Watched it back, very very close round 3 at a second glance. Pereira landing slightly more, I though a lot more of his jabs to the body were missing than a re-watch showed. Thought live the judges were just gonna say "its close so lets go with the takedown"
Regardless, amazing win from Pereira, he fought a Jan who came to GRAPPLE. Survived a round one nightmare to bring it back.
Jan was clearly more damaged.
Any fighter that tries to utilize the “control time” meme should automatically lose, if you are on top of a guy and not bashing his head in then you are a loser, jew jitsu is meant to be utilized by the guy on the bottom getting his head bashed in as a way to level the playing field and maybe get a tricky submission win out of nowhere - Pereira wins in significant strikes, Jan FAILS to take advantage of top control - that is the story of the fight. you on top? you need to do damage. WAY different Jan in the AP fight as opposed to the IA fight. how are these youtubers so blind. must be worried about $ for mma voice impressions. keep in mind this was Alex's 6th UFC fight EVER and 10th MMA fight EVER. crotch sniffing much to your chagrin doesnt win fights with damage.
Pereira outlanded him 35-26 in the 3rd round and 32-20 in the 2nd.
Pereira went for 35/42 sign strikes.
He completely outkickboxed yan
Why do you say robbery in livestream and Jan got robbed and now saying razor close decision and why do you delete comments lol
Piggy told everyone in livestream that Pereira might get it coz of the color of his skin lmao and cried robbery when he got it now claiming razor close fight ignoring the hematoma on Jans legs and cuts on Jans face meanwhile Alex doesnt look like he was in a fight.
@@BloodBorn-lx6dj he's deleting comments? super super super so*y

"I am biased towards Pereira"
Casually forgets the hematoma on Jans legs like the MMA jewru you are.
Just casually saying in livestream Pereira will get the decision coz he is more darker and cry robbery lmaoo.
Jewru exposed.
alex destroys Jiri, let's be real here
why everybody saying that? its better to get put out cold then get a 5 rounds beating. alot less damage when u get ko'd

Glover has helped Alex a ton in the grappling department. I'm sure he's had glover hanging on him round after round just like Jan did tonight and Jan was outgrappled by Glover.
His grappling is garbage. He’s been doing mma for 8y and is still at a white belt level lol
@@rumchata6569 who?
Idk if I agree with that. Jan isn't a good grappler but he was still able to grapple Alex and keep him in full defense mode while grappling. Pereira's grappling is honestly much worse than I've expected, and he doesn't seem to be getting much better. I also think Glover's grappling is overrated.
@@danieldelanoche2015 saying he's a good grappler isn't saying he's a great grappler. He's for sure decent. Alex's grappling defense was good tonight.

Alex’s mental is crazy. Gets knocked out and comes back 3 months later. Gets back taken and also got taken down 2nd round and still came back to fight.
I think that was arranged and he wanted a REAL fight that wasn't fixed.
He’s from the Favelas and he’s a former 12 year old alcoholic brother, when you endured so much hardship and misery in life you’re built for anything

After watching that fight it makes me wonder how hard Alex kicks. This was the first time I have seen Jan ever get hurt bad from calf kicks since he usually kicks shin to shin. All it took was 3 or 4 calf kicks for Jan to limp and some of his kicks were from the foot not even his shin.
the real world Sagat
Pereira has probably the best calf kick in the UFC. When even Gynobender (the master of leg kicking at range to a decision) gets wrecked by them, you know they are something special
pereira invented that calf kick, its hard to defend against since it can't be taught like a secret forbidden technique
@@marinmarinholana Justin had better calf kicks

The fact that Yan said he wanted to test his striking and shot for the legs in the first seconds of the fight😂

Yup that was intense

All the MMA casuals in the comment section pre fight were like Jan is gonna rag doll him! Obviously he's training with grapplers all camp under Glover anticipating takedowns. Wasn't even surprised. These are world class MMA guys and ppl act surprised when they adapt to certain styles.
@@nattypatty3667 It is surprising. Pereira is 36 and is basically a kickboxer: you don't just learn how to masterfully grapple at that stage in your career and we see time and time again people just not improving one bit and always going for the same old tricks that seem to work for them.
@@woodlandnetwork8575Exactly
Alex has the clutch gene in mma. Bro starts losing and then just says nah and pulls it back
Pereira's cardio is underrated, especially for a power puncher
Alex pereira vs jiri prochazka ???????????
That is a borderline mythical fight. That is going to be a blood bath, an absolute war. This should be the main even for the final ppv event of the year.
Yes, I'm already crossing my fingers that nobody gets injured till then and that the fight won't end in a shitty way like broken legs by an accident or something like that.
its either going to be that which im hoping for as well or it'll last 30 seconds with one of the dead on the canvas.
Two unbreakable wills going head to head, it's got fight of the year all over it. I think Pereira gets it too
As much as it hurts as Polish fan. Pereira won rounds 2 and 3, if there was more damage done by Blachowicz in round 1 i could lean towards 10:8, but other than 2 choke attempts there was not much done in terms of damage by blachowicz, so its 10:9 and 9:10,9:10
Nah no way it could be 10-8 as there was not much ground and pound
@@anshumankrishnan2085 its what i said, if there was damage done there could be an argument, but blachowicz had only 2 choke attempts! Read it closely!
I don't know. Round 1 could be 10-8 simply because of sub threat. He almost had him stretched out on the ground.
Something about multiple choke attempts yielding a 10-8 bothers me. You either got the sub or you didn't 😂
How did pereira won round 3? He was losing most of striking exchanges and most of Jan’s punches were significant strikes
Guru is a machine with these vids.
Tbh i was actually worried that Jan was gonna grapple early. I really felt the fact that he kept talking about "testing his striking" was a bait since in their Countdown video, Jan training footage was heavy grappling, especially entering with the double and single legs. Although Jan clearly had the advantage on the ground, the work Alex has been doing with Glover is really showing.
I think it’s a pretty clear 29-28 Alex. Alex was landing a lot of good shots in these rounds in comparison to Jan.
wtf did alex do in this fight? nothing
@@MarcoK6969 did enough to win

Alex winning was so much better for the divisions future. LHW has been a mess lately so this was a good change
Which is why he won to set up Izzy rematch you mark. Ufc guy always wins if it’s even close.
Champ now at LHW
Jan: I got a takedown, time for a break.
Pereira said his kneed and heel kicks in the clinch hurt a lot which made Jan want to leave the clinch
the visible damage on jan's leg and how tired he was showed that alex's strikes were very effective
I can only imagine how much of a help Glover is to Alex’s mma career, especially after Alex moved up to light heavy weight
I like Jan a lot, but I had Alex as the winner. They're both awesome humble dudes, an example to all of us.
It's incredible that Alex went from looking completely lost on the ground against Izzy, to doing better on the ground against Jan than Izzy did! Altitude and age of Jan might have played a part as well but Pereira is clearly becoming a complete fighter!
He also said after the izzy fight that he was unable to train much grappling before that fight because of an injury to a hand or finger.
Bruh, how you gonna forget to mention that Izzy was 31 (prime) when he fought Jan at 37 years old (over the hill) Pereira is 36 and past the hill on the decline and he still did better than prime Izzy. Altitude also played a role in Pereira gassing out as well.

@@draco2xxgoat prediction
You saw less visible abs on Pereira because he's 36-37 and wasn't on a big calorie deficit. If he "bulks" and looks shredded at LHW, that's alarm bells.
This 🙌
Pereira landed 35 to 25 in round 3. Also noticed in the post fight press conference, Alex had no damage on his face. So 'much for the whole 'Polish Power' nonsense. Jan got the tiakedown in the last few seconds, but rested his head on Alex' chest and did nothing. He was so badly gassed out. Alex won round 3.
for me if Jan wanted to win the round he needed to do damage after the takedown. His posture and demeanor in the 3rd was off putting to the judges especially with his nose busted.
@@koshycheriyan9979 Correct
Alex was also way sharper with his punches too. Visibly catching Jan much cleaner. Alex is the clear winner
Was it a take down? Alex fell wasn't it?
WTF you r talking about? Jan landed more significant strikes to Alex head then Alex did. Overall Alex landed more but majority of those were body shots and low kicks. Where are those Indian "Stone hands" 😆? Before the fight you all fan boys were saying that Alex will KO Jan in first round😂 hypocrite. One judge gave 3rd to Jan. That how close it was you casual. Jiri destroy Alex. No question
Jan is so frustrating to watch. He's inherited this play it safe style that prevents him from securing wins. Plus dude hasn't knocked anybody out, let alone rock somebody since 2020. So much for Polish Power
Just imagine Alex with good grappling. He would be unstoppable
The significant strikes was also 60-39 in favour of Alex.
The left hook periera landed right before he got took down in the 3rd froze Jan for a second.
A UFC event isn’t a UFC event without the gurus recap ✊
I definitely thought Jan won the fight
You definitely need to stop the heroin then bro
Kind of cheap for Jan to be saying that he was gonna test his stand up against Alex but shoots immediately
Loved the idea of a fight night in Poland for Jan’s last fight and if Alex and Izzy both win before February then they could make the trilogy in international fight week
Jans second decision robbery in his last two fights 😢
deserved the w vs ankalaev, had his legs feeling like jelly. but poatan won this last fight 💯
Alex looked a bit gun shy, not gonna lie
I guess coming back from a bad ko does that to you
Still showed a bit of his newness to grappling but Alex improved significantly and can only continue getting better. I do feel like he beats Israel if they fight again
He’s 36. What gets better at 36? Nothing
Really impressed by Alex’s grappling given his lack of grappling experience
pereira putting in work, by next year he should be proficient enough to completely snuff takedowns for good
Close fight, and good to see Alex remain calm in the grappling
Definitely not the fight I was fully expecting but good win for Alex either way…Jan really gassed out in a way that reminded my of the Rockhold/Costa fight where Luke was doing good but the visual of him so gassed wasn’t good for the judges and it seemed like that’s what happened in this fight…
I’m not sure if I’m going to pick Alex against Jiri bc Alex did look gas and kind of slow but maybe that was because of the wrestling and extra weight, being in LW since a while…It’s 50/50 anyway…
Plus they were at elevation in Utah, I doubt that will be the case for the next location he fights at.
Jiri has the best chin in the UFC it will be a banger

Great video, I agree with you.
The implications if he wins the title are insane. He can potentially avenge glover and rematch Israel. It's just way more entertaining then old man jan. I like both guys, but i have a soft spot for Alex, seeing his friendship with glover is heart warming. Im just glad he backed up his fast track champ status edging out a tough W, instead of a robbery i think the ufc would gift anyway. He looked good and dangerous as ever on the feet with the elevation in mind. People are still going to go for the takedowns.
Jan should of attacked more but the altitude definitely effected Jan more then Alex but Alex won I don’t see Alex beating Jiri Jiri is dangerous will finish Alex lol alex didn’t do anything special Izzy destroyed alex you can tell Izzy was the best fighter alex ever faced if alex wins the title Izzy will come up and take that title because Izzy can beat alex anyday look at the last fight knocked out frozen like Elsa
And it's yet more lore to Alex's anti-Israel arc. Beating the guy that beat Israel when he tried to move up? Winning the belt and becoming a two division champ, something that Israel failed at? Story wise Alex winning is the best outcome however I have a soft spot for Jan
@@MrFredstt yeah same Jan is a legend hope he comes back he’s 40 so not sure where he stands now but Izzy my guy the way he knocked out Alex was the best I’ve ever seen baited him and the one two combo and knocked him out hope we get to see a rematch in the future sooner then later and Izzy beats him again
Jiri should grapple alex but he wouldn't not in the beginning at least its a big risk. Jan tired out alex by riding him for a good few minutes and put the fear of takedown whenever alex threw a hook. Jiri should mix it up its not smart to take him head on especially when we know jiri is prone to getting hit.
@@TheForeheadOfDoom666 Jiri is a beast he can strike with anyone he’ll beat Alex easily Alex walks down opponent he’s so noticeable so many weaknesses
That was a pretty cool fight, I thought Alex won pretty clean but was worried that takedown in round 3 might have somehow made that Jans round - hence wouldn't have been surprised if it went the other way. Jan is really good, I think that much is clear, he caught Alex several times - not super clean but still. I think Alex could have finished Jan a few times if he kept at it like he did with Izzy, but he was right to be careful. God that dude hits hard, you can just see it. His namesake is legit.
Completely agree with you
I just wanna say I appreciate guru and and his takes on the fight game
Crazy impressive from Alex. I mean he beat Jan on the feet (which izzy could not) and survived the back take. Even stood up and handled Jan's ground game better than Izzy.
The most surprising thing to me was how strong he looked I really think Jan wasn’t expecting that strength when he shot for that first takedown
grown man strength 💪🇧🇷

I feel the judges and the UFC commentary team watched GURU's video regarding the scoring criteria haha!! Was refrehing to hear and see. Watching this live, I didn't think Alex was being aggressive enough in that 3rd round but he did it💯
Will you do anything for the Spence Crawford fight? I was watching that fight live while pereira and blachowicz were fighting and it blew my mind.

I just don’t get how Jan was a whole Muay Thai champion and is afraid to test his striking skills against the best .
Because it was way more risky maybe?
Bro I think you know Jan is 40 fucking year old , if this was Jan from 2019 - 2021 he would definitely have knocked out Pereira. You can see , he has lost his speed.
Man So glad Alex Bounce back!!!
as a big pereira fan i must say that we all expect a ko from alex But sometimes it is better to play it safe. it was a very close match, alex showed that he can defend himself better in wrestling. Alex played safe he did not take a big risk, other than that any match after you are ko beaten in such a way as alex is most likely that your performance will be less in your first next round. his next match he will be even more aggressive and take more risk and hopefully even go for a quick ko! chamaaa

Well said
Great video.
Chael said one time that 95% of rear naked chokes are guys quietly quitting, and the more fights I see after hearing that, the more I think that's true.
Pereira's performance was massively underrated
The judges should be interviewed, whether good or bad decisions it would be interesting to see their reasoning overall.
I still think even if the judges were former pro fighters there would be extremely biases based on what their style or preference is
How did Anthony Smith score this a draw?
Alex absolutely won that fight. If it weren’t at elevation, who knows what might have happened. Great job from Alex though.
Yiri vs Pereira is gonna be crazy. With Pereira and Yiri’s stance it’s gonna be 6’4” vs 5’8”
It's good to see Alex thwart a this type of game plan. This could have been like Tony vs Dariush, or Wonderboy vs Burns/Belal, but he shut that down.
Having checked in on your stream... you needed to take your time on this one.
Jan was tactical and looking after himself, exhausted and being kicked and yeah... those Pereira blows do fucking hurt and he had the momentum and whiff of a result against Jan... Jan did what you do when you are an experienced veteran.
Tunnel vision, looking for that single blow he knows is so close, or gassed out Alex in the 3rd? He narrowed his goals right down, ignored his massive arsenal... he does really well digging deep when exhausted, but I think he was. Jan succeeded in exhausting both of them, himself mostly, in that 1st round.
That was a shit your pants first round... I think as a fan of either of them. ALex's guillotine potential, but the obvious... Jan threw everything at a first round sub... and paid for it when he didn't get it. Ballsy stuff, but if rooting for Jan... oh, shit moment when that round ended.
But it was vicious and serious before you could settle in your seat and get a slice of pizza.
3rd round, not much of Jan's hits were landing well, zero damage being done, not even close. I have to watch it again, but I'm thinking Poatan's moving his head and becoming harder to hit. (He always lets people's shitty jabs through... he's always been, like, whatever...)
Glover was outstriking Jiri. Rocking him. Hard. Whether he was in too much pain to realise how close he was... But Jiri is the Vanilla Gorilla. A literal silverback the way he fights. All arms waving about at you and short legs. Gonna be dead interesting match up.
But the boys delivered. A driven, hard fight, with high stakes, grit and them both bringing their arsenal.
Gassing is a new scoring metric I wasnt familiar with. Sucks for Jan he won 1 and 3 according to the old scoring criteria.
the real, current criteria. they counted every single missed and blocked body and leg shot. Jan outboxed him to the head by a large margin, official stats make these pereira fanboys look silly
Agree with you Jan won round 1 and 3 with round 1 arguably being 10-8 because Pereira can't grapple, he was literally looking at glover for what to do in the fight on the ground. Just because a guy is tired doesn't mean he lost, that's not logical, if a guy is more tired it could just mean he put in more work, it shouldn't be counted in scoring, but if the fight was 5 rounds at elevation, I think Pereira would've gotten a finish. I like Pereira but the fans are getting just as bad as Adesanya fans, they have never read the rules and just throw out buzzwords like damage that aren't even a criteria.
@@snoopshrek8315 precisely snoop. My only real annoyance with the decision is the army of fanboys claiming Pereira smoked him on the feet, & that the takedowns were panic takedowns because he was hurt and losing. They couldnt be any more wrong.
Like, fair play the ufc and commissions will do what they must to build the big names and make money, but it adds insult to injury when the masses act like it was a clear, dominant decision. What fight were they watching? Have they not seen the official head-strike numbers?
I hope Alex beats Jiri so we can possibly get a title vs title fight between Alex and Izzy and maybe get a long term / active double champ (likely in Alex)
Can't wait for the beenie to come off I'm so exited 🎉
Glover is the x factor, Poatan is evolving his ground game so fast, is incredible...
Alex reminds me of Costa with his size being a major factor with takedown defense while having a bit of skill/understanding of the topic.
Alex would murder Paulo
That body triangle looked bad to me too he was basically hanging using his own legs
Guru is the man love the video trailer
I think the major thing is that alexs chin is not gone.. he took all the shots pretty well
Alex was the clear winner, Jan simply gassed too early
Jiri of course feeling confident excited to fight both, because he likes their style. The fight will be crazy no worries of takedown, just pure striking focused Jiri 👃 we're in for a treat

Long story short, AdeChina won by luck against Pereira
Jan did nothing with that take down in the 3rd. Jan was tired after the 2nd. Alex did more damage. I was surprised that Alex didn’t gas after the first round with carrying Jan’s weight for so long.
