here's a comment from native people there:
"I am Japanese, I am writing this using a translator, please listen to me. First, I would like to talk about how Yasuke was treated in Japan. Yasuke's name does not appear in most history books, and for this reason he is treated as a fictitious entity that never existed.
He does not appear in history textbooks for elementary, junior high, and high school students, and only those who have studied history at universities have heard of him. Even in the few history books that mention his name, it only says that he "served as a peasant and carried baggage. Everything about him is a fiction. He was tall, muscular, and strong, and Nobunaga, suspicious of whether his skin was his own, had his men wipe it to make sure.
All of them are outright lies. And it is not even known if the Yasuke in the history books was a black Yasuke, because the name "Yasuke" is like John, a name that can be found anywhere in Japan! Also, Yasu came to Japan one year before Nobunaga died, Nobunaga had already almost unified Japan, how could he be a samurai without a war?
And even a 10 year old Japanese could tell that he was not a samurai, because he had no family name. When we Japanese introduce ourselves, we say our family name and then our first name. This is because until the Meiji period (1868-1912), when equality among the four peoples was introduced, ordinary people were not allowed to have family names. In fact, some ordinary people have become samurai or feudal lords, such as Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who achieved greatness after Nobunaga, who rose from a mere peasant Tokichirou with his intelligence and courage to finally become Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
And you foreigners often use the word "retainer", which is a mistranslation of the Japanese word "KASHIN". the original meaning of "KASHIN", is all those who work for the samurai family. A cook, a gardener, a maid, etc. are all KASHIN (retainers). In other words, those who support Yasuke are making a fuss based on a source of lies written by a black supremacist who cannot even read Japanese properly. Ridiculous.
Yasuke was in the service of Nobunaga, so he fits the definition of KASHIN, and Samurai are KASHIN because they also serve Nobunaga, but that doesn't mean Yasuke is a Samurai! The reality is that Yasuke was like Nobunaga's pet or maid!
We Japanese people will never forgive ubisoft's foolishness. Please let those who read this know how we feel."

I'm black and I don't approve of Assassin's creed Shadows because Yasuke wasn't a samurai. He might have been a bushi.
In case you don't know, Bushi refers to any kind of warrior in feudal Japan. This includes soldiers, assassins, pirates, bodyguards, and yes, including Samurai. Samurai on the other hand are low ranked military Nobles who served higher ranked nobles called "Daimyo". Like many nobles, Samurai owned small portions of land and horses. Last time I checked, Yasuke didn't any of those. However, he did own a nice house, sword, and some armor, but that doesn't mean he was a samurai.
Also, Yasuke only participated in one battle while serving under Nobunaga, which isn't very impressive if you think about it.

This new AC on the other hand is highly disrespectful to their Japanese fans & Japan in general. They have intentionally used & abused Japanese culture to satisy their own ego driven beliefs. They knowingly sacrificed Japanese culture at the alter of neo-Marxist Intersectionality in their continuous worldwide campaign of Western cultural imperialism.

Ubisoft screwed up the female protagonist as well; there was no such thing as a "female shinobi". Oh, there were kunoichis, but "shinobi" and "kunoichi" were two very different things. Female ninja (kunoichi) were trained in the art of deception, disguise, seduction, and subterfuge; they would disguise themselves as village girls, courtesans, or geishas and feed their superiors information. They would seduce their targets to get close to them and, if they had to kill, they favoured weapons such as hair combs with hidden blades, sharpened hairpins and poisons. All the stuff you see Naoe doing in the trailers? That was the domain of the "shadow warriors", the shinobi...the men.

I hope that it is also a bit of an eye opener and they start waking up to the fact that the west is trying to colonize them, their traditions, history and culture by rewriting it in their own image. The see the same thing happening in anime by localizers rewriting scripts to their own liking and pushing their own politics, and western internet memes without respect for the source material. Its ironic that these are the same people championing inclusivity. I also find it funny how they champion exclusivity but don't seem to have the same vigor towards p2w games and other anticonsumer games that is making the hobby my exclusive in regards to the costs and by definition less inclusive to those without the financial budget. That is the real battle for inclusivity they should be fighting for so that everybody can afford to play and have fun on equal footing rather than some folk play by a different set of rules.

What gets me is that "representation" always ONLY means adding black or LGBT characters. At times other races are some time included, but usually as background characters. As a "person of so called color" myself, I don't ever understand the "representation" argument. Non white Latinos/Hispanics make up the next largest demographic in the USA, and it's growing exponentially. But never do I see any characters, especially historical figures, or or cultural figures (gods, heroes etc.) swapped out to be any other race but black. Anne Boyln turned black. Zeus and Achilles turned black. God of war had a black "norse" god. Black Vikings on TV, etc. Now a black samurai in the middle of 15-16th century Japan.
Not to say there isn't some race swaps for hispanic, such as Snow White, but predominantly this pendulum swings only one way with "diversity." It's a controversial thing to say, but this "need representation" crap is mainly focused on African Americans, and blacks living in Western countries. They aren't pandering to actual Africans. No other race complains about this stuff. What's worse is that the few black people that understand that white liberals are simply checking boxes to fulfill a quota via pandering and token characters are viewed as so called self haters. I could not image what it would be like to tune in to a piece of media set within a non historically American continent setting, and seeing Mexicans running around in London or Norway. When you grow up hearing things like that all the time, you start to see the discrepancy in characters who are considered to be heroes, and characters who are just side characters. HISTORIC FACTS: 1) Yasuke by official recording was a page or koshō/小姓 /page in Japanese. What would be similar to a squire, page in medieval times? Not near a samurai, or even a medieval knight. 2) He also had a short sword (wakizashi) given since he was not of the noble class, or high standing and for Yosuke owning a katana would be a crime without permission. (Katana was not a fast-made sword even today and was for the elite only. Taking a year or years to be made.) Besides low-quality mass productions known as kazuuchimono like WWII katana swords. 3) Oda Nobunaga already used sword hunt /刀狩/ katanagari ordering the seizure of swords and a variety of other weapons from civilians/farmers in the Sengoku period in 1576 because of problems with an Ikkō-ikki group causing problems and certainly enforcing that law on his allies. In 1588 Toyotomi Hideyoshi similarly enforced the same law for a second time. 4) An interesting fact is that Feudal Japan was stratified by using religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, and Shinto keeping the society stable, and stratified. Lasting nearly a millennium with changes in 1543(The first European arrival) isolation till 1853 (The arrival of Matthew Perry and opening.) and the drastic changes of 1868 (Meiji era) and then 1945 (After WWII) in culture, society, etc. 5)Daimyo in the war between themselves in the Sengoku period set rules including those loyal to Oda on the swords, and tanegashima (matchlocks) gun, weapons with control, and rules. The castles even had weapon storages, and in typical bureaucracy, they were counted and controlled, even secured behind the lock and key in the castle weapon storages. Since daimyo lands were at risk of invasion from other enemy daimyos, they did allow certain weapon groups, for self-defence, for the military, and outside it with permission besides other daily things that could serve as weapons and also, in response to avoid rebellions from commoners, non-nobility of their lands. It would be double pressure if the daimyo army rebelled when another enemy attacked. Meaning, that the local populace got less dangerous weapons, as they controlled more deadly ones. 6)Also, there were already permits, laws, what kind of weapon one could wear by status, what colour, material, decorations, etc. Noting their status in society thanks to the influence of China, and to easily regulate society. Just like armour by their type and appearance noting who they were in the army. 7) Yasuke would not wear a Ō-yoro/大鎧/great armour as seen in the video as it was meant for high-standing humans instead of a similar, plainer Dō-maru/胴丸)/body wrap which was for low-class samurai and servants as he was of bushi/ 武士/ warrior class with no given surname. The difference was fewer components, (less flashy) with less weight and without the decorative markings, or colour of the higher-ranking military ranks. 8) The strange part of the video is that armour was worn only in wars, not every day as it would be like wearing a special OPS uniform for daily life and chores. It would draw attention even before he would receive the secret note. 9) Yasuke was certainly of a slave background under the Portuguese Empire as the slave trade started well before the 1500s with their outposts in India where he was picked by Jesuits as written by Jesuit Luís Fróis. Slavery did not exist in Japan and was given to Oda by them, implying that he was subservient to the Jesuits. 10) The records tell that he was in Japan for three years staying with Jesuits and Oda (15 months in service) with no further recording and had less experience in war. And it would be a stretch, even for modern humans staying in Japan with norms, or getting masterful in kenjutsu sword fighting taught at a young age. Well, he could use other weapons besides katana. 11) He was for certain a curiosity in a monoculture society and Oda Nobunaga. Just like Pochahontas to English, the first Incas, Aztecs to Spanish, Native Americans to French, etc. Most Africans in monoculture societies from historical records in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese royal courts from slavery would get employed because of their appearance as a curiosity for guests of their employees, or end up doing tricks. Sadly it was quite common. 12) He was returned to the Jesuits after the death of Oda after a stint in prison after a capture. (Not committing a seppuku as common for samurai.) Maybe he was spared that, or he was not a samurai. 13)There is information by Jesuit Luís Fróis - Historia de Japam Volume 1 through 4 that he by assumption would receive the title of tono also as dono/殿 との comparable to "lord" or "master". However, it does not imply noble status, or even samurai class as it was a show of respect title like the English milord, German Wohlgeboren, Spanish-don, etc. It is below the title of -sama in honorifics in Japan's honorific titles. 14) He had a house, not land as mentioned in records (since he was not part of the nobility, or even local) and a stipend that was a fixed regular sum paid as a salary or as expenses to a clergyman, teacher, or public official as he worked as a page or servant. The house could be claimed back after his service, or given with land for him after service as it was common in that period.

The xmen comics had storm as leader for the xmen. In the 90s nonbinary didnt exist. We had tomboys girls and effeminate boys who grew out of it or became gay or bi. They didnt chop off body parts or stun puberty. We had black people in movies and no one cared. Nothing being done by woke ideologes is new. The only difference is the abaolute racism they have and agemda.

This game has infuriated me. I made a comment about how they didn’t use an Asian protagonist when finally in Asia. So many people attack me for feeling insulted that my culture is literally being erased by a black man who was not even in any battles or training. Yasuke didn’t even know Nobunaga for more than a year. Yet he is a well honed trained Samurai in this game ? I could go on but this is upsetting for me. I have been waiting for Assassin’s Creed to go to Asia since Altair. The Chinese side scroller was disappointing. There is so much written history and they choose this black man to take place of Japan.

You can understand the breastfeeding as both symbolic and practical steps in adopting a child into a family, which shouldn't be frowned upon because in most cases the mother of the child is either missing or dead and the child had to be fed. We didn't have formula back then, and even if we did we still can't have infants drinking formula from birth. After this custom, the adopted child would be treated as though they were a biological child of the adopting family. Any relations between the adopted child and the biological children would be considered incest, and duly shunned. If you think it's a sex thing, you're just too culturally isolated in your own customs.
