Moriarty's realization that Sherlock was his intellectual equal led him to his suicide: his death would ensure that he would beat him. Or so he thought.
It's worth pointing out that in a later episode, Sherlock went to Mycroft for help in coming up with plans to counter Moriarty here. Make of that what you will.
I'm not sure if you have watched season 4 yet but if you didn't and don't want to know spoilers, don't keep reading... Unfortunately he did actually die here. In seasons 3 and 4 he only appears in dreams, flashbacks and pre-recorded messages. I mean, he has made some plans and is still terrorizing Sherlock from his grave but I'd prefer it if he was physically alive.
Confused Panda I think he just didn't really see the value of life, which could be one of the reasons why it was so easy for him to kill people. He was a psychopath who couldn't feel sympathy for other people but there are lots of psychopaths out there who don't commit so many gruesome crimes. I think the worst thing was that he was so extremely intelligent. He grew up realizing that he was different, that nobody could understand him. Neither of us can comprehend how terrifying that must be, Jim lived, as Mycroft once said "in a world of goldfish".No wonder he doesn't care about the lives of others, to him these ordinary people are no better than small, stupid animals. They can be fun to play with sometimes but at the end of the day they can't fulfill your desire for real company, for people you can talk to and who understand you. That is why he was so interested in Sherlock. After 30 years of living alone surrounded by goldfish, he finally finds another human being and gets excited. To test if Sherlock really is his equal or just another ordinary person, he plays some games with him, although Sherlock doesn't find them that funny. See, Sherlock could have ended up just like Moriarty if he hadn't grown up with a pretty smart mother and a genius brother. Because they showed young Sherlock that although he was smarter than most people, the other people were still humans, just a bit less intelligent and killing them is wrong. Jim never learned that, he never understood the meaning of life and spent all his years trying to distract himself. But when he met Sherlock he gained hope that he was not completely alone and so his goal became to together with Sherlock solve the final problem: Staying alive. Because that's all life was to him, a problem. This world didn't matter, all the ordinary people didn't matter, only he and Sherlock did. From Jim's point of view there was no reason for him and Sherlock to stay alive in this awful, boring world and all he wanted was to leave it and experience new things. He knew everything about life and it bored him, he was simply curious to see what death was like. At the beginning of the rooftop scene, Moriarty is frustrated and sad that it was so easy to defeat Sherlock. At no point can you see him being happy about winning, like other villains, no he had hoped that Sherlock would win, that he would prove himself Jim's equal. In this video you can see how happy Moriarty is when he realizes that Sherlock isn't ordinary. He is relieved and knows now that he is not alone. He knows that he can leave this terribly boring world and after a bit of waiting, someone like him will follow. And in this case, Sherlock would maybe even die directly after him so that Jim wouldn't need to wait that long. We know now that Sherlock doesn't die here but someday he will and then Moriarty can spend eternity with him in the afterlife, away from all the stupid people. Sherlock even promised Jim that he would shake hands with him in hell. So, I guess that's why he killed himself. I and many other fans may wish that he was still alive but if you really think about it, this is the best thing that could have happened to Jim. Dying right next to the only person in the world that mattered to him, knowing he would finally not be lonely anymore. Moriarty simply did not belong on this world. (Sorry for this long rant, it's just that I had asked myself the same question many times and finally wanted to write all my thoughts down. I still want Moriarty back. If I can't have him alive, atleast give me some more dreams or flashbacks or a twin brother! There can never be enough Andrew Scott xD)
We don't know when exactly the meeting between Moriarty and Euros took place because we don't know the total timespan of the whole series but I personally think it happened at the time of the second season, somewhere between the Hounds of Baskerville episode and the Reichenbach Fall. Because when Moriarty talks to Mycroft in The Final Problem, he first asks him if he is under arrest again, which means that this scene happened after the Hounds of Baskerville because that was the episode where Mycroft was interrogating him. And we know it has to be before the Reichenbach Fall because after that he is, well, dead. So, I don't think Euros was controlling Moriarty, since he only met her 1-2 years after Sherlock, I think it was maybe even the other way round. She was a genius as well and I do think that she made all the plans herself but she was unknowingly influenced by Moriarty. In the scene where Sherlock has to choose between shooting either John or Mycroft and Sherlock then points the gun at Mycroft, Euros says that Moriarty had already predicted that and shows a clip of him saying: "End of the Line. Holmes killing Holmes." Everyone, Euros included, believed that meant that Sherlock would kill his brother, only Sherlock understood the true meaning of that message, namely that Moriarty just told Sherlock to kill himself. Which is exactly what Jim wanted and what Sherlock then tried to do. Nearly everyone says that Euros is the smartest character in the show but the fact that Moriarty was able to practically destroy her entire plan like that without her realizing shows that he is even cleverer than her, or at least he knows her little brother better than she does. In addition to that we find out at the end that Euros is the young girl in the plane who is afraid of the world around her. And who is the person that calls her and causes her to cry and beg? It's Moriarty. He has such a big influence on her even five years after they met that his voice causes her to have a mental breakdown and become terrified in form of this little girl. It's like he was the only one who looked through her tough and evil "I'm too clever" attitude and saw that she was just a weak, broken child underneath. And he used that to his advantage. He used her as a back-up plan to kill Sherlock, if he himself failed. Moriarty manipulated Euros and managed to make such a big impact on her in only five minutes that he would still be the embodiment of threat in her future dreams. But I agree that Jim is in love with Sherlock, being united with him in death is all he ever wanted. I think Sherlock also has some form of love for him or he at least loves having such a great opponent. And the whole Special Episode which all took place in Sherlock's head pretty much showed how obsessed he is with Moriarty and that he just can't get over him. You could even interpret the 4x02 scene where he tells Euros "Your life is not your own, keep your hands off it" as a way of mourning Moriarty who killed himself. At the end of the day it's up to everyone to decide for themselves what kind of relationship Sherlock and Moriarty have. To me it's like a love-hate relationship. They can't live together but they can't live happily without each other either.
So as Arrow, if Season 5 would be last Season. Im pretty sure the Writer was inspired by Moriarty. Prometheus was a Evil Mastermind too. But not Google for him, it's a Plottwist who he is.
There's a lot of people wanting Moriarty to come back alive, but ngl, I feel like that entirely spoils the purpose of this scene. It is just so brutal and emotional and to say that both characters who supposedly died in it actually survived sounds as bad as saying it was all a dream. I love Moriarty to death (pun intended) but even despite his lack of decent screen time, I don't really think it would suit his character to come back, at all.
i agree with this, if moriarty had faked his death here, not only would it be against his character, it'd make it feel like he isn't as committed to the game as it would feel with his death being real
That is what Moriarty assumed. He thought Sherlock was an easy matchup and overrated, but in the end Sherlock won (even with the casualties he took). Moriaty wanted to destroy Sherlock with two options: 1) Sherlock kills himself to save to people he loves or 2) The people around him getting killed and Sherlock would be devasted, but Sherlock could save everyone.
Did you even undrestand any of this? Sherlock was defeated? This is exactly the opposite. How dumb are you? Let me explain. Moriarty let slip that killers can be called off when he said ' they'll kill ur friends UNLESS you jump off from this roof' . It wasn't a solid decision. Moriarty could call them off if sherlock jumped . But moriarty had to be alive to do that. He thought the only way to do that was to kill himself preventing sherlock using him to free his friends. So sherlock would have no choice but to jump , making moriarty win even if he died. BUT sherlock found a way around. He anticipated something inevitable and planned ahead to fake his death. He survived and all his friends were okay. Moriarty lost. Sherlock won .
Sherlock and Moriarty had countless opportunities to kill each other. But that wouldn't satisfy either of them. That wouldn't be playing the game properly. They don't want to be the last man standing, they want to score a complete and final victory in their battle of wit. To annihilate each other, not physically, but mentally.
there are many villains who do what they do because they have a sad life, so not every good sad criminal is a joker knockoff. at least this moriarty was the cleverest one of all the sherlock stories that i saw and he has nothing compared to the joker except their both good at their jobs and are sad.
Sherlock looks down at Moriarty's hand a bit confused at 1:04. In an earlier scene, Jim was shown to be left-handed. Because he was drinking tea with his left hand. And Jim reaches to shake Sherlock's hand with his right hand. So Sherlock was a bit puzzled when they shook hands
People shake with their right hand because most people are right handed and in medieval times you would draw your sword from your left side using your right hand. To shake someone's hand with your right hand shows that you offer them no harm since if you are shaking their hand then you obviously aren't carrying a sword. So Moriarty shaking Sherlock's hand with their right hand is just a polite gesture. The only reason Sherlock is confused by this is because he's being a total weirdo...
As a left handed person, I agree with the replies. Some people even find it rude to shake with a left hand. So it's basically instilled in us to always offer the right.
Except Sherlock could never make Jim stop the shooters. This scene doesn't make much sense to be honest. Sherlock talks big but still has no grip over Moriarty.
@@3hutp Yeah It would have been very difficult for Sherlock to make Moriarty call off the killers. However, there was still a chance of success. Moriarty wanted to erase all possible chances of Sherlock having a way out. Hence, why he kills himself.
The season 4 really did take some weight off from this moment when it was revealed that this wasn't even the final plan he had for Sherlock. I mean c'mon. Moriarty had planned everything so that Sherlock was cornered and that he would lose the fight, even if it meant that he himself wouldn't see that happen. And suddenly it was revealed that he already had made a back up plan with Eurus...
oh,look at the tears in his eyes, emotions on his face,it looks like there would be a crying, but he blinked it out to hide the emotions and also, before he reached out for a handshake,James raised his hand to touch Sherlock's shoulder or even hug him GOOOD every time, reviewing this moment,I recognize again and again how lonely and needy is "Napoleon of crimes"
It see nobody is appreciating the soundtrack, its so well done and increase the tension of the scene so much, you just get that feeling that something very bad is going to happen.. Sherlock is going to lose...
Anyone see a Batman vs. Joker dynamic here? Sherlock representing the stoic, rational hero hiding his emotions and weaknesses, and Moriarty representing the crazed, chaotic mastermind who feels something almost like love for him?
I always imagined this would be how the Joker would die for good. He finally sees what he's wanted for so long, that his nemesis and he are the same, that he is not alone, not a mistake or an anomaly, that anyone is capable of being what he is. This would allow him to finally seek peace knowing the answer to the question that has plagued his mind for so long, and knowing that he leaves the world with someone just like him to fill the void and who will have to continue while he gets to peace out, the last laugh.
One of the best scenes of TV ever backed up by an outstanding soundtrack by David Arnold, this really shows the unpredictability of Moriarty, and well the show itself (In Series 1,2 and 4 anyway).
Although: It's hard to hear the non-tonal, orchestra-as-sound-effect swoop from 2:10 to 2:25, and not expect to next hear Paul McCartney singing, "Woke up, got out of bed....."
My favorite scene from this series hands down! 🙌🙌 Benedict's acting as well after Moriarty shoots himself is brilliant in that this is the first time we really see Sherlock properly distressed the way he changes up the stoicism with the panting breaths and distressed sounds. And the score is just absolutely amazing! Chills every time! 😍
I felt like one of them was gonna die, and Jim's death STILL shocked me Also, I wish they kept him for at least one more season, he was such a fun, well written and well acted villain
Everything about Moriarty screams absolute nutter and this scene solidifies it when we see the absolute lengths he will go to to destroy Sherlock. Such a good scene and a completely unpredictable twist.
moriarty killing himself just to fuck with sherlock out of boredom, he just went full joker and yes i know moriarty was created long before the joker but this version of him wasn’t
“I may be on the side of the angels, but don’t think for one second that I am one of them” my god Benedict! This is why you are my favourite British actor. Edit: sorry just forgot to add a word
Yes he does indeed need to. Otherwise what's the point in Sherlock... A good hero is pointless without a good enemy...and Sherlock doesn't have one better than Moriarty.
This would have been a great way to end the series. Sherlock really dying for his friends after "making" Moriarty kill himself so the world would be rid of him. Mission accomplished.
When Moriarty realised there really is another man like him, he fulfilled his life's purpose and could die happy. Of course, winning was important too, so he did- at least until Sherlock somehow survived.
hard to believe that this scene was in the same show as the episode where sherlock's sister wants to kill sherlocks friends because she didn't have any friends growing up
I feel like this dialogue is incomplete... Moriarty is saying that no matter what happens, Mycroft and his men won't get him to talk. Sherlock counters that HE can get him talk, because - being just like Moriarty - will literally be willing to go to any lengths to get the answer out of him... BUT...there's a few things wrong with that... 1; the gunmen are setting up to take aim NOW, waiting to get confirmation on whether or not Sherlock falls...How does Sherlock expect to torture Moriarty to procure the answer before they shoot? How long would they wait before shooting? 2; I know that Sherlock said he'd be willing to do "anything" to get Moriarty to talk...but what does that entail. Considering that the man is so committed to winning this game, what threat could Sherlock POSSIBLY make to him that would get him to talk? This Moriarty doesn't even care about his own life; he doesn't care about pain, he doesn't care about money. I think the only thing he does care about is Boredom, and that just leads him back to NOT caring about his life... So I ask again...What was Sherlock prepared to do? What was on Sherlock's mind? What did he make Moriarty think he was going to do to him? Unless...Is it trying to say that because Sherlock is clever, that by simply talking to him, he might get him to accidentally divulge the method to calling off the hit? Because I think Moriarty's too clever to fall for that...
to be fair, Sherlock didn´t know the length Moriarty was ready to go to win against him. Moriarty was as intelligent as he was rutheless, but Pain will break any person. Also Sherlock wasn´t afraid to get his hands dirty, seeing what he did to the Assasin that hurt Mrs. Hudson. So maybe he thought pulling some Nails etc. woud get him to comply. He didn´t know Moriarty was "suicidal" and ready to kill himself.
FINALLY! Thank god there's one person here that uses his mind. Everyone is so taken aback by the fantastic acting and whatnot but noone really thinks about this nonsense dialogue. I said the same thing in another comment. Sherlock's threat made no sense at all. Moriarty was right the first time, all he did was he talked big. This guy was tortured by Sherlock's brother for weeks and didn't break, now he thinks he can overpower him? On the rooftop? How? It's bad writing. I'd love to see a HISHE episode of this where Moriarty doesn't shoot himself and says 'Okay, I'll call you on your bluff. Let's see what devilish deeds you have in mind for me. You have 5 minutes before the hitmen kill your loved ones and I have a gun. Good luck getting me to call them off!'
The answer lies in Moriarty's line... "You're me." Sherlock isn't threatening torture. Rather, he is implying that he and Moriarty have a connection unlike any other. A greater understanding than even Sherlock and John have (I would argue). They need each other, and they know each other well enough to predict the other's actions (to an extent) and plan for them. They are equals. Mycroft doesn't understand Moriarty quite like Sherlock does. It almost seems as if they can read each other's mind at times. Knowing this, it's reasonable to accept that Sherlock would be able to deduce how to call off the killers. Keep in mind that Sherlock is good at this sort of thing. Remember Irene Adler and Major Barrymore?
@@astro_penguin_ Unfortunately, the episode demonstrates that this isn't the case. I'm not sure how anyone can claim these two are equals or that Sherlock is able to predict what Moriarty is going to do, when the episode went out of its way to put Sherlock in an unwinnable scenario, in which he fell for every one of Moriarty's moves. Seems a bit frustrating because when you get down to it, it makes Moriarty come off as superior to him in almost every way.
Does anyone else notice how Moriarty is the only character that Steven Moffat has actually killed off (well ok, he killed off Mary, but he went out of his way to ensure that she essentially came back to life as John's conscience in the next episode). I'd have been happy for DW characters like Clara and Bill to just stay dead , but I so wanted to see Moriarty return after all that setup in S4.
Moriarty didn't die didn't you hear the spray just before the shot? Thats the exact same spray he used to incapacitate the guard when he stole the crown jewels. The shot came AFTER the spray the blood could easily be produced from a sac at his neck. Plus Sherlock didnt check the body he instantly set his plan into action. But this is just my theory
Sherlock: Got a new Cluedo game. Watson: I said it before, we're not having that argument. Sherlock: You're going to love this. It's Sherlock edition. Watson: Oh really? And who is the murdered victim? Sherlock: Why it's Moriarty.
I remember watching this when it came out. Still one of the most impactful scenes in my memory, and in retrospect, Moriarty is a fantastic example of an over-the-top villain who uses very real manipulation to traumatize people.
1:28 (I saw this elsewhere) but you can hear the sound of spraying... the same sound that was used to knock a person out in this episode. One last test of Moriarty to see if Holmes also had a plan for faking his death, to see if he was Ordinary after all.
The problem with Sherlock was that it ended too late. Just look at what Sherlock has become, it's not a classic, it's the one show that was a thing a few years back, nobody even remembers it... And the reason is this - THIS was the finale that we needed... The whole "sister that can program brains of others" was straight out of a poor sci-fi, it was simply not a good finale. She was a horrible villain both on paper and in execution. Moriarty was Sherlock's main villain, teased since season 1. The show should've ended soon after his death, introducing a whole new villain unknown to the books OR the script of the show thus far and giving her literal super powers so that she could somehow be more intimidating than Moriarty and others was just cheap and disappointing.

If the show ended here it would've been remembered as phenomenal.
That's the same as the books then.
So as Arrow, if Season 5 would be last Season.
Im pretty sure the Writer was inspired by Moriarty. Prometheus was a Evil Mastermind too. But not Google for him, it's a Plottwist who he is.
@@eriks1765 To be fair books were still pretty decent after Final Problem.
Also Hound of Baskerville was written after that in books
Couldn't agree more.
ikr.
You can feel sherlock's panic and anxiety as he realizes moriarty is dead, and his friend's are about to be assasinated.
Then again they shouldnt tease his return for several seasons and making convoluted ways to try connect everything back to him
It would be fun if Arsene Lupin involved in the series
I think the tease they should do is that even in death Moriarty has lots of cards to use to play the game
They never should of shown us him and he would just remain haunting the Sherlock universe
This was Sherlock's greatest defeat because Moriarty was bored of him. A slap in the face, if you ask me.
That is what Moriarty assumed. He thought Sherlock was an easy matchup and overrated, but in the end Sherlock won (even with the casualties he took). Moriaty wanted to destroy Sherlock with two options: 1) Sherlock kills himself to save to people he loves or
2) The people around him getting killed and Sherlock would be devasted, but Sherlock could save everyone.
@@boatymcboatface4120 how so sherlock lost
@@boatymcboatface4120 and he still had a plan he wanten his plan to be solved and still won
@@boatymcboatface4120 i mean not really. Sherlock lost on the rooftop and couldnt outfox what moriarty did to him
Did you even undrestand any of this?
Shooting Sherlock: No
Shooting himself: Yes
That wasn't the point
Sherlock and Moriarty had countless opportunities to kill each other. But that wouldn't satisfy either of them. That wouldn't be playing the game properly. They don't want to be the last man standing, they want to score a complete and final victory in their battle of wit. To annihilate each other, not physically, but mentally.
oh Moriarty
suicide is NOT the answer!
Kaagh178 mate I didn't think all that much when I said it
It was meant to be a joke
But I agree with what you said regardless
he values the game more than his life.
after all Moriarty doesn't have a motive for life other than to have a rival like Sherlock...
it iis!!
there are many villains who do what they do because they have a sad life, so not every good sad criminal is a joker knockoff. at least this moriarty was the cleverest one of all the sherlock stories that i saw and he has nothing compared to the joker except their both good at their jobs and are sad.
moriarty always loses in the end that's just how it works.
Oh, i love his face when he said "Good luck with that!" and put the gun inside his mouth
That might not really be the case. A lot of left handed people are accustomed to greeting with right. Sherlock would've known this fact.
1:28 With that move he totally destroyed Sherlock for a Moment.
Sherlock thinks he can make Jim stop the shooters, so Jim literally shoots himself so that Sherlock can’t do that.
Yep, that's what happened in the scene. Good observation.
Except Sherlock could never make Jim stop the shooters. This scene doesn't make much sense to be honest. Sherlock talks big but still has no grip over Moriarty.
@@3hutp that's what he does to everyone tbh
@@3hutp Yeah It would have been very difficult for Sherlock to make Moriarty call off the killers. However, there was still a chance of success. Moriarty wanted to erase all possible chances of Sherlock having a way out. Hence, why he kills himself.
The season 4 really did take some weight off from this moment when it was revealed that this wasn't even the final plan he had for Sherlock. I mean c'mon. Moriarty had planned everything so that Sherlock was cornered and that he would lose the fight, even if it meant that he himself wouldn't see that happen. And suddenly it was revealed that he already had made a back up plan with Eurus...
oh,look at the tears in his eyes, emotions on his face,it looks like there would be a crying, but he blinked it out to hide the emotions and also, before he reached out for a handshake,James raised his hand to touch Sherlock's shoulder or even hug him
GOOOD every time, reviewing this moment,I recognize again and again how lonely and needy is "Napoleon of crimes"
0:55 is haunting with the sudden switch in atmosphere.
It see nobody is appreciating the soundtrack, its so well done and increase the tension of the scene so much, you just get that feeling that something very bad is going to happen.. Sherlock is going to lose...
1:25 Me when my mom says that we have to go to the family reunion
This moment surprised me when I first watched it. Frankly, I was expecting Moriarty, when shaking hands, to pull Holmes off the roof.
They actually are the same but batman is in a way better than him , that explains why Harley Quinn loves Batman after Joker's death in white knight
Jim moriarty is such a goddamn mood, WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE😭
One of the best scenes of TV ever backed up by an outstanding soundtrack by David Arnold, this really shows the unpredictability of Moriarty, and well the show itself (In Series 1,2 and 4 anyway).
no love for S3?
Although: It's hard to hear the non-tonal, orchestra-as-sound-effect swoop from 2:10 to 2:25, and not expect to next hear Paul McCartney singing, "Woke up, got out of bed....."
I wish he didn't kill himself like that, he was my favourite
My favorite scene from this series hands down! 🙌🙌 Benedict's acting as well after Moriarty shoots himself is brilliant in that this is the first time we really see Sherlock properly distressed the way he changes up the stoicism with the panting breaths and distressed sounds. And the score is just absolutely amazing! Chills every time! 😍
I felt like one of them was gonna die, and Jim's death STILL shocked me
Also, I wish they kept him for at least one more season, he was such a fun, well written and well acted villain
Everything about Moriarty screams absolute nutter and this scene solidifies it when we see the absolute lengths he will go to to destroy Sherlock. Such a good scene and a completely unpredictable twist.
I just love how he says "you're ordnary"
Moriarty’s reaction to this with the music formed one of my favourite moments in television. So good.
TBH Moriarty was my favorite character.
People don’t mention how gripping this background score is; builds tension so well !
The music in this scene is amazing
On this scene, I cried.... Moriarty was my fav....
did sherlock cover his mouth because jim's bowels relaxed
This deserves way more likes.
😂😂😂😂you are amazing
What the hell.....?
Most people shit themselves when they die
wtf
Moriarty will and always be one of the best villains ever
Moriarty is one of best no doubt but the best would be johan liebert
the music was so sad and emotional when they shake hands...
From Moriarty episode, dare I conclude that what joker is for the batman, he is for Sherlock.
moriarty killing himself just to fuck with sherlock out of boredom, he just went full joker
and yes i know moriarty was created long before the joker but this version of him wasn’t
Turns out Moriarty was just playing Sherlock's sister's game.
Moriarty! I've come to bargain
Jim has beautiful eyes
“I may be on the side of the angels, but don’t think for one second that I am one of them” my god Benedict! This is why you are my favourite British actor. Edit: sorry just forgot to add a word
I have a hard time believing Sherlocks enemy dies in the second season and that's that.... he could have faked his death too! He needs to come back!
Yes he does indeed need to. Otherwise what's the point in Sherlock... A good hero is pointless without a good enemy...and Sherlock doesn't have one better than Moriarty.
Looks like you were wrong, but right in a way
ahem, his last vow
He cant come back, it would ruin this entire episode, and Moriarty's commitment to his whole scheme.
It would ruin his character and the entire series.
One of the best scenes ever, amazing.
TinaDoesGaming! nah complete bullshit
I love that he still has a stake in the plot even when he’s dead
This would have been a great way to end the series. Sherlock really dying for his friends after "making" Moriarty kill himself so the world would be rid of him. Mission accomplished.
This duo was just..... Out of this world. Insanely good acting and writing 🤌
My initial reaction watching this scene for the first time:
.-.
O-O
OoO
**muffled confused screaming**
The realization on Moriarty's face 💀
This was the point my heart broke into million peases
These two are great together. Love the angel speech. These two will be in my when re-read the books.
The camerawork in this scene is amazing
When Moriarty realised there really is another man like him, he fulfilled his life's purpose and could die happy. Of course, winning was important too, so he did- at least until Sherlock somehow survived.
Best showdown in the history of television..... missing this show
Even after season 4 I'm convinced that Moriarty isn't dead.
Why is everyone forgetting about the Abominable Bride. It literally showed us how shooting in the mouth can be deceiving.
It is a crime that we don’t have more of this show!
hard to believe that this scene was in the same show as the episode where sherlock's sister wants to kill sherlocks friends because she didn't have any friends growing up
This scene was the peak of the series.first Sherlock's reputation died and in the end he had to die.
Need a season 5 with Moriarty and hes not actually dead
"You're me."
Sherlock isn't threatening torture.
I'm crying even more than when sherlock died. 😭😭 Moriarty has to be alive. Also did you see the tears in his eyes?
Sherlock is surprised when he shakes hand because moriarty is left handed
are you stupid? people always shake their right hand
Sherlock's death got unexpected tears in my eyes. But then I realized there is season 3.
“He never were very interested in being alive especially if he could cause more trouble being dead” (Eurus The Final Problem)
The best scene ever in history of TV
After watch s4... I cried... one of my favorite villains....
(still hoping they change their minds if they do s5...)
The way he says your me and thank you. Mirrors how the Joker sees batman. I love how the show went a diffrent way with Moriarty it worked so well.
The greatest villain of all time
Does anyone else notice how Moriarty is the only character that Steven Moffat has actually killed off (well ok, he killed off Mary, but he went out of his way to ensure that she essentially came back to life as John's conscience in the next episode). I'd have been happy for DW characters like Clara and Bill to just stay dead , but I so wanted to see Moriarty return after all that setup in S4.
I see tears in his eyes
Can we all just agree to pretend like the 4th season never happened... Moriarty might still be alive and he is the true villain!!! 😬
SoSallyCanWait Moriarty is not alive in the 4th season.
That's a very good idea.
Not seen the 4th season. Is it not very good?
Kodanshi Helcarver ,The first two episodes are pretty epic and there’s several plot twists that you honestly won’t see coming.
Any particular reason why folks here have denigrated it?
Aww Jimmy boy was almost going to cry😍😢😭 1:15
Moriarty didn't die didn't you hear the spray just before the shot? Thats the exact same spray he used to incapacitate the guard when he stole the crown jewels. The shot came AFTER the spray the blood could easily be produced from a sac at his neck. Plus Sherlock didnt check the body he instantly set his plan into action.
But this is just my theory
Man, it's really interesting. I heard it too. So it's really probably.
I really hope so I saw that theory in a vid I want to believe it
That wasn't a spray sound. That was sherlock breathing in or "gasping" after he shot himself
This is the most stupid theory out of all stupid theories of moriarty surviving 😅😅😅
I think Jim didn't listen to Queen : "don't try suicide"song. :/
Could've saved him :'( If only
Even though the end (won’t spoil it) Jim died thinking he won, so therefore he did
Sherlock: Got a new Cluedo game.
Watson: I said it before, we're not having that argument.
Sherlock: You're going to love this. It's Sherlock edition.
Watson: Oh really? And who is the murdered victim?
Sherlock: Why it's Moriarty.
I have three words for a rational season 5 where Moriarty comes back
“It’s never twins”
P.s. the body was never found 😉
I remember watching this when it came out.
¿Why not use the time stone ? 😋
there's always a doctor strange fan watching isn't there?
It’s either the Time Stone or the Enigma Machine, and a World War II era computer won’t be the choice to help resurrect the dead.
This should been the final season and just leave us the hidden details that Sherlock is still alive..
That was a mad stare down!
the greatest battle does not take place in a war but in the mind
#MoriartyLives
Jim Killed Himself so that Sherlock didn't have a way out but to jump that's why Jim did it.
The perfect example of sacrificing a great character for a good moment. He should've lived.
Sherlock is life and moriarty is death. Mori art ti latin “to die was an art”!
They are the same, life and death…
I didn't like how he was super smart when we first saw him and now he is just crazy
I suppose the difference between the two was that Moriarty found more fun in toying with angels and Sherlock found more fun in fighting devils.
It's so weird how he opens his mouth before pulling out his gun.
