Perverse Company. the freight cost is largely reduced for their most sold product, and then they change the port, so in the end, they charge you more money to sell you a new charger, because the one you own is useless with the cable they just provided. Maybe the next move is not shipping the cable either?
Also I hate the "for the environment uwu" BS
1st. the charger in the box produces LESS waste than if it was separate
2nd. Batteries and chargers die the fastest and if learnt anything from the note 7 is that they explode BADLY
3rd. The standard charger has a USB A port but the cable is USB C so you have to get a new charger
And if it was to "improve seemlesness with other apple products instead of older accessories" then the iphone would have switched to USB C AGES AGO

@@damianocaniglia2489 More cynically, changing to USB-C on iPhone will probably be because Apple now has Magsafe royalties to replace the Lightning royalties.
@@karmacolonic I’m in agreement. But MagSafe sucks ass and the amount of energy wasted is terrible. I really hope they improve MagSafe for iPhone. But it’s a gimmic so far
@@damianocaniglia2489 I'm with ya on slow-charge Magsafe -- wish Apple would have made the switch to USB-C and fast charging a few iPhones ago. Their own technology advances caught up with them! Lol
But yeah, for whatever reason, the switch to USB-C is way overdue. Hope to see it soon.
Why Apple Changed The iPhone's Charger?
A: Simple, to make more Money. If Apple were so kind to just give the users the benefit of fast charging, they would have included a charger in the box. It was NOT AT ALL a eco friendly move as everyone has to buy new bricks, more packaging, more plastic, more waste. But again, more money.

If they really cared about charger compatibility they’d make the input on iPhone’s USB-C instead of a proprietary lightning connector. Ya know, like the Macbook and iPad already do.
That would have been problem for most customers as 90% of Apple users are not tech enthusiasts and adding new port would actually be problematic for them, mainly when not adding the charger in the box.
So Apple is either going to start the transition to fully wireless charging in the future which is going to be long transition with ton of accessories released before there is no ports on the iphone or they are going to bring a new port with backwards compatibility with lightning.
You should just forget about USB-C on iphone there is not incentive for apple to do that.
Apple hasn’t switched iPhones because they have the Apple Watch and AirPods that use lightning and those work using your phone
Real problem is that the only put in the fast charging brick in the 11 series phones so only a select few people got it without paying extra. The cable nor the connector are really an issue
@@dominikhanus9320 apple has already changed their connector before, and they will HAVE to do this switch eventually since prores video takes forever on the lightning cable (that uses the usb 2.0 speed standard)
Edit:On top of prores, iphone 14 will have a megapixel bump in the cameras to 48 to allow 8k and that means 8k prores video, which uses even more data. 10 minutes of this footage would take over half an hour to transfer to a Mac, Windows pc, or Linux machine over that slow cable, or even worse: airdrop
@@dominikhanus9320 then they can include the right charging brick and cable in the box, but they’re too greedy and cheap to do that

@@YourMom-wi5to If that’s true, then Anker must have much smaller profit margins than Apple! Anker’s 20W charger is between $15.99 and $19.99 (it depends which version you get), while both Apple’s 5W and 20W chargers are $19.00.
If they give type c as charging port in the iPhones, all problems will be solved
Only for bigger backlash that all lightning/USB-A/C are not compatible
You know apples never going to admit defeat they're never going to change the charges to USB c

Anker charger offers more small compactness which is more portable where the pin can be folded when not in use, when compared with the 18 w iPhone charger.

Hello, the usb c to usb A adapter, what are you talking about? Is it possible to use the 20w apple charger to charge the iPhone? I guess that way the load will be slower.
Another great video, thanks Greg ✌🏻🇦🇺
Short answer: *cuz USB-C is better*
In your dreams
The real question is, why the hell apple still continue to use lightening port on iphones!?
Because they get money from using lightning instead of something like usb c. The same can be said with the headphone jack, they removed it for number 1, they were paying a small fee for every headphone jack they added on their products and number 2, after they removed the headphone jack, it forced people to invest in Airpods as consumers couldn't use their old 3.5mm headphone, which made them more more money.
Hopefully I cleared it out for you!
and more than just iPhones use the lightning cable, like AirPods, the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and others
@@faahaad0 Apple along with Intel and many companies are actually behind USB-C etc They have slowly switched everything to type-c connectors including ipad. BUT I personally think they are waiting to transition phones when the market over-all is saturated with the ports because of the mess and outrage over the switch from the pin connector. Apple is a big part of the USB Implementers Forum.

I basically never click on these videos anymore because this guy almost always answers a question I could already assume/know.
Before the move with iPhones with USB C charger, people where frustrated that if you buy an iPhone and a Mac you must BUY another cable to connect the iPhone to the Mac
The solution : putting that cable in the iPhone box
But know people are complaining because they can use their old charger brick because the cable is changed
People are never happy x’D
People got angry because Apple used the same pathetic excuse to justify removing the charger in box. If they were so hellbent on providing a seamless experience, then why not ditch lightning altogether. Use a single charger for Mac iPad and iPhone.
Another reason why they transitioned to USB c is probably cause of it being faster which makes USB type c fast chargers faster than USB type a fast chargers
Now they should ditch lightning and put USB C on their phones. It's not "pro" if it doesn't have USB C.
Lol. type a cable supports fast charging which charges a 4000 mah battery within 30min
@@arnabkumarmondal510 lol
It's the gauge of wire that determines maximum charging speed at a certain voltage in a wire, not the type of connector on the end.
@@arnabkumarmondal510 and power delivery doesn’t. Apple uses pd for fast charging.
I got an iphone 8 and I got the new one is it healthy for the baterry?
Been binge watching all day
In the end they are saying its our fault for asking a type c charger
But wasn’t iPad had a different and powerful charger too? Why didn’t they use that one instead?
Although the iPad Pro and Air do come with a 20W charger in the box, to maximize charging speed you gotta use a 30W charger.
If you’re referring to the older iPads, those come with 10W - 12W chargers and USB-A, which does charge iPhones much faster than the 5W brick
However newer iPads have transitioned to USB-C 20W chargers
The older iPhones (till 7) are able to take advantage of the 10W to charge faster
While the newer iPhones (8, X, and up) are capable to fast charge with 18W / 20W
@@Digitalzeal ohh, yeah 8 was wondering why about that. Thanks for clearing them out for me
awesome I like how you used was the first Iphone
What about old usb not being apple to pass more power through? I thought that standard usb can’t pass more than 15W of energy. Am I wrong?
Its amazing how much this video misses the obvious. Rather than speculate about Apple’s motives, the simple answer is that the USB specification limits the power available through a type A connector. To provide more than 5 watts of power, a device must use a type C connector and implement the USB Power Delivery specification.
But my Oneplus Warp charger has a USB-A connected to the adapter and a Type-C for the Phone, Rated at 30W.
Apple should have included the charger for a couple more generations
And samsung
That makes sense, thanks for the explanation!
Question, why do they include the usb-c cube with the iPad Pro but not with the iPhone when they claim its to be more eco friendly?
I love how they forgot they can add a new extra port to the MacBook instead of replacing it
Can we stop criticizing companies for not using legacy ports? We should be criticizing them for using them, not the opposite.
@@Tom_Stevens617 there is a time to move forward. Taking a new step just for the sake of change would do more harm to users than good.
@@princesethi5352 Just for the sake of change? Lol what? USB-C is superior to USB-A in almost every way, so clearly, it's not just for the sake of change. It's because it's actually worth transitioning to USB-C before we go all-wireless.

Apple always prioritizes the long term vision. That's its strategy.
If Apple were truely honest, they would have included a Type A to Type C adapter in the box so that users wont have to upgrade to new chargers as most of them didnt have a Type c charger.
To be fair to Apple in this. Iphone pros did come with the fast chargers and cables. iphone pro users typically are on upgrade every year plans. So most of the iphone pro market has the chargers and cables. Now the lower end market was a shit show in a lot of ways.
@@christopherfortney2544 i have a lot of friends across different regions with iPhone pro and none of them have upgraded every year as the software (most of hardware as well) is same. Considering the fact that usb c charger started with iphone 11 pro, it was purely profit what derived this decision to offset the increase cost of 5G. They also removed lightning to 3.5mm dongle a couple of years back and it became the highest selling accessory.

Videos you made like a year ago, which told a story, were longer and had more consistency, were much more interesting.
I really enjoy the new animation style though and if you combine that to better content again, that’d be awesome.
Lightning cables were kind of cool though and unique.
the video starts with the fast charging explanation, but then you failed to mention that USB-A rev1.0 was capped at 4.5W of power delivery and most USB-A old cables are not compatible with fast charging. most USB-C cables support 60W power delivery and some may even support higher wattage up to 100W which is suitable for laptops etc... IMO, Apple transitioned to USB-C for cabling compatibility for fast charging more than just being compatible with their other devices.
Another reason why they transitioned to USB-C: USB-C simply offers more bandwidth than USB-A: Only 10W of power, I believe, can be transferred through a USB-A connection, but the USB-C connector can help transfer much more power (think of the 61W+ power bricks made for the MacBooks).
Funny thing is nobody can justify the thing on the other end of that cable.
