There are many things to be said about Sonic Superstars but I will never say it is a bad Sonic game. Sonic Superstars to me is like the perfect gateway drug into Classic Sonic because of how consistent the levels are that tests your high speed platforming skills. Also you're allowed to change levels and get Super Sonic pretty easily
It's not a bad Sonic game, it's just way overpriced. This should have been a 20 dollar digital download game, the same way Mania was.
Its okay. Which for Sonic fans might as well be peak.
Being able to play act 2 without playing through act 1 too after beating the zone is a GODSEND

In college Economics my professor said; "companies charge as high as they can get away with charging." There is no moral intent in business. Notice how companies keep raising the monthly price pay online? Online play used to be free. But they can get away with charging console gamers for online multiplayer. No morality in business

I still think Sonic 3&K and Sonic 2 are the better games overall, but Superstars definitely impressed me and has a lot going for it. It's pretty good, but it could've also been amazing with just a few changes here and there.

@@heroesismid8694 I personally like to judge a game based on it's vanilla form, but my main complaints with superstars was a severe lack of content for the most part, and lack of collectibles within stages.

Seeing what Super Mario Wonder did, Sonic Superstar was a let down.

@@archithroughI dont think nostalgia bait is the right word. You will be surprised how many young people wanted Sonic Superstars. Even on Sega's channel many people defending the game are under 20 or 15. Since alot of us are accustomed to Classic Sonic due to simple stuff like phone Apps, or Sonic 2 for IOS/Android.
The issue with Sonic Superstars is that its lacking in game design and production values department. Level design talent cannot be taught. The level designers of Sonic Superstars are "Arzest", the level designers of Balan Wonderworld. Not the best game designers, and they are unlikely to improve.
Zeldw TOTK is similar to Breath of the Wild, but Nintendo highers top notch level designers which Sega does not have

I can confidently say that Trip is my new favorite Sonic character. Up until this point I have never seen such a silly little goober make their way into my heart the second I saw them on screen.
Trip is basically like Knuckles in Sonic 3 & Knuckles with both of them having their own story lines separate from the main one Sonic and Tails (and Amy and Knuckles too in this game) have
The difference about trip's game is that more spike placement and eggrobo and a stupid final boss

btw you're like ON POINT where it comes to what the sonic's speed actually means since it's really is all about learning the level and replaying it untill you become a speedrunner of it who knows every trick and secret
i actually find the special stages a lot of fun (more than those from Mania at least), well exept for one...

I genuinely love this game, there are just too many good aspects of it to let the few things I find to be just okay bring my enjoyment down. Like, I even enjoy most of the bosses. I could ask for better music from Jun Senoue and more detailed backgrounds, but overall I just like everything in this game. I didn't think it would happen
One criticism I had with the game that I don't see elsewhere, is that the level theming is really basic. For the original zones it had, Mania had such unique ideas, like a filming city, or a Newspaper press Winter garden. Superstars in comparison feels like you can describe most levels in one word, for example, jungle, desert, factory, winter, etc.

Sonic 4 already came out. It's called "Mania"
The joke was also probably because the music sounds like Sonic 4 music, same instruments and same failure in the studio. You can definitely tell which songs Jun Senoue made because they all kinda suck.
The other 1/2 not made by him? Perfect. Abesolutely incredible.
Once NicoCW and friends finish strangling the Sonic 4 instruments out of this game, it will be damn near perfect.

4:40 the special stages are neat in multiplayer at least, still not great but they switch who’s in control every jump so you have to work together to get the emerald
i love your editing. when it comes to these kinds of videos, it's the best i have ever seen (not that i know that much about the quality of editing, but at least it's my favourite)
I saw someone make a meme and it accurately describes my only critique of this game. It said "when i'm in a time wasting competition and my opponent is a sonic superstars boss" and thats so true towards the end of the game

This is my new favorite Sonic game. I'm putting it above mania at the #1 slot, dead serious. It pains me to see the game getting a mixed rating, I wish more people saw how awesome this game was.
The small things Sonic fans criticize this game for probably present in SPADES in their favorite 3D Sonic game.
I heard, like Disney Sepeedstorm, the game itself is acttually great. The problem has to do with elements outtside of gameplay. For Sonic it was denuvo/Epic Games DRM stuff I thiink.
I agree that the few nostalgia elements are the weakest part of the game, but those elements are far less prevalent here than they have been in the past. This game feels like way more new ideas that old ones. Also this game does look graphically underwhelming but not anymore than a game like Frontiers tbh. When this game was announced i was actully not that exited,i thought that Sonic dosen't really need another return to form after Mania,it was only with the new trailers came out that got me hype for it

Sonic superstars is amazing,shame some sonic fans will always find something to compare to/complain about.
Honestly I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this game, it felt like a classic Sonic game and reminded me why I love those games so much. However I actually love the swinging bonus stage but hate the second boss of Pinball Carnival which is an otherwise goat tier Sonic course
Sonic superstars would be more impressive if it came out before mania and was at least half the price.

Honestly my only real problems with the game is that - denuvo are trying to remove mods from it and that graphics are just ok, but beside that - this is definately on the top half of sonic games regardless of who you are.
