  • I cut a round brilliant gemstone in beryl in this video. Im a hobby cutter located in the USA, i use an ultra tec v2 faceting machine with a digital angle readout.
    Some of the faceting design diagrams i use can be found here:
    www.pinterest.com
    www.facetingdiagrams.org
    www.usfacetersguild.org
    www.gemology project.com
    The faceting machine i use is a model that is not manufactured anymore but new improved models are available here:

    Im a member of the united states faceters guild and would advise anyone who is a gem faceter or wants to learn become a member.

    Wonderfully brilliant gemstone, Brent. I liked your change in sequencing... picked up on that immediately. I like to cut Beryl, but can't find enough to cut. Thanks for the excellent video, my friend.

    This is EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! I would LOVE A White Beryl ring and a White Beryl Tennis Bracelet but I sadly I have NO CLUE where I could fine those, as most places dont work with this stone 😭😭

      You would have to find a shop that would design the settings and cut the stones and make the jewelry for you. Most cities of any size have jewelry stores like this.

      @@tennpikr74 you think they'd work with stones like Goshenite, Danbrite & Clear Quartz? (I LOVE ALL the gem stones that arent "standards" in jewelry making lol)

    How did your pricing your work. I mean it stands about your work time or what. If someone give you a gemstone and tell you i want to facet it how did you gonna give him a value

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 4 lety +1

      I take into consideration the size of the stone, the material and the difficulty of the design. Its up to the cutter to decide what to charge for his time . I dont do much cutting for others .

  • @donsilverbulletspider3925

    Please explain why you do the girdle first rather than the pavillion and do you do the same on all gemstones or only SRB?

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 3 lety

      I always or most always start a round stone by rounding it . On this stone i wanted a faceted girdle so i decided to cut and polish it before moving on to the pavillion facets. Its up to the faceter to decide which way he wants to approach the cutting sequence of a stone. Ive been flamed on here by other cutters who are completely against cutting the pavillion first. Nothing is set in stone, you can work out what cutting sequence works best for yourself.
