Glover earned respect for the rest of time, I think that performance solidified him to be inducted into the hall of fame when he is done.

Probably the most dramatic fight I’d ever seen. No clue how Jiri even got out of that arm triangle
I think how he survived was: usually in an arm triangle people have their arm in a 90-degree angle with the crook of the arm facing their own head and face. What I mean is, let's say your right arm is in kind of in this shape >. So, imagine the top is where a hand would be, the point is the elbow, and the bottom is your shoulder. But by having your arm in that position it flares out the deltoid muscle, which when you press it against your own neck it causes you to choke. And that's why usually you see people trying to defend by pushing their arm backwards toward the opposite direction with the other hand, to create that separation. But here Jiri did something really interesting and put his arm in a straight line, above his head. Like as if he was standing, he'd be raising his arm straight up - which actually creates some space when pressed against your neck and makes it easier to twist your head.
@@jackdebell3252 I noticed Jiri had some slight tricks on defense, he wouldn’t let Glover sink both hooks in when he took his back. That’s jui jitsu skill which Jiri does not usually represent in his style.
Jiri, the first one who has submitted Glover in his entire career. Crazy!
Survival instincts. He doesnt give up. True warrior, fight to death. That's why he was victorious. His skill might not be the best but his mind set is levels above the rest.
btw, the arm triangle escape Jiří pulled out. Tim Kennedy taught him that when he trained in Czech Republic while back, even before Jiří was in UFC I think. Which is kinda unbelieveable, even more so when you learn that Tim Kennedy is one of the best friend of Glover.
I dont want to hear ANY glover slander, guy is in his second prime. Also jiri is a fucking monster, this card was insane.

Arguably the greatest fight of all time, back and forth madness from bell to bell. This fight will 100% be in the hall of fame in the future.

@@tobymattana5320 every round was back and fourth with a last second sub from the loosing title challenger. The only other fight that comes close is Izzy vs Kevin and that was only for a interm belt.
@@kudii4525 I look at the pace of the fight, it's not the greatest but like I said it's 1 of the greatest. Also this isn't the only fight that's up there with Izzy and Kevin, Chikadze vs Kattar, etc some fights are better than Izzy and Kevin too i'll send a post.

Wow! My man Jiri actually did it. He became the champion of the LHW division. I can’t explain the happiness i had when i he ended up on top in the dying minutes of the round when i thought it was all over. Me an my girl won money on Jiri’s win and it was incredible to watch . I was happy to see Guru’s reaction it was unbelievable. To come back and win via submission aganist a legend like Glover is one of the most insane fights i have ever seen. We fans loved Jiri and i bet a lot more people are proud of him 🇨🇿. Killer🏆⚔️

After Glover beat Jan, I remember joking about izzy trying to move up again and losing to an even older, slower champion than the last time. That doesn't feel like a joke after this fight. He just fought someone much bigger, far more powerful, aggressive, and with the same reach as izzy, and even then it was only a hail Mary submission that finally did him in. I think glover would have waded through a few point strikes, got the clinch, drag him down and absolutely maul him. The way he would crash forward even when jiri was trying to keep away makes me think he could catch izzy no matter how elusive he tried to be, and the ground strikes and aggression would make Jan's ground game look gentle.
If u saw glover eat Santos hooks and take him down and saw Whitaker take him down ur delusional if u thought he had any chance to beat glover

Its impressive, when you think about big picture. Jiri refused to go to UFC years ago and went to Rizin to gain more experience. He went striking one k.o. after another and still people underestimated him, that he will have no chance on ground, that grappling is his weakness and he can´t survive with a good Grappler, not having a minor change with Glover on ground. And he finishes the way nobody could foresee. He has a strategy and long term plan, that makes sense.

Blows any Jon Jones fight out of the water. Best title fight in history imo
I'd say even better than Lawler vs MacDonald 2, and on par with Usman vs Covington 1. That one had a bit of a tame one and a half round. This was all out war start to finish, with no dead time, both guys going back and forth in the feet and on the ground, Jiri pulled off a comeback and finished it in utterly dramatic fashion in the last minute, and to cap it all, giving Glover a taste of his own medicine (he got the belt with a RNC on Jan, he lost it with a RNC from Jiri).

Jiri taps into with his mental philosophy, similar levels to Khabib, that's why I thought he would win. But against Jan, that's a lot harder to pick. Jan wasn't at his best last fight, it's gonna be a real test.

Essentially, if Jiri didn't hail Mary that RNC, it would have been a coin toss of a fight no one would have minded who won it or if it was a draw. Which says a lot about the quality of this fight, and also how good is Glover's second prime. He went to hell and (almost) back with a 29 year old wild man who is just entering his prime, made him work in all aspects and lost the fight due to a lapsus in decision making, which can happen to anyone. Respect to Jiri for becoming a champ, and also for Glover for proving Old Man strength is not just a meme.

Well you look at Rizen 10 minute rounds and you see how Jiri can just overcome the tiredness.
Jiri is like a modern version of Igor Vovchanchyn or Bas Rutten. Opponents take him down but he still ends up wearing them out by the end
@@MrRazmut yeah someone mentioned him vs vadim nemkov, so I watched that one and was amazed at how they could keep going at that weight class. That nemkov is every bit as good and UFC-worthy.

Thats fight was insane! Pure caos from the start. Glove OG, and Jiri, even thought he had a lot of trouble, surprised me a lot too. Both guys, looks like that were impossible to finish them! Crazy stuff man.

before the fight everyone was saying how Jiri has 0 takedown defense and it will be quickly over either way Glover is going to get knocked out or Jiri is going to be subed
the speed that 2 LHW fighters moved for 5 rounds was insane action all the time like every 20 seconds you think someone is going to get finished and Glover was 42 years old
in the end you have a Jiri (striker) submiting Glover(grappler) who was never subed in 20 years of his mma career , in last 30 seconds before the end of round 5
and Jiri did his last sub like 8 years ago before the fight...
It kind of makes me mad that majority of MMA community is interested more in a trashtalk than actuall fighting, becose if they would be interested in amazing fights this would be one of the most viewed fights

Glover rear-naked-choked both Santos and Blachowicz and had NEVER BEEN SUBMITTED himself. Jiri had submitted three people in his entire career, the last one in 2014. And then he goes, escapes everything Glover catches him in and then rear-naked-chokes him in round 5 of the title fight. Can't get more unpredictable than that.

Jiri deserves mad props however we gotta acknowledge Glover made some critical mistakes when he had jiri in trouble. Perhaps he was gassed but it sure didn't look like it. They went hard the entire 25 minutes.

If Jiri just narrowed his stance, jabs and hooks the body with feints high, and threw long uppercuts from both stances; he would’ve caught Glover. Plus, Jiri needs to be bigger. Glover was easily 10lbs heavier, and Jiri was too light.
Him being lighter is honestly what probably helped him ultimately win tbh. But I do agree he shudda put em away a couple times.

Agree with him for once. Best fight I ever see. Both fighters nearly finished 4 or 5 times each with huge variety of technique. Both fighters show full flaws and skill set with crazy last second finish from nowhere!
