Too bad the electric hummer is going to use the Chevy Bolt batteries. They also "sold out" of pre-orders but aren't revealing how many, most people speculate it's under 5,000 units. Meanwhile the Tesla cybertruck most expensive best range best torque version will be cheaper than the cheapest electric hummer.... Honestly I don't fkin know how they even sold 5,000, really not a good vehicle or at a good price.

@@Humbulla93 Haha if you tallied all the subsidies previously received by governments world wide over the last 100 years I'm confident that Tesla would be less than 10% as subsidized as most other auto industries. They can offer vehicles for cheap because their manufacturing techniques are innovative and ingenious. Subsidies don't go into making each car cheaper, they go into research, development, and a fraction of the cost of building new facilities to manufacture the cars. Besides, if you were talking about rebates, all electric cars qualify if they're under a certain MSRP cost, so the playing field is even.

This is an interesting point, as even if it were feasible for the grid to immediately move to all renewable solutions, the raw materials and manufacturing processes used to produce said renewable solutions may not be all that renewable themselves. Ditto for batteries that go into the cars. Still, as technology progresses, we come ever closer to finding renewable solutions for those renewable solutions, and we move further up the chain. Perhaps we may get stuck at some point (such as finding a suitable and functional alternative battery technology, or renewable materials for solar), but time can only tell, and progress likely won't be stopped.

Don’t forget that it can be charging while parked too, with photovoltaic cells. The range is marginally less than any comparable performance car. A Veyron has less range at full throttle. So do a lot of other super cars. So range really shouldn’t be a big concern, and is the subject repeated by naysayers. Charging time, range to range, is definitely longer than a gasoline/diesel fill up. But can a gas car be getting refueled at home, for a fraction of the cost of fuel? Seriously though, at around 20 minutes, is that really the end of world, versus 10 minutes for a fuel fill up? The charge times will improve, but even with that one issue, there are myriad other luxuries with electric cars. No gasoline to spill. No smelly gas or oil residue. No big stupid gas bill. Significantly less moving parts, less to fail, less to worry about. No exhaust fumes. Performance that shames gas powered cars. Lower center of gravity. Very little power consumption in stop and go traffic or traffic jams. . And on and on.

And that's what anyone who loves high performance wants. A car that accelerates like a bolt of lightning and can go long distances on a single charge.just saying this car is far from boring and delivers just as much excitement as a two million dollar bughati and that says a lot! For this simple and obvious reason I could care less if electric cars ever get to the point they are about to reach 60MPH in .5 seconds, the combustion engine is the heart and soul of any vehicle and no amount of electric speed will substitute that.

I think the technology is cool and the torque on the cars is awesome! But calling these things environmentally friendly is reckless in my opinion. You’re still pulling all kinds of materials out of the ground especially for the batteries which are down for at this point and what is holding up electric vehicles call the time being. Plus you have to plug your electric car into the power grid, where is that power coming from?

This is exactly the problem I have with EVs, they're too quiet. There's none of that good "Vroom vroom" symphony going on, EVs can't compete with ICE when it comes to sound. I especially love the sound of Alfa Romeo Busso V6, nothing sounds quite like it.
