I try and make an oil filter inspection video every Friday on this CZcams Channel, Thank You! 👍
Gotta say, I’m not really impressed by either of those two filters. Shoddy gluing and thin filtering media. Meh, at best.
Thanks, Scott👍
Big Jeff is running some monster size filters. I'm glad we got to see how Amazon handles filters. These videos are a treasure trove of information.
Thank You😊👍
I have received many oil filters from Amazon and haven’t seen this kind of damage. Just random damage. My son ordered a couple 5 quart jugs of oil from them and one of the jugs was cracked on the bottom. Fortunately they had bagged the jugs so no oil escaped the packaging. They obviously didn’t want them returned and refunded his whole purchase and he got to keep the oil.
@@stevej2120 Well, that was nice of them to refund his money and let him keep the oil. That's definitely a win win situation.
Those filters look like they were intended for the 6.5l chevy diesel. Both definitely were aiming for that brass ring, and missed.
Great Video WhipCity Like always
Thanks Wrenching👍
Great info 👍🏻 especially at microscope info 9:43
Thank You😊👍
For Chevy V8 Fan Boyz stick with ACDelco.
Nice video Whip. Wix for the win. I remember way back when ACDelco used cardboard end caps like Fram's orange can of death.
Thanks👍
Great job Pete
Can you do a video comparing the 2 types of valvoline oil filters please.
I get a lot of requests, I'll try
@@WhipCityWrencher thanks. Love the channel.
This is another type of *champion labs filter* same s---t like *Supertech* (walmart) and another cheap filters...
Too entertaining!
Great video Pete! The workmanship on filters nowadays, like many other things, seems to unfortunately be lacking. For any old school Chevy fans that run a Wix 51061 filter, the 51794 is the two quart version...if you have the clearance.
Thanks, Dan👍
I would say pretty much a draw ! AC with the sloppy glue and the wix with the poor media ! The dent is unacceptable ! Nice video ! 👍
Thanks, scotty👍
Hi friend watching in full with all my gadgets. Have a great weekend friend, thanks for sharing your expertise 🐕🐕👍
Hi Christina, Thanks!
Have a Great Weekend also👍
Man I had no idea they made em so big for a sbc. Guess I need to be compensating too! wow!
No matter how many times I watch the video about ACDelco filters: all the time the feeling is that they are not filters, but a piece of s...t.
LOL
@@WhipCityWrencher
So nice of Jeff! It must be a defective filter. There’s way too much glue on it. Another great comparison! 👍
Thanks, Ella and 👍to Jeff.
My brother John was over the other day and I got some tickets to the Jack and Jill.
See you there cuz😊👍
@@WhipCityWrencherYaY! You will finally get to see the reservoir. See You There, Cuz! 👍😊
If I had the choice between the two, I'd go with something else. Excess glue versus thin media with holes. I'd pass on both of them.
Wix, FTW. Made in the US and uses a coil compression spring. Filters with elements this big really benefit from strength of coil spring. As for buying anything from Amazon, here's my experience. Best to buy directly from Amazon, as opposed to third party sellers. Anytime I've bought from Amazon and there has been an issue, always made it right with refund or replacement. Based on that, my speculation would be had the seller been contacted, the Wix filter would have been right too. Thanks for vid.
Thank faxmen09👍
@@WhipCityWrencher
Was Wix purchased from a third party vendor? (Not Amazon)???
@faxmen09
I have a lot of experience buying from a third-party seller (not Amazon) - and I have never been refused an exchange of goods or a refund (although this has never concerned the purchase of filters or motor oil - other goods ... like a iPhone cases and other batteries for wristwatches)....
filters (purolators and Wixes) were ordered directly from Amazon/Amazon Warehouse sellers...
Hey friend watching
Thanks, missy👍
Enjoyed
👍
Probably go with the AC Delco as its not as much as a Miller Lite beer can as that white WIX filter, the media is better too ,that dent was brutal
WIX makes some of the best oil filters made. Maybe not that one you have but get a good WIX from a dealer & it will serve you well.
Now It’s not the Wix, it’s the f...i..ng *MANN+HUMMEL* (see on 2:21) (which seems to be trying to capture and destroy everything in USA filter's market (as a demon's party in politics)...
from the former glory of the Wix - only one name, printed on a sides... 🤦🏽
They are both ok. We have seen glue sitting on the can after disassembly before. Generally Wix is the best, but concerned about the media not being as thick. If your engine is in good condition, the Wix
big A.. filters indeed. Could be used for diesel engines.
My friend's 82 Toronado diesel uses a smaller filter than this, PH25/PH11 (long version). It had 446,000 miles on it in 1990. Who knows how many now. The 6.2s use the standard Chevy PH5/PH30, so they can use these or the PH373 big size. Not sure about the 90s 6.5 Turbo, never dealt with one before.
Hi Pete 😊. I would say the Wix is the better of the two. Another excellent video/ review. 👍. Merri 😊
Hi Merri
Thanks 👍and have a Great Weekend😊
I would definitely go for the wix's filter but that being said.
I believe that the Delco filter is just mediocre at best.
Agree @@404notfound.....
Nice comparison, Peter. BTW, I picked up a Fram PH7317 from walmart today and looking inside it, they changed the inner part to louvers instead of the traditional holes that Fram filters have. I wonder what else might be different. Fram keeps changing....
I guess they keep changing them and can't decide what they want to do. LOL😊 Click on the link below to a video I made about 7 months ago, that one had a nylon center core and metal end caps. czcams.com/video/_dLGvrF-sIE/video.html&ab_channel=WhipCityWrencher
Nice sharing, as always; excellent job! 👍. Merri 😊
Thanks, Merri
Have a Great Week👍
@@WhipCityWrencher You too 🙂
I'll take the Wix, thank you. I pretty much stick to Wix and purolator now for my filter, except for the ninety I still use the Land Rover ERR3340 filters. Only a couple of filters would convince me to change my miond but I can't get any of them here. Damn, what is it about the glue? More is not better!
The microscopic views are the decider for me.
Thanks, Lorrin for your feedback👍
I've gotten items from Amazon that were less than professionally packed as well. Many times. I don't think Bezos really cares.
Hi friend watching now
Thanks cassy👍
Out of these 2 i would pick the Wix. Sloppy glue in the Delco looks like they have poor quality control. Makes you wonder what else do they do sloppy ; ) Thanks for doing these it takes some mystery out of a simple oil filter ; )
You're Welcome, Scott!
and Thanks👍
I quit ordering filters from Amazon because of the poor Packaging and arriving damaged
Wix, use to be good but not these days plus they're way overpriced
I never had a problem with any filter change the oil and filter at the right time. 40 years and counting any filter will do for the daily driver
Not all oil filters are created equal. Take a look at this video.czcams.com/video/LDip3crm5Qs/video.html&ab_channel=WhipCityWrencher
Question, what determines the length and width of a filter.
I have No Idea, the manufacturers must figure that one out.
@@WhipCityWrencher thank you
WIX wins this one.
Hi John
Thanks👍
Those filters smell.
lol
I’d like to know how many customers had to send that Wix back to Amazon because of the damage. Amazon will let anyone who can fog a mirror deliver for them now. We used to be proud of the Wix brand down here in N.C. but with MH’s acquisition and with the current sad condition of the workforce the Wix brand has been forced to get more of its products produced in China and Mexico. It’s a damn shame like the song says.
This Wix was made in the USA, but what gets me is they knew it was dented before they put it in the shipping package because they taped up the box and shipped it anyway.
@@WhipCityWrencher
This is outrageous and UNACCEPTABLE in any way.
This is the first time I've come across such a case. Filters came, albeit in crumpled packages, but were undamaged.
@@Andrew__Smith Well what can I say, that's the way it came to my house. I certainly didn't crush it. If I had ordered it to use on a vehicle I would have contacted the seller, but for this video, it didn't matter either way.
@@WhipCityWrencher They get away with everything, much we let them to do !!!
Way to go, Amazon.👏
They suck. I ordered 20 LED tubes for replacement in my fluorescent fixtures and 7 were broken. That's 35% of my order.
They suck.👎
I've gotten banged up Filters from Amazon... Amazon is a shit show.
Those them filters the alphabet boys look after. If you know you know.
Thanks for Watching👍
You won't find a more quiet filter. :))
No way are these filters the OEM spec for any Chevy V8. They may fit, but they are not the correct filter (especially with no ADBV).
AC Delco is oem GM ,but probably a different part # for the OE filter
They are the OEM filter for the 307/327/350/366/427 in the medium duty trucks. Filter hangs down vertically near the level of the oil pump, so no ADBV needed. No bypass needed because it is built into the oil filter block adapter. They will fit any of the Pre-LS small blocks, big blocks, and the 6.2 diesel, with the oil filter screwed directly to the block.
