that do you? Just thought you might be into that ... I am in Melbourne, there are direct flights to Dallas...could just put them in stowage if you had some contacts in the airlines...
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of getting the 60 watt Monoprice sub to connect to a 7 watt Tube Cube amp. Will that work?
Such an informative video. Thank you!
Interesting story: I purchased a Klipsch R-12SWi on Amazon and it was basically DOA. I called and went back and forth with them about connections and this and that to troubleshoot the issue. In the end they refunded me the money and said do with the speaker as you see fit. I guess it was too expensive to send back. So, without anything to lose, I took the sucker apart and soon found that the positive wire leading to the driver had a failed solder connection. I soldered the connection back and it now works like a charm. I feel slightly guilty but oh well... such is life. It sounds good I guess but I have nothing really to reference it to. I am running all Klipsch and being the noob I am went with the sub as well. Though SVS is staring at me. If I was to change anything now it would probably be the Receiver. I am running an Onkyo TX-NR 636.
I have an oknyo 686 and another older one. They're solid. I like mine.
@@cheapaudioman how does your 686 compare to the marantz you reviewed?
these video made my audio system way cheaper then it has too. Thank you!
Hi! Maybe I missed it in this video but was wondering if I can connect my older passive onkyo sub that has only two speaker wires to my newer onkyo receiver that has rca sub out. I can get rca to av adapter but will it work? I am assuming that newer receiver is for powered subs mainly. Thanks!
Thanks so much very informative! However! I need some help though, I've got a subwoofer with only the red and black RCA inputs and a receiver that only has 1 red and 1 black output they are occupied by the left and right speakers I have hooked up I tried connecting an LFE cable to one of the right RCA outputs on the receiver but got nothing then tried the left and got nothing? so I'm a little confused and there's no LFE output on the receiver only left and right for the speaker outputs any suggestions? maybe an adapter? or some sort.. I have an adapter connected via optical which is a 2.1 stereo that's hooked up to the RCA on the receiver then obviously connected to the optical

If running audysey, what should I set the volume on kind on the suv to before starting the auto setup? Half way? All the way up? Quarter of the way?
How about active speaker that are connected with 3.5 cable. Speakers that I'm talking about are Foster PMO.3

Hello from Houston 🤘🏼 Thanks for this and all you videos. I bought the Fluance signature series bookshelf speakers because of your review and I LOVE them. I recently purchased a Technics SA-202. I’m looking forward to hooking up my Hitachi turntable and Sony CD player 🙌🏼 and now I’m looking forward to hooking up my Sony 12 inch powered sub to my new to me vintage receiver. I believe I’ve reached musical nirvana 😆 (for now anyway). Also I was wondering do you advise not powering off my vintage receiver Technics SA-202 ( and my Yamaha
a/v receiver) or do you recommend turning them off. I’ve heard some say that it prolongs the lifespan if you leave them on. Thanks in advance! Cheers 🍺

Can i connect tweeters(Front right left speakers) directly to an active woofer and play music without an external amp/ reciever. If yes, how do i hook up my phone or other device to play music
Superb explanation! I have a HTIB Sony IV300 which is hooked to a passive subwoofer via speaker wire. Will connecting the same to an active subwoofer work?
Thank you for this video. I had a question though. I have an old JBL SB400 soundbar with subwoofer. The Soundbar is no longer working but the subwoofer is good. How can I repurpose it? It is a wireless subwoofer so it doesnt have any ports in the back. Is it possible to connect it to my PC so i can use it as a sub for the PC. I already have 2 M-audio desktop speakers connected to the PC.
HI there. I just found some of your videos and very good too. My situation/problem is I have an old Subwoofer that just has Speaker Wires (Non Powered Sub) and I just recently bought a Sony STR-DH 790 Receiver and obvious has Sub Out , but I don't know what to do to connect it to the Receiver since the Sub is OLD SCHOOL. Any suggestions. BTW I"M new to Recievers and I wanted a Dolby Atmos Receiver. Hope you can help me. thank you ahead of time.
I thought this was going to a boring video as I thought I knew all that stuff. BUT - WOW - I learnt a whole lot!! Thank you!!
Speaker level inputs is the same as high level inputs?
if I send a signal from a 20 watt, 4 ohm, receiver into the speaker in on my subwoofer and then attach my speakers to the speaker out of the subwoofer, would the speakers need to meet the watts/ohm requirements of the receiver or Subwoofer? i.e is the subwoofer pass through, or could it increase the watts to my speakers?
How do i connect fosi class D amp to subwoofer? after i connect my 2 speakers to the left and right behind the amp there is only one left and right slot left behind the amp. is that where i connect to the sub? Thanks
Straya Reppin love you bro. I like your delivery and product knowledge.
For powered speakers you could use a mini dsp to create a Filter and use one of the outputs as a sub preout
I like it but newbies' heads just exploded when they read your comment. That would be a hell of a good video though.
@@cheapaudioman Newbie with head exploded here. How can I connect a sub to my powered speakers? No sub out anywhere.
@@Kelembor If you are using powered speakers, you must be running a set of RCA jacks from your receiver or preamp, correct? If so, buy a couple of RCA Y-jacks. Single male-2 female. Then plug the RCA jacks you currently use to one of the female jacks, per channel. Then connect the other 2 left over female jacks, (1) per channel, to your sub.
Actually it's even easier than my above scenario. If the sub has preamp in and preamp out, which most do, you can just use those connections. But you could have lots of long lines running if your sub is off to one corner.
Not if the DAC is IN the set of speakers already. Buying an external DAC seems to defeat the purpose of simplicity.
There are powered studio monitors or powered multimedia speakers.
You can also just y split RCA cables without issues. If you have active speakers and use an analog input, say from your pc/laptop's headphone / audio jack you can just split them to the active speakers and the sub.
Ok so my setup will work then? I purchased the "monoprice 8" powered subwoofer" but I've never delved into a real sub rather than what's included with my speakers over the years and thought this would work with my soundbar/sub combo. Basically I have that setup (when playing through wired) to where the 3.5 mm y splitter has the soundbar and my Bose companion speakers plugged in but say I unplug the Bose speakers could I then just use the rca to 3.5 from the sub to the other side of splitter then to my phone/computer?! Seems self explanatory but my mind is starting to twist thinking about these connection methods 😆
@@treenugs117 What you would do is plug 3.5mm in your phone or computer and then y split to the soundbar, speakers and sub.
Hey! I'm having a lot of problems figuring out AMPLIFYING my studio monitors! They are all passive but I can find an amplifier for required specs! What can I do? There are some out there but they are like 500 dollars but it doesn't sound right? I just want to power them a couple hundred watts? It says it can handle 140 watts 8 ohm per speaker. 75 rms! Any thoughts because I see your speakers in the background there! 😋 Do I make my own or what?
I have a Pioneer SA-6500ii and a Polk PSW505 sub. Am I limited to speaker inputs or can I add DSP or something better for getting cleaner sub level input?
Klipsch R-12SW Reference Powered Subwoofer, when on sale, sells for 150 bucks at Costco.
Polk 10" sub on Amazon for $109 rated and reviewed MUCH better. Model PSW10. That Klipsch is not rated well at all. Good luck.
Nice
Hey, I have an older NAD intergrated amp. It has preamp out, main in rca jacks on the back. There is a metel jumper going from the left in to the left out and right in to right out. So, we all know these jumpers connect the onboard amp to the preamp. You remove the jumpers the onboard amp does not work. Lets say you want to use the onboard amp to run your front speakers. In this case you would have to run a pair of rca's from the pre out from amp to input on sub and then another set of rca's from output on sub back to line in on amp. Or, use a set of rca Y's to connect the pre outs/main ins and then run a singe rca to just the input of the sub. And, some of the newer subs do not have 4 rca's(2 in, 2 out) on the plate amp like the model you are using. They only have a 1 set of inputs. In that case you would have to use the pair of rca Y's with a single drop to the sub. Is this correct?
Learned alot from this one, thx, oh and what's your coffee of choice? I would guess Black Rifle.
I have a SONY STR-GX69ES
am using Tape Monitor out

If I don't have a pre amp out can I use Aux line to connect to the active subwoofer
I used Yamaha im good with soldiering wires it not hard to do i did the high filter on the rears I do hole repair on sub and speakers
Can you run your Bluetooth speakers positive and negative terminal to run a amp to increase power and run more subs?
Great video and as a bonus, you’re funny as well, entertaining!
Thanks! (For some reason you remind me of Bill Paxton; "17 days? Are you not keeping up with current events? Man, we ain't gonna last 17 hours!")
Hi! Just wanna ask regarding connecting cables using XLR connection. I had yamaha cx-a5100 with 2 subs outs and svs PB4000 that has two XLR subs in left and right. My question where I'm going to connect the cables from Preamp to SVS PB4000 left or right or both left & right?
some subs I'm looking at only have line level input (most of the HSU for example). how do you hook up in this instance without the line out from the sub to go back to the speaker?
Great channel! I just found you last week.
You mentioned that you have a sealed sub that you love, but you didn't mention the model. What is the model of sealed sub you were referring to?
It’s a sonance of all things. Never really heard them before. Got it on sale for $350
does one really need the capacitors for a good sound? Also, could the subwoofer just be plugged into the "b" speakers of the Sony receiver?
No and yes
@cheapaudioman - So, I have a Yamaha CR600 (nearly identical to your CR-800) and I want to add a subwoofer. Is the easiest/best way to do it by just running the speaker output wires from the receiver into the line in on the back of the sub, and the line out wires from the sub to the speakers? I'm considering the Monoprice 12" sub.
Believe me, subwoofers can literally always be installed. I use a pair of edifier s1000 active speakers (they have no output at all). I paired them with a subwoofer from a Swedish brand "Audio Pro", that only has a 3.5mm input. Since i only have inputs on both devices, i will not be able to feed the signal through the speakers in a loop. Therefore i just seriously used a 1x 3.5mm to 2x 3.5mm splitter, for like 3 dollars. This made my signal play on two different speakers at the same time (the sub & and my edifiers). Some argue that this will lead to "mono", however Stereo worked perfect, i tried a simple "right to left test", no problems here.!
I've got this same issue, do you mean your literally splitting the source to 2 devices to get this working?
What if the powered set of speakers is using fiber optic, dig coax, or USB...? You're assuming everyone runs analog to them.
Great topic and review! I pulled the trigger and got the Klipsch RP-600M's. My receiver (Denon DRA-800H) has (2) sub outs. Going to use that receiver for both movies and music...more music than movies though. Advice on subs? One of the (2) you reviewed in this video? Different ones? Are two subs always better than one? Thanks again.
If the room is big maybe you need two. I’ve never been much on two subwoofers unless it’s just an enormous room. Depends on your budget and what you want to spend. Emotiva has a couple good subs that make good power at a fair price. You can’t go wrong with SVS either. Otherwise look to a Klipsch or Polk on sale. Subs aren’t nearly as important as your speakers and you got it right with the 600m’s
@@cheapaudioman Speaking of the 600m's, have you seen this: www.gr-research.com/store/p56/Klipsch_RP-600M_Upgrade.html ? He sells kits for upgrading 600m's, among other speaker brands. Worth it? Over kill? I've always had main stream audio equipment and I'm sure he would qualify them, just like the 600m's, junk...mass produced junk. But to my untrained ears some of this "junk" sounds good to me. My father had....close your ears, I'm gonna swear here...Bose 901's, series 5 I think and I thought they sounded incredible, in my young, novice ears the 901's were the pinnacle of sound. I'm sure this guy would consider them junk as well. None the less, I'm use to "mass produced junk" and even think some of them sound stellar...not too mention don't have deep pockets or the ears to notice the difference for the "high-end" stuff. Thanks.
I'd argue that the "mass produced junk" has more quality assurance measures in place than the small run "audiophile" equipment. Bose is cool. When people crap on bose they need to realize that the only reason why people get into high end audio is because companies like bose paved the way for them. Bose literally made multiple speaker setups (5.1) mainstream and introduced the public to subwoofers. I had a set of bose accoustimass speakers and I thought they were awesome. Still have them. Don't use them but I have them. To your point about improving upon stock speakers there are things that can be done with the crossovers and bracing etc that will make them better. The 600m's are pretty outstanding already. That's something you can do for sure if you're so inclined. I think the $500-600 speakers today are way better than they were 10 years ago. It's always cool to have an upgrade path though with your speakers if you want.
What about if your subwoofer that only have pre out and you trying to connect to integrated amplifier that don't have pre out
I was in and out of the room a few times during the video. Did you mention that some subs with speaker level inputs offer high-pass crossovers on outputs?
yes. Emotiva SE8/12 emotiva.com?aff=9 RCA from source to Sub/RCA out has highpass on it selectable on the sub/RCA into amp... high pass sorcery!
Nice video. I have bose acoustimass 5 series v speaker and Rx v385 Amp. Subwoofer did not have sub input and reciever has. What i did is connecting the sub and the Am to the front speakers on the reciever, the sub output is not use, the center speaker is not use, the surround is not use too. Can I connect a powered sub to the reciever so as to use the surround speakers. I have a Bose TV Speaker with a Bass output connector (3.5 mm mic). Bose offers expensive Bass Modules for that port. I have an active subwoofer (different brand) with integral amplifier.
I've connected to its "Line in" RCA connectors, but no sound. Is there something proprietary inside the Bose product that only allows their bass modules?
I didn't see where you talked about using a sub with speaker level output as well as inputs. Wouldn't that provide a high pass filter to your main speakers, adjusted by the subwoofer's crossover level setting?
Roger. Good question. It does not. The only crossover is the low pass filter going to the subwoofer itself. I would be great if that were the case. There is a company that does provide a high pass in addition to the ubiquitous low pass filter on most, if not all, powered subs and that is Emotiva. However, the highpass filter only works with RCA's coming out of the subwoofer and not the speaker level outs.
I have the definitive 9080x for fronts and matching cs 9080 center channel but I can't get the sub to kick in like before I have the sr-6014 marantz did I screw up the settings for the fronts to work right ?? Thanks 😊
hey i have a cheap soundbar for my pc, it only has a output to plug into the computer, could i add a small sub somehow?
Can you add a powered sub using a RCA line converter and running it from the B speaker outputs and running my bookshelf speakers from the A speaker output and have both on ?
I don’t think so. I’d just use the speaker level inputs and you’ll be good to go. Just run your “a” speaker lines to the speaker level inputs and then back to your speakers.
Really useful info. On an old school amp with no sub out am I right in thinking that I would need a passive rather than an active sub?
You can connect the active sub that has a speaker level input with speaker wires from the amp to the sub and then run speaker wires from the sub to your speakers
@@cheapaudioman Thanks for that. Great channel!
How to orientate condensor's +and- side in relation to amp-sub,??
Also, I have a Peavey 300watts combo bass amp with 18 inch driver. Any way of using that as a sub???
How can I get a 5.2 setup on a pc?
So I only have one RCA type input for one cable on the back of my receiver but on the subwoofer there's an in and out RCA input. Where do I connect the cable on the sub? The "in" or the "out"?
Question: I just received a Yamaha soundbar and a SHU sub... I tried hooking it up to my bedroom TV (Sony A9S Oled 48"), The light's are on on the Sub, I have the sub connected to the Soundbar but there's no sound from the sub. The soundbar plays but not the sub.
Suggestions?
Thank you
Joe
