  • Join me as we wander through Anglia Square in Norwich Norfolk UK a semi derelict shopping centre, let’s look at an abandoned cinema, walk through the graffiti ridden entrance to a creepy multi storey car park and gaze at an abandoned office block with the most impressive spiral staircases.

I grew up in England and used to go shopping there with my mum and hang around there with friends in the 90’s.
It’s wild to see what’s become of this place that was part of my childhood.
Good to see that QD is still going strong though 😂👍

Thanks for your comment I’m so pleased you got to see it before it one day gets torn down and it was a massive part of my childhood in the 80’s cheers for watching

21:53 As a resident in Norwich for many years, Anglia Square has not aged well, sadly. I remember it when it was a prosperous area and very much “of the time,” but now, it is very depressing, invites much crime and does not do the city any justice. I remember shops like Bejam, Fine Fare, Sainsbury’s. The sooner the work starts, then the better, as it will give that part of Norwich a more modern retail and residential experience ☺️

When I first moved from North Walsham to Norwich, I was terrified of Magdalen Street, there was a tramp called Marigold (because he used to wear Marigold gloves to direct the traffic near a pub called The Artichoke.
Saint Giles Street used to scare me even more, so many weirdos. Eventually I overcame my fear by working in a sci-fi store called Kulture Shock on Saint Giles and had to deal with weirdos all day long.
Could you make some more videos around Norwich? I wanna know what Castle Mall looks like, plus the old BT building at the end of Saint Giles Street which I may have snuck into a few times.
    Thanks for the video!
Correction - I was scared of Saint Benedict’s Street

Yes I definitely plan to make more and marigold that’s not a name I have heard in a while he used to direct the traffic at the bottom of grapes hill at times thanks again so much for watching I have a load of videos on Norwich history and I will be making more.

Apparently, subsequent enquiry found design faults within the main building structures that weren't either admitted to or found / discovered until much later.
Makes you wonder eh - ?

WTF? I used to go there all the time when I was at uni. I saw The Matrix in that cinema (I thought it was ABC cinema) and also The Phantom Menace with my then girlfriend. There used to be a discount CD store where I’d find really obscure music. There used to be Iceland and QD too. It as always felt like a bit of a dump, but it had a personality.
One Step Beyond was not in Anglia Square - it was somewhere on Bedford Street. God! The service was awful and it was sooooo expensive!!!

So sad to see the decline of Anglia square I remember the hustle and bustle of the place back in the mid 80s and early 90s. I was on youth training at the Nowich training workshops in st saviours street and would pop along to Anglia square for lunch sometime in the indoor market where Roys is now. Used to do great food.

Thanks for your comment I had totally forgotten about the indoor market until reading your comment I used to go there sometimes when walking back from swimming at st Augustine’s in the late 80s early 90s

Did you get shouted at by security? me and a mate went to the car park behind the cinema and got shouted at 😭
Also I gotta agree, those lifts were so scary, classic old lift which stops harshly. Only been once back in 2014. Sad that the car park closed, I love the vibrant red bricks, and stunning white stairwells.
