Why the live of a sonic fan has to be this painful
At least sonic kept going, unlike Metal gear and Castlevania where they are dead.
For me it's good because i can enjoy the games that everyone else enjoys. But painful because:
1.- Having to play objective dumpster fires because you don't know anything better (06, and Genesis)
2.- Being jealous of people liking a game that you hate and wishing you were part of them (Shadow the hedgehog)
3.- Liking a game that you know deep within yourself that is bad desing (Sonic CD, Treasure hunting stages, Sonic Lost World)
4.- Enjoying a game that you are afraid to tell your feelings because you fear you are going to be criticize of liking a divise game (me with Sonic Forces)

Sonic and SEGA's relationship borders on abusive at this point. Just when there's a glimmer of hope in the dark and you think that the franchise can safely start to move forward again, SEGA just lets Sonic smack headfirst into a wall because they can (and probably think it's funny).

There are only two Sonic games I would ever defend, and one of them isn't even a proper Sonic game - Colours and Transformed xP
Sonic should actually go back to 2d. Sonic Mania 2 would be great, or something like NSMB. 2d classic gameplay with new graphics.

Exactly. Unleashed and the storybook games did Sonic's personality justice. They should have kept that sonic. Imagine if sonic was personified that way in lost world and especially forces.

In forces, literally the whole world minus the rebellion which is a mere tiny fraction, is under Eggman's control, many dead, everywhere destroyed, people living in terror and fear and have been for six months, Sonic not even knowing if his friends are even alive (and not emotional to see that they are), and being imprisoned, isolated AND tortured for half a fucking year at the hands of enemies he thought he had defeated and someone faster than him and evidently more powerful, makes fucking jokes and puns within seconds of being free, instead of feeling anger or pain, or showing signs of losing his mind or even joy of being free, and he isn't even outside the place and finds out casually that he's in space not even giving a shit
2 games with sonic starting in space to fall to a world full of chaos and ruin, its a though he was like "yep, been there done that, nothing to worry about"

I remember when Sonic saw shahra die in secret rings and went darkspine. That was heavy, seeing him absorb the rings of rage, hatred, and sadness. He was still in character with a quip or two but you could tell he was obviously upset with how he tore into Alf.
Black Knight basically accentuated why Sonic is such a good guy. Willing to sacrifice for others and being compassionate to even his enemies. Also going into his belief of enjoying things when you have it and how an eternal world would lead to misery eventually.
Forces had none of that. Sonic is a good guy still but he doesn't feel as deep as before.

Jesus Sonic went through A LOT of change from voice-acting and appearance. His personality is the only thing that managed to stay somewhat consistent.
I'm not sure if people noticed how he changes almost every year like I thought I was imagining it when I see Sonic's look because he always seems to have larger appendages and, no lie, growing 'taller'. Like it kind of bothered me how they kept 'stretching' his appearance.

The current voice actor fits the character remarkably? I'll agree with radicalsoda on this one, Rodger fits boom sonic, but not modern sonic at all.
I personally really love Jason Griffith as Sonic. He was offered to come back and play Sonic in Generations but Sega was going to pay him offensively low, so he backed out and I doubt he’ll ever have anything to do with Sega again unless they offer him a really good deal for a reprisal of the role (which they won’t)
@@zaneyates5704 i think he fits but i always hated his acting, he never gives this sense of adventure or excitement sonic should have, his line delivery i always found really poor, he sounds incredibly bored, its like listening to whalberg in the happening.
i personally think that drummond made the best sonic, but at this point i just hope they make a recast and find someone that can sounds similar to drummond

I know what you mean in the context of Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed, but for me, the Sonic from the story book games is the real Sonic to me. He has a lot more of an attitude, and his dialogue his interspersed with witty remarks, and I think it has more of an enthusiastic tone than Unleashed and 06.

I actually really like the sonic boom redesigns.
Was it because things seemed exaggerated? If so, I ain't blaming you. Sonic's a cartoon character in gaming, so realistic proportions/details/designs wouldn't be cartoony/usual.

Watching this after the sonic movie and I’m very happy this is the timeline where sonic was re-designed before the movie release
First time viewer, seriously well done, fun, and kept me engaged throughout the whole video. Side note, I think it's potentially a good thing that the movie studio is considering an overhaul on Sonic's look.

I highly disagree with Roger Craig Smith being "finally fitting" Ryan Drummond and Jason Grifith were far more fitting and the tone of colors and beyond is too safe and I know im not alone in that
Sonic doesn't need to be safe and kiddy like Mario he's meant to be attitude and edge that is still kid friendly but doesn't talk down to its audience... Modern sonic is all pandering nostalgia and stupid meme humor which works for Boom sonic but not main line
I am also biased as the sonic that was portrayed in Adventure and Unleashed is the basis for Archie comics at least the modern ones and that's how he was in Sonic X more or less so that feels like the definitive version of the character since its the most used
