I surely didn't forget.
I remembered it before this video was released. It is one of my favourite games on the Nintendo Gamecube (which is now 16 years old) and will always remain a classic in my eyes.

It does, I was the master of this game, always getting the dragoon, so much that I eventually got bored with it and picked the small yet insanely fast motorbike.

Air Ride is one of my favorite games of all time. I've put more hours into city trial than probably any other game I've ever played.

I was addicted to this game as a kid! Me and my friends beat all of the checkerboards 100%. City trial was by far the best mode though
City Trial needs to make a return. I don't care if it has to be in Mario Kart...
That could work, actually... make Air Ride machines a vehicle type, complete with Air Ride style controls, balanced to be competitive against Bikes and Karts, add some Kirby characters, and voila, perfect ground to bring back City Trial.

okayso my sister and I actually figured this out a long time ago: the red boxes which contain the legendary air ride parts (for Hydra and Dragoon) are always in specific locations, given here:
Electric Lounge
the coast by Electric Lounge
the forest area near the plateau
the forest area, underground
underground / (garage as my sister and I would call it in free play)
the secret in the underground, accessible via the ice tunnel in the volcano
City Hall
the coasts by City Hall
inside the volcano
in the destructible buildings area (or whatever they are)
You can also find them during the "Item Bounce" event, as the boxes will *never* bounce, as well as during the "Items are all the same!" event - a box containing a legendary air ride piece won't be spinning.

some places are just sometimes, and some places are 100% legendaries. My strategy is to first get a better air ride before 2-3 minutes, then visit the many spawn locations, once you complete your legendary you kill the other players so they are set back to compact while dropping tons of power ups. granted I play cpu’s all the time so I bet if I play another “competitive” city trial player, it would be a fight to see who assembles the pieces like smash bros

Not enough modes, but what modes it does have, even Top Ride, are a lot of fun.

Kirby air ride is one of the most technical Kirby games to ever exist. People didn't like the game only because they didn't like advance techniques like air sliding and dash scooting.

I always loved this game when I was a kid too. Me and my sister and friends would play the free roam city trial and have a fight club sorta thing like your turf war.

Air ride was one of my favorite games, not just cause of the game, it’s mostly just because of how much fun I had with it. I have such fond memories of this game, and was pretty much the only game I could ever get my friends to play with me. It was also the only game I could I could ever really win at lol. Idk, I know it’s not an amazing game, but I’ve made amazing memories.
It's sad really, when this game first came out everybody ignored in favor of Mario kart double dash and/or f-zero it was only years after it was released that people actually started to appreciate what the game had to offer but by then it was too late and the game's medicore sales pretty much guarantees that unless the fandom demands it enough the likelihood of a new kirby air ride or even an HD remake is going to be extremely low.
A new fzero would be pretty great too though.

I like it. I thought $30 was enough to justify the amount of content in the game.
I really am a sucker for completing those challenges, so I'm sure getting my play time's worth out of it.

That game was the game that got me into kirby, and the second game I had ever played, first being ssbm. It brings me nostalgia every time I play it. I lost the game a few years ago though, so I mooch off my friends' copies.

I think Amazing Island for the Gamecube was a much more forgettable title.
TFW I love this game so much I realized that the legendary air ride pieces aren't actually random. Red boxes in the area by the waterwheel, in the dilapidated house area, under the volcano, and under Wispy, always have them. Most of the roads outside of that area never have them, shores and buildings sometimes do, and the underground area is a 50/50.
The two legendary machines are not in random red boxes. The red boxes that could contain the pieces will be in select locations. These locations are the beach sides, the castle, inside the volcano, the underground garage and the underground below the forest. Some areas are definitely the pieces such as the underground tunnel between the volcano and garage, the rock plains and at the back of the forest that is elevated.
