Hey. Back again. Well kinda. Just wanted to release a cover before the year ended but English lyrics take a lot of time and effort to make, and the song I started working on in English to cover is… very hard. It’s kind of exhausting to sing and might take a while. So, I decided I’d release a Japanese cover before the year is out. The truth is English covers take a LOT more time since the lyric writing process is… difficult (nobody can ever tell me I half-ass it at the very least, but I take my time making sure my adaptation is as good as it can possibly be). Also, this was a chance for me to practice mixing with all the stuff I got for my birthday and Christmas LOL. In coming back I want to do more Japanese covers too! Generally of songs that didn’t get a whole lot of covers in any language.
Kyoukankaku Obake is a better known song I think, but I couldn’t find any covers that approached it in the way I wanted to sing it. So, since I thought I could bring something new to the table, here I am. I really like this song. Listened to it a lot during partial hospitalization, just kinda zoned out as it played. The lyrics are extremely vague but regardless I kinda feel like the music reached me. I mean I do experience Synesthesia!
Apologies for my strong American accent. I think I’ve gotten better at speaking/singing Japanese BUT it is kinda hard to keep it up for difficult parts in the song (mainly the chorus) because my focus there is on technique. Actually, I wonder how learning singing technique in Japan would differ. Here in the U.S. diphthongs and glottal attacks are a big no no, but you definitely have to do that occasionally in Japanese. It’s interesting.
Now that I’ve finally got another cover out there, I’m gonna celebrate by eating expensive sushi. There’s this restaurant which charges like, $5 for TWO PIECES of nigiri, but as a nigiri enthusiast I can tell you it’s because it’s really high quality.
