I'm Brazillian, i just saw an interview Glover gave in portuguese, he asked to fight a
Ankalaev in Brazil cause he wanted more time to prepare since ankalaev is so different from Jiri, ufc declined, they said it needed to be in vegas, so he asked for Jan in Vegas and they said he already beat him and just didn't wanted to do it, that's why he's not fighting

i mean UFC has to have a main event for this december card and Glover steamrolled Jan last time so i get it from a business standpoint, they’re just trying to do the best they can under these circumstances

The reason Glover isnt fighting for the title is that UFC offered him Ankalaev for the title and he felt is wasnt ready for Ankalaev in decomber : he asked for Jan instead but UFC wasnt interested then he asked for Him vs Ankalaev in Brazil but UFC also wasnt interested so they moved to Jan Vs Ankalaev for the title

Jiri was afflicted by a major repetitive motion injury caused by constantly unzipping to piss in a cup for USADA.
Glover just said in a interview that the UFC offered him to fight Ankalaev but he refused because he needed more time and counter-offered to be in Brazil for the belt. He stated that since he is 43 years old he can't take this short notice fights because he relies more on gameplan and strategy than in pure combat skill to win his fights at this point of his career. So sad to see another legend getting shitted by the UFC.

Dude wasted his last and only chance at the belt instead of stepping up. What did he have to lose. He is in his 40s already and ready to retire. Should have went out and gave it his all. Plus he was in camp already.

on the contrary. He wanted to fight Jan but UFC said no. They offered him ankalaev but glover refused.
Ankalaev doesn’t seem bad as champ. He’s not like the other dagestanis, he knows how to HEEM his opponents. But the only concern is him putting on boring fights as champion by throwing 1-2 combos per rounds.
I wouldn't underestimate Jan. He'll be the underdog again and, we know what happens when he's an underdog.

Rewatched Jiri v Reyes followed up by Glover v Jiri (missed that fight) on my lunch break. Getting super hyped for his title defense & then I hear this news….

Apearently Ariel said glover declined magomed because there was too little time to train for a guy like that, and when glover asked if he can fight Jan again and the ufc said they already seen that and they need something new, glover also asked to push it to ufc Brazil but they said they need it now
That's just nonsense from the UFC/Dana, there's no way Glover voluntarily turned down a different opponent in what might be his last chance at the title, do not believe everything you read especially when the source is Dana White.

Ufc does kind of blow thing outs of proportion, like when said 279 was one of worst back stage fights that ever broke loose and come embedded it was nothing.
glover only had this title shot because jiri requested a rematch. it was an honor thing to him, more or less bc he felt he didn’t win the belt in the right way. nobody else was saying the rematch was needed above all else. obviously the first fight was dope so plenty of people were all about the rematch, but in all fairness without jiri’s request the UFC might have just as easily fed him one of the other contenders. my take is that glover felt he didn’t necessarily need or possibly didn’t deserve to be fighting for the title immediately after losing a title bout, if the guy who invited him back to the dance wasn’t going to be there. if so, i respect that.

Glover said in a interview for a brazilian channel that he asked for Ankaliev in UFC 283 in Brazil, UFC turned down. Glover then asked for Ian in dec 10, UFC turned down saying that was't the fight to make.
Glover wanted to move the fight to UFC 183 in Brazil to have more time to prepare for a different opponent. The UFC obviously said no because obviously they need a title fight for the main event at UFC 182.

I don't know if this information is factual, but another MMA media outlet claimed that Glover himself said that the UFC had already announced that the Jan/Magomed fight would be for the belt BEFORE contacting him to discuss his options following Jiri's injury.
The source also claimed that Glover did reach out to the UFC and offered to fight Jan on the main card, but would only agree to fight Ankalaev if they moved that match-up to January, citing that he needed some time to prepare for the southpaw style Ankalaev brings.

I was deffinetly buying the PPV for the rematch with Jiri & Glover, now that's not happening, there is a couple fights I'd watch but not sure it's worth the $60. I consider their first fight as 'fight of the year' material.

Nah Glover wanted the Jan fight since it’s a similar matchup but the ufc wanted him to fight Magomed. Glover wanted more time and asked for the Magomed fight in Brazil but they needed that fight for the Dec card. He declined since he didn’t have time to prepare for him.
I think glover just didn't wanna fight a different style of a matchup after preparing for the style of jiri
especially ankalaev is very different from jiri
