I literally just switched from my iphone 12 pro max to a galaxy z flip 4 today. I really really love my new phone. Its been really interesting seeing everyone's reaction to me moving from iphone to android. Personall, I enjoy my tech most when its exciting and innovative. I giggle every time I open and close my phone. There's a joy and childlike wonder to this phone that just wasn't there the last time I upgrade. It feels like a new toy that I want to play with, rather than a chore to keep up with whats new. As long as it brings genuine joy into my life, and does the job it needs to do, I don't care about specs, and as long as android keeps making new, fun stuff, I'm gonna stick with it.

They have perfected marketing to 10000%. That being said, people need to start choosing competitors or else the market will get stale. I hope there is a big breakthrough so this stagnation can be done. I'm tired of Apple slowing down innovation. There is definitely an untapped market of people waiting for the next big thing but I feel like it has to be like a new company with the marketing of Apple while having crazy good innovation and that is unfortunately the hardest thing to do. It's extremely baffling how much of a grip Apple has on its user base. I have a top end 2022 flagship Android phone with an awesome camera. At a work event last year a group of colleagues wanted to take a photo and I was keen to offer up my phone for it, and was immediately shunned because it was an android over someone else's base level 3-year-old iPhone, which absolutely did not take better pictures than my phone. When I switched to iPhone, I mainly did it because it wouldn't deterriorate quickly, it would update for a long time, and quality. My old phone, the S10, overheated constantly, had horrible battery, had severe screen burn in, and had low storage. Maybe it's because it was just a bad phone, and certainly androids are better, but compared to the S10, the iPhone 13 was a godsend. I bought the iPhone 13 with my own money, in midnight, and later on I got a good deal on the budget ipad gen 9 bundled with the 1st gen apple pencil, and bought according screen portectors and cases. One major point in the area of stability is software support. Android manufacturers are starting to promise 5 years. Apple has provided 7+ years for ages. If someone wants a new phone, they have many options to choose from and that brings a lot of fear of misjudgement. It’s not my main phone anymore(I use the 13 mini), but I still use it around the house. My friend gifted me a flagship Galaxy S8 that got like 2.5 years of updates, and my friend’s “flagship killer” One Plus 6(2018) was bricked by the sunsetting of 3G less than 4 years later. That iPhone 6 is still fully capable of calls on cellular networks, something most would say is an integral function of a smartphone.
Not every iOS use upgrades like a rabid animal, though some certainly do. I just like my stuff to last.
The 2018 iPad Pro is worth a look, as it is almost as capable as the new ones with how iPadOS stands currently. I got one(256 and cellular!) for $350/400 a year or so ago to replace my ancient iPad 2, lol. Needless to say, I use my iPad a lot more than I ever did. All storage options other than the terabyte get 4GBs, which is double the amount of the model I’m sure you have(9.7”). I won’t lie, I am tempted by that iPad mini 6th gen. I’ll get one when the iPad Pro gets old.

I do miss the times when Android phone manufacturers took bigger risks with their designs/features. I wonder if this rather-recent unwillingness to take risks is partially linked to Covid-related slowdown of the economy and quarantines.
As for iPhone's networking effect. Being from a country where the default messaging/video chatting tools are the messaging apps (WA/TG) but still with a fairly large share of iPhone users, I've never seen anyone actually use iMessage and FaceTime (I'd never even heard about the iMessage Android incompatibility thing before the MKBHD's video on the blue and green bubbles). So I'd say the networking pressure is generally more of an American iPhone user thing.

      So manufacturers make just that.
I am one of these people because the phone is now a fixed part of my life. I have no interest playing around with the tech - I want it to change as little as possible, because I spend my time on other things. Even apps - I don't like when they keep updating, every time they break stuff - I just want to keep using the same UI... or they release a new version of iOS and there's a ton of needless changes - I'd rather it stays the same.

I only had my $850 Samsung S8 for about 19mos before it became obsolete. They quit supporting it with even Urgent updates 2yrs after it first came out and since I bought mine late it turned into a doorstop early. It wasn't even paid for yet! My SE3 gets support for about 6yrs. Apple usually has a Security Patch in days when new malware is identified. It took Samsung about 3 months for the same process because not only did they have to wait for Google's patch, but then they had to program it to work on Samsung's proprietary overlay of the user interface. I will never go back just for these security reasons even though I loved my S8. I'm very happy with the iPhone SE. Another bonus, try calling Samsung Customer Service (if it even exits). I can get an English speaking human iPhone Tech on the phone just about anytime I choose to call or I can stop at an Apple Store to speak to someone in person.

Unsatisfied users tend to change things but satisfied users stick to their brand. And actually same happened to me. I was unsatisfied with androids glitches and bugs. Switched from Huawei to Samsung still had glitches and bugs. Then switched to apple and they never gave me a reason to switch back. Another reason is that updates are available for years and years, not 2 or 3 and Apple supports the older models generally and responsibly for far longer, leading to reductions in waste. Also, the darned things work- all the time. They don't break down or have lots of bugs. Also, there are fewer malware attacks, you know that if your mum/ girl/friend has one and wants to know how to fix something, you can talk them through it over the phone, literally, it is the commonness of experience. The core advantage of iPhone is fundamental.
They took the hard and risky route at the very beginning, creating a mobile OS from scratch that learned from the mistakes of decades of earlier OSs and was natively built for responsiveness and efficiency. This includes treating user input at the highest priority in its processing loop as opposed to just another task among many like Android. The latency of certain core functions will always be better in iOS.
Google decided to get the boost in development support, time, and software and tool environment that making a Linux-based OS would provide at the expense of a custom redesign from the ground up, forgetting that the real target base are the end consumers and not the development community (who would gladly adapt to a new platform if it could prove itself popular/profitable).

Sometimes, when you really got your hands-on to one platform, there's no going back. There you feel the real opportunity cost between the two products. You're gonna loose some benefits over the other if pick one over another. Someone may argue that "then let's buy the both". But that is not the practical way in terms of daily priorities. However, what I appreciate is that, the one I'm going to buy should offer me a decent job for the price I paid for it. In that sense, Android is still flexible to me. Anyway... love the both phones.
