  • Im cutting another montana sapphire in this video, this stone is old stock from the spokane bar mine.
    I used a 600 grit crystalite lap for the rough cutting and 3k diamond on a zinc lap for prepolishing followed by 8k on copper then the final polish is 60k diamond on a batt tin lap.
    I want to clarify something i mentioned in the video concerning the index markings on my machine, this is an older v2 model ultra tec machine and the index gears may or may not be marked this way now.
    Also sorry the music is louder than usual, i used the same volume settings as i normally do but it did turn out louder than i would have liked.
    I sell my gemstones and other finished jewelry in my etsy store : gemsbymbk, here is a link

    Thanks for watching.

    Just noticed this posted, looking forward to watching. I really need more information on polishing these harder stones..

      Hope this helps, thanks for watching. Actually i find it easier to polish the harder stones using diamond than polishing the softer (7 mohs ) and lower stones using the oxide polishes.

    Beautiful job, Brent. Love that color. Did the rough come from Tim in Australia? Thanks for sharing your work.

    Hi, I wanted to ask you is the waxing glue. The dopping wax that you and other gem cutters use, is it the same wax that used to be used in old time for stamps? I would really appreciate if you could answer to me.

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 2 lety

      I use a brown wax , i dont know if it is the same used for stamps. Faceters also use black wax . Most use epoxy and super glue.

      @@tennpikr74 I mean the red stamp wax. But anyway I appreciate your help. Thanks a lot. By the way isn’t using epoxy too time consuming process. Isn’t it better to use super glue?

    How do you get it off the epoxy when you transfer?

    You cut the stone very well. Why did you take off the master comparator clock?

      Sorry, i dont know what part of the machine you are calling the master comparator.

    Love your videos thanks. However, would be off the scale if you left out the music!! As you know, its all about listening to what your doing and it makes it really hard to hear and listen with the music in the forground.The music detracts from what your showing.

      Thanks for watching, i agree , in this video the music volume got away from me somehow. Since then ive tried to keep it lower to just provide some background noise.
