This is a blight on the Norwich landscape now. I just wish those of the Norwich Society and Heritage England accepted the plans submitted. This might have been partially built by now. A great video by the way and I wish I knew what they do with the Alan Partirdge painting from the Alpha Papa film.

Shame there isn't any vehicles worth saving, that door a you asked about was Austin A30, I noticed a Ford Anglia 105E wing, red Mk 1 transit had imploded on itself, remains of a Sherpa van and Leyland cabover ( can't remember type) had the doors behind the driver, and could be driven with the doors open. The other vehicles had returned to far to nature. Unfortunately.

Pretty bad that the information board at the start of the video has the USAAF acronym described as meaning ‘United States of America Air Force’. Looks like it was produced by the local council by the logo in the bottom right hand corner, all they had to do was Google it…..

The only thing left, in any state of preservation, is the old control tower, about half a mile away from where you filmed.

Great idea Dan, I'll see if I can figure it out... spent a lot on new camera gear so I could do with the money! lol

I have done the whole length of it a few times. It can be a challenge on a windy day as some parts of the route are quite open. The western end near the Themelthorpe elbow doesn't get as well maintained as the rest of it and overgrowth can sometimes be a challenge. Also some parts of the route has ballast as a surface which can be really difficult to cycle through so a bike with slightly wider tyres is to be recommended. For pure scenery, I would put the Monsal trail as being right up there among the best of the railway cycle trails in the UK.

Haven’t been there for a few years, good to see it’s still popular.

When I first moved from North Walsham to Norwich, I was terrified of Magdalen Street, there was a tramp called Marigold (because he used to wear Marigold gloves to direct the traffic near a pub called The Artichoke. Saint Giles Street used to scare me even more, so many weirdos. Eventually I overcame my fear by working in a sci-fi store called Kulture Shock on Saint Giles and had to deal with weirdos all day long. Could you make some more videos around Norwich? I wanna know what Castle Mall looks like, plus the old BT building at the end of Saint Giles Street which I may have snuck into a few times. Thanks for the video! WTF? I used to go there all the time when I was at uni. I saw The Matrix in that cinema (I thought it was ABC cinema) and also The Phantom Menace with my then girlfriend. There used to be a discount CD store where I’d find really obscure music. There used to be Iceland and QD too. It as always felt like a bit of a dump, but it had a personality. One Step Beyond was not in Anglia Square - it was somewhere on Bedford Street. God! The service was awful and it was sooooo expensive!!!

Though the pump station may be quite old the equipment within looks to be anytime from the thirties to the fifties. The pump motor was made by Metro Vickers who were in business from 1919 to the late fifties when they were taken over by AEI. The other equipment looks fifties though the large white fuses look a bit more recent.

I have lived in Rackheath for 30 years, and Station 145 has some significant history. Colonel Albert J Shower was the only commander of a US airfield for it's entire active duration, and the 467th achieved the greatest bombing accuracy of the entire 8th Air Force during WW2. Witchcraft was also the B24 with the greatest number of sorties, never failed to reach the target assigned, and never lost a crewman. Even the aircraft's groundcrew received medals for keeping it in service. You should have visited the adjacent industrial estate to see the renovated control tower (now offices) along with a remaining T2 hangar (still in use), and the memorial.
